I just want to understand. You want free dlc because it took them a long time to fix a broken game?
Well, yes. Absolutely. Its far from unprecedented in the business world to customers 'freebies' when a business has thoroughly screwed up in some way. Its been done with DLC for other games in the past as well. Its not an unreasonable ask by any means. Its an unreasonable DEMAND - but not an ask.
TL;DR -
Do we 'deserve' free DLC? Not exactly.
Is it likely we will get free DLC? No.
Is asking for free DLC outside the realm of what is reasonable? No.
Is this somehow damaging or unfair to console players because they bought KP2? No/Debatable/Not the issue at hand.
Will you continue this argument past this absurdly long MKX-is-downloading-post? No. Ive made my point(s)
PC players bought the game and it's available DLC and paid for it, just like console players did.. The difference however is that for months at LAUNCH the game was unplayable by numerous people. I was actually able to play at launch, but after the first patch I wasn't. The PC version then had a series of ongoing issues we had to weather in order to play. Of course the netcode was a cross everyone had to bare (yes, that's an over the top way of putting it) but it was still an issue and counts on the over-all tally of annoyances.
After sticking with a game for months and months that was unplayable for as much, if not longer, than it was playable, and buying the DLC and such and just expecting/hoping/supporting, we were treated to the news that more DLC was coming along with improvements that would make the game playable online in a REAL way, along with additional tweaks and balance changes and blah blah. Except we weren't invited. We had been shafted, and pooped on, and ignored and when light was FINALLY starting to shine on the near-future of the game, PC players were simply told to piss off. We weren't given any apology that I'm aware of, or any recompense. Just shown that they were making MKX the game it could/should have been, and we weren't allowed to play it because our PC money didnt count.
We had paid the same as you all as well as (at least some of us) stuck by a very thoroughly broken product and tried like hell to make it viable and fun. We practiced and read and researched and learned but could not actually play in the end. Not only did we not get the netcode and last DLC, but we receive no balance patches either. No updates of that nature.. Which effectively kills a competitive game. I cant practice with/against Tremor.. In my version he's strong. In the current (I believe, I haven't followed MKX in a while) version he's been nerfed. How can I practice, or do much of anything effectively when playing a version who's characters are many many changes distant from what I have access to?
Now, I'm not saying we HAVE to have free DLC. I'm not lighting my torch and grabbing my pitchfork and preparing to bitch and whine because I finally have something I've wanted since day one of MKX (the netcode) - but now I want MOAR. All I'm saying is that since we were treated very poorly by WB/NRS, some kind of olive branch wouldn't go amiss.
Is that fair to the console guys who paid full price? No. Its not. But PC players paid full price from the get-go and have received FAR less than console players every which way you look at it. The argument about what is 'fair' doesn't fit this scenario. The thing is, this isn't about PC vs Console and I don't know why some people want to make it about that. (not saying you are, its just a comment trend) Its about PC being shafted by NRS. If the shoe was on the other foot, I would be in full support of the console players seeking some reparation(s) for the crap treatment they had received.
If the DLC is released and its full priced and NRS flat out says 'We have to sell it to fund the PC version' I'll scoop it up and shrug and say 'It was worth it. I like MKX', but outside of them saying that, I feel like we absolutely deserve it either free, or heavily discounted.
