Dragon Ball FighterZ Discussion Thread (Game)

It's all so very confusing.
Ok, slight change to my team.. not team members just order..

21 on point is way stronger than I thought. She can do some serious worm there. Then Hit the Kid Buu.

21 has some really good, solo one bar stuff and excellent range. Her assist seems to be dookie. Throw in Kids assist and Hit's (I still haven't figured out what his can do yet) and I can put hands - heavy hands - on my opponent.

Hit comes in second. Decent damage, tricky and grounded. His counter might be a thing that it good. Time will tell.

Kid Buu is like Goku Black imo.. super powerful, he can go anywhere.. running hi. Anchor means I have his assist on deck for my point and mids and when he comes.out proper, he can really get work done.

I don't know if this team is optimal or high tier or anything, but I like the characters a ton and find them all super fun to play and I feel like there is some basic synergy there. I am NOT going down my usual rode. I refuse. Unless.i just HATE playing one of these characters after some matches, this is my team.

I do hope Hit turns out to be strong. I don't have much doubt about 21 and I KNOW Kid Buu is strong.. but Hit is different and is going yo take some work to figure out.

Edit, quick thought.. I wish autocombos were disabled in ranked.

Finally ran into a player that's not an autocombo connoisseur.
Was my first time fighting 16 as well, this dude is nuts, seems only lows and maybe throws beat his armor coz he was going through multihit beams and everything else.

Recorded the set, sloppiness warning coz all I was playing before this was superdash swatting simulator so..

Rest of the set

TamedLizard

Buff George
I have finally solidified my team. Running Frieza on point, Beerus on mid, and Adult Gohan on anchor.

Very first assist combo (feelsgoodman) Nothing too flashy, but these assist combos eluded me for a few days so I'm hyped.

Game is so incredibly fun. Almost finished with story. About half way through 21 arc. After that, the online grind begins!

I thought i was geting ok at the game on sory mode i tried my first online match and didnt even touch the guy lol wish i could get good on this game new to fighting games btw. The manual combos i jus seem a tad to late inputing them

Possibly online-lag / input-delay. Wired internet helps withe lag obvs if you’re not already. I use wired controller and gaming monitor to mitigate the latter. Won’t necessarily fix the problem but may help to reduce the issue.

Play play and play more , you get used to it . In beta first day I got my ass kicked whole day and lost almost all matches , second day I started winning and even went on a streak :D Just practice . But I play fgs for years so it might make a difference .

Thumb is killing me. Not just the tip of it, the base is as well (giggity). Never grinded so damn hard (giggity x2).

Sutter Pain

Your mothers main.
After playing some good people I have learned waiting to block and punish is death. If you can't max damage or close off every conversion ur gonna get mopped.

Love the game but it is so wildly different coming mainly from 3D with no anime or Mvc experience.

I'm having a hard time on pad muscle memory I can not for some reason use the l1/l2 I always hit r1/r2 lol. Think I need to switch to stick but mine is almost 10 years old and beat as fuck.

Sitting at work and all I wanna do is lab bnbs and get my assist pressure down cuz it's bad right now lol.

This game is crack. I keep playing for hours and hours and it feels like minutes. Probably done for now tho, this game takes a toll on your thumbs if you play on pad.
Dude, tell me about it! I stayed up late last night just playing training mode, my thumbs sore from playing on pad for almost half a day.

One of the things i "discovered" is that Android 21 is a good point with Yamcha being mid. Yamcha's assist is very good at extending Android 21' s combos, allowing her to easily absorb grounded moves.

This absorb combo with the Yamcha assist deals ~4.2K meterless and ~5.1K with one bar. I'm sure that there are better set ups out there for her absorption, but I was happy to find one with Yamcha.

Speaking of Yamcha, I can't seem to get much damage midscreen with him, either with or without meter. It feels like he's going to rely on resets or set ups to do his damage. Android 21's assist does help him hit-confirm off of WFF--something that he can't do without using meter. In the corner, however, Yamcha can do ~5.7K with an assist and a bar of meter.

I'm still looking for a third, but so far I'm really liking Android 21 and Yamcha. together.

How are you fuckin up your thumb so much in a game with only quarter-circle motions?
God help you if you ever try to play KoF..
Air movement bro. Constantly jumping, dashing, double jumping and instant air dashing. I’m only on the ground when comboing lol

It's all so very confusing.
Why though? If you're getting hit it doesn't matter if it's auto or not

Because basic hit confirmation IS a skill, and typically in games, pure mashing only goes so far, and in dbfz it only goes so far as well, I'm not saying someone is gonna be holding Evo down with LLLLLLLLL combos or anything, but the ability to mash out of pressure into damage that can be decent if they devote resources.. it's just a scrubby thing to do imo.

Look at it this way, imagine if a character in Inj or something had a 6f normal that took 25-30% of your health.. it's equiviequi to that IMO because they don't have to confirm or think about anything. Just slam the L button. If you had to at least confirm into the combo I have no issue.

Anime games are reset and setup heavy and the ability to completely, blindly mash through is a shitty aspect. It's not game breaking, nor does it seriously diminish the fun and at the upper echelons echelons of play it's not going to be a factor, but I've already watched very strong players talk about a lot of setups and resets not being viable because you can mindlessly mash out of them and take 25% if your opponent's health.

Additionally, and this is purely a personal consideration, I stagger lights a lot in games like this, and the window for the auto combo is so generous I keep getting it's startup when im trying to work erratic pressure/interrupts but that's a me being scrubby and needing better timing thing.

I just think in ranked only in ranked, it should be disabled and we should have the option when creating rings or whatever of disabling it.

Nor am I calling for "nerfs" or anything, it's just a super scrubby mechanic that slightly bumble-fucks some risk/reward scenarios. Most other games that have these things don't have them as prominent, viable or as strong as they are in DBFZ.

Have you seen the double absorb combo stuff for her? Solo, no assist combos with two move steal built in. Good damage too.

Hmm depends what the problem is. Maybe work on the timing of cancelling one move into another. This was the major input difference for me coming from primarily dial-a-string games. Basically don’t press the next button until around the time the previous move activates (maybe shortly after). You’ll get the timing with a little work :)

Yeah a lot of people seem to get sore thumbs and such on pad, I've heard. Ive worked with my hands most of my life, on top of my boxing and mma stuff years ago and the result is my hands barely have pain nerves left, except down in the joints, lol (fuck you early on set arthritis).. but the positive result are thumbs that will probably wear through the controller before taking any appreciable damage lol.
