I completely get your reasoning. Perhaps I'll give UB another go online, using this more consistent methodology.

As for GM though, let me get this right, you're not going to play with him now? Don't get me wrong, I'm all about being a low tier hero (thus, all the work I did on UB from way back), but to switch away from a character you know very well when money and placings are on the line? You're sounding like Salt Face, my friend =)
Correct, I don't plan on using him anymore going forward (unless he gets fair nerfs). In all honesty, there isn't a whole lot of money on the line anymore in Europe and I already have a proven record of placings. Right now, I'm playing this game to have fun, and GM just isn't any fun to me anymore. It's too easy to get the clone on screen and abuse the hell out of it.

GM has always been a weird character, because he shut down some characters completely, but got obliterated by others. This all has to do with how often you have to use the ice clone to make your terrible strings safe-ish. Since launching armor isn't really a thing, the only thing stopping him is a couple of bad match ups. I'm not saying he's the best character in the game or necessarily the easiest of wins all the time, but the playstyle just doesn't appeal to me anymore, now that you have to think even less about putting a clone on the screen.

Speaking of frames, as I talk about here, the only quasi-safe Aura cancels on block with regular strings, besides F4, are 3 and 11:

That said, I'm curious to double-check 123 since they changed the cancel frames on that and I see Taco getting away with it, lol.
I bet the frames are terrible lol. Like I said, this wasn't my best play. I cringed every time I did a string into aura... It's because I usually play on Hitbox, but was too lazy to plug it in. I guess my fingers slid over 2 or something.

Ha, no worries, man. Plus, like you say, if you condition the opponent by doing 12~Burst and 123~Burst, then you can start mixing in staggers, throws, and even Aura cancels.

I hear that. After grinding UB for so long though and never playing GM, getting some easy wins with a character I put so much time into feels pretty good, lol. I can imagine it getting boring though. That's what happened to Wargod Kotal for me at the beginning of MK's life.

@rubmytaco something I noticed in your video, after parrying a low profile poke you tend to intentionally whiff the first hit of 242 to launch. You can squeeze more damage by backdashing into JIP, there is enough time for it, the JIP restands the opponents hitbox and you can get a proper combo.

Yes and no. If there's one thing I've learned from playing fighing games over the years, it's that frame data isn't everything. While b12 or f42 aura is indeed 'asking for a punish', you can occassionally catch people off guard who are expecting frost bomb or slide instead. It's their turn regardless, but at least you have aura up to negate chip damage.

I've gotten away with the craziest things (c.q. crossovers after 123 because the opponent was expecting a special cancel), and although you can't rely on this to work at all, you can get away with it at times. Whether or not that's a smart thing to do is a different discussion.
Sure this is true, but punishable gimmicks, like 50/50s, are only worth it if the risk reward is in your favor. Now that Unbreakable is a playable variation, people will start to punish bad aura cancels more and more consistently. I don't really think its worth the risk most of the time, and shouldn't be talked about as if its a safe and reliable option.

Indeed I don't know the frame data, because I'm not the math guy here, and this is why I leave the frame data stuff to you guys, who know about them. I never was good with math, and I'll never be in the future. So, to let you know.

I only know by feeling if anything is safe/slow/fast/etc or not, if you know what do I mean.
Then you can't really propose that one option is better than another, or even engage in proper discourse over strategy/tech because you will end up spreading misinformation. You don't even need to know the exact numbers for the cancels, its easy enough to set an ai to reversal and test what's safe yourself.

Nice job here. After Parry in the corner, using jump over 2 will make your follow up combos easier to land, instead of an empty jump. You need to be careful about using wake up Parry against characters with a good NJP like Raiden. If PL hadn't dropped his corner combo in the third round it could have ended badly for you. Lastly, after B33~EX Aura on hit, you'll want to go into instant forward jump 1 or just B12, as this will give you enough time to confirm into Ice Ball.

Of course, the above is all easier said than done in the heat of the moment, so again, overall, well played.

Oh, and you need to be careful about Sliding that much in the neutral and knowing what Parry will and won't block (just watched Illusions video).
