No chance.

Jupiter was taking indefinite Superman L's until he switched to the best character in the game MMH and took off. Not nearly the same as Cowboy dabbling with LF and Sub until he could settle on a main. Then Jupe Main'd Jax but didn't make a huge amount of noise and dropped the game early while Cowboy was winning majors. Dunno if Jupe even touched MK9.

Cowboy on the other hand was the best Shang, the best Sinestro, and the best Shinnok, with placements and wins galore exclusively with these characters throughout all 3 games.

Don't think no one is close to this level of overall loyalist success.
He's made top 8's with Jax didn't he? I wouldn't say "didn't make noise" but definitely not as successful as Wound

Isn't the whole point of being the best character loyalist only playing that one character and never using other characters in tournaments? Cowboy can have the title as the best Shinnok / Sinestro whatever player, but he isn't the best loyalist in the NRS scene. That title rightfully belongs to Jupiter.

@SaltShaker I remember Cowboy using Sonya in tournaments for MK9, so scratch off his resume as pure character loyalist title in that game. Injustice 1 I'll give him since I don't remember him using any other character aside from Sinestro in tourney. MKX he started off playing Sub-Zero for months when Shinnok was already out and then a year into MKX was using Leatherface.

Jupiter has only ever played as MMH in Injustice tournaments. Jupiter has only ever played as Jax in MKX tournaments. He's gotten consistent top eights in both games using nothing but his one respective character in both games, and has also majors under his belt.

Pretty sure Jupiter didn't go to any tournaments until a couple months into Injustice when MMH came out. Maybe Injustice 2 will be the first ever NRS game Jupiter decides to use more than one different character in tournament. That would be hype.

he used Superman a few times actually. But not enough for it to really matter IMO.

I'm skimming through so many Injustice tournaments and can't find a single clip of him using Superman in tournament, lol. Did he go under a different name or something before MMH came out?

A few locals here and there. Some monthlies. Maybe once at a major in pools cause it didn't matter. Like i said it wasn't enough to actually matter lol. You know when you are going to win no matter what and you just pick a secondary. Situations like that

Yeah, I could see anyone trying or using out different characters at things like locals, casuals, or online. I was mostly referring to majors and big online tournaments where everything is serious and counts which I've never seen Jupiter switch off his main.

I was a Shang Tsung main myself and had some of my best ever Injustice ranked matches against that absolute monster, so I'm a huge fan myself, but can we please stop calling him a character loyalist? The man went on record as absolutely despising Shinnok and mained Sub before him.

Ya pretty much. He might of tried Superman in the lex MU once. Lost then went back to MMH lmao. Since superman breaks lexs derp armor. Same with maybe Doomsday. But again that could of been a monthly. I cannot remember every event lol

Maybe he switched to MMH before he began travels, but I definitely remember a quiet Superman prior. Either way it's probably besides the point.

If we're talking in tourney how many tourneys did Cowboy use LF? Zero? Once? I remember the "switching to LF" hype but never actually saw this LF at a major unless I don't remember. 16 Bit for example used Frost for quite a while until he switched to Catwoman who was on the launch roster, but is still seen as a loyalist and the face of the character. Pig wasn't sold on Zod originally but settled in with the character and ran havoc. I consider that as much loyalist an action as having that character on launch day.

NRS scene loyalist can go a long way. I have a hard time understanding the Jupiter argument. No success in MK9, dominant success in Inj1, minimal limited time success in MKX, does not warrant a #1 NRS Scene loyalist in my eyes. Not comparatively to the character success of Cowboy.

I guess we should just respect to disagree. I don't know, I just can't see someone parading around calling themself a 100% loyalist if they aren't. It's kinda like someone claiming to be 100% faithful to their significant other but deciding to sleep behind the other person's back a couple times, but less serious of course.

I don't see what's wrong with being called the best Shinnok main / Face of Sinestro / whatever player. Being called the best loyalist in the entire NRS scene when there are players that have never switched off their mains ever since day one of the game's launch (or character's release if DLC) when competing in tournaments is stretching it a bit, IMO.

Might as well start calling f0xy the best Lao loyalist if we're just talking about who is the face of the character or who has had the most success with the character. Loyalist has kinda lost it's value nowadays, IMO. Even though it's never really meant much since day one and is just fake props. I just remember the term being connected to people who you would never EVER see switch or play another character no matter what happened in tournament.

I understand where you're coming from. I guess the term "character loyalist" is used incorrectly.
I don't look at Wound using LF seriously. I can't remember him using LF in a major.
He was trying out Sub in the beginning but he was sold on shinnok pretty early in the game's life.

I feel like you're just moving the goalposts for Jupiter out of personal bias but won't do the same for Wound.

Either way though they're both great players in their own right.

Goldi

Noob
Cowboy doesn't counter pick or learn different characters specifically to cover bad match ups. He's always been a loyalist and a very successful one.

Tanno

The Fantasy is the Reality of the Mind
The best loyalist would be Madzin. I have seen him playing only Sub Zero in all forms (human and cyber).

Johnny Based Cage

The Shangest of Tsungs
Wound despised Shinnok as a character and then decided to play him anyway, probably as the result of some combination of his tier placement at the time and everyone always telling him that he was Shang Tsung's spiritual successor.

Would we be considering @16 Bit the same character loyalist champion we do if he despised Catwoman but made the switch to her from Frost anyway because she was better and a closer match to his old main Kitana?
