Dragon Ball FighterZ Discussion Thread (Game)

Pretty upset about it but I felt compelled to drop Krillin from my working team so I'm experimenting with Piccolo, Nappa, and Vegeta

With Krillin it felt like a very strong handicap to have a character whose assist couldn't be used to extend combos. Feels somewhat like a prerequisite in this game.

but you can use it.. it has weird timing but it is doable.. I've seen a few combos floating around using it.

This is the most fun I have had with a fighting game in 10 years and can't find anyone to run long sets with, its maddening. I just want to grind matches but this fucked up lobby system does everything to prevent you from doing just that.
Fully agree. Can't we just implement something like the NRS games, or most other fighter for that matter! Why complicate things so much?

Snap! That’s my team, loving it tbh

That changes the starting position for both players. I want P1 to be on the right and P2 to be on the left so I can practice combos on opposite side

Ive been doing that but it gets a little inconvenient after the 100th reset
Lol I think there is a setting in training mode that says "starting side". Don't have the game open now but pretty sure it's there.
You can also save the state where it saves where the characters are and then it goes back to it when you reset.

Nah starting side is basically a hard setting for starting on the left, right or centre. Ala reset/select button.

I'm genuinely dumbfounded that this isn't a thing.

The only option I can find is to set myself as P2 when entering training.

So I’ve been playing against “opponents stronger than you”, and I’ve come across 2 pink squares so far (on XB1). The first one was “UnknownThaGod” and he bopped my first character then I started coming back and adapting and then he barely won. Doesn’t rematch. Very lame.

Second pink square was “Hit” aka “Sm0oth Legacy” and I was doing very well against him. As soon as I killed his second character, rage quit.

My question is, how am I supposed to rank up my square when everyone I play who is a higher rank either ‘one and done’s’ me or rage quits as I’m about to win?

I guess there’s no real way to punish rage quitters. Because they don’t know if they quit or the server disconnected them. But it’s still very frustrating. Like I play super “seriously” against these guys, full on tournament mode engaged... then I get zero reward from it.

Not THAT big of a deal, just venting.

Actually that isn’t necessarily true. This early meta of using assists primarily for extending combos isn’t really an optimal use, only for some characters and/or if the combo will kill.

Assists are far better used for pressure and to help “cover” your character. But as I said, it’s not a universal thing. Sometimes using assists to extend combos is what you should be doing. Although, people still aren’t trying to go for resets with assists, which is what I’ve been working on. That and for pressure/cover.

Exactly. The damage being dealt on solo combos with 1-2 bars of meter at the moment will kill a single character in two confirms. Short of having a touch of death combo in your back pocket, using assists as combo extenders will be null and void.

There are very few obvious punish opportunities outside of supers and vanishes. You have to take your turn from the neutral and apply pressure, break your opponents guard and sustain the pressure on oki. I think assists will gear towards that in time.

The neutral can be pretty hard to navigate as a single character also. Assists go a long way to locking down parts of the screen and restricting your opponent.

Kid buu is the dumbest thing ever.

Him and goku black are probs the first on the nerf list for any balance changes.
DONT EVEN PUT THAT IN FUCKING EXISTENCE! See, this is what Uncle JBeezY has been worried about and thinking this through in my mind, "I hope nobody gets nerfed." Because there is no need ANY nerfs at all! Everybody is good in their own way, fo realz! Kid Buu has one of the best pressure in the game, YES! BUT he can be beat. So dont be doing that shit calling for nerfs. Very scrubby, discouraging, and rather distasteful.

Agreed. Though I still think on this basis Krillin isnt worth it, as his really doesn't afford me extra pressure either. At least for me.

Piccolo's assist is awesome. Good for maintaining pressure. Good for cover going in. And can extend combos as well.

Writing this now I think it was dumb for me to use Pickle Man as a point character.
