The only ones not set in stone are Skarlet and Shang. Skarlet's stock dropped off a bit as time went on, and Shang has been considered very good for some time thanks to Wound and Detroit.
I can agree with that. I would even put Skarlet at #10 or even a toss up with Sindel tho sindel did not have those ferice some blockstrings and overhead mixups.

Even though I've had more success against sindel then Skarlet. She truly was a brand new character that probably would've fit well with mkx more so then mk9.

Those delayed dagger strings with the slide. That woman would cut the stage and most zoners in half while still advancing safely to some degree and while still keeping ridiculous pressure.

A watered down broke man's Kabal is what she was.
 
Guys, wouldn't it be crazy if the entire community decided to go back to mk9 and make it the main game again? Just think about that and how crazy that would be. That'd be fucking awesome .

It would be nice. The game's fun, but the broken stuff pushes people away in general lol. :(

Wish the Trilogy Edition would reignite some sort of a spark.

It would, but the game is just too broken. Even with the TE patch they are doing, there is no way to fix the input bug, the meter drain glitch, and P1 advantage. Those are the reasons another patch wouldn't have saved MK9, NRS basically would've needed to rewrite the whole game.
 
Just curious, why did you drop mkx?
cause it has no footsies,is based on 50/50 and armor guesses,it does not have proper antiairs and anticrossups,it is very offensive oriented and it made me really salty every time i lost a "guess game"...also the roster didn't have a character designed for my style of play,i mostly played ferra/torr luckey(although i could play the whole cast in some degree),and in general i couldn't adapt with this 50/50 bullcrap...i couldn't adapt to this yolo playstyle and i couldn't even find pleasure when i won(i am one of the best players in my company,and won most of the time,but i was getting really angry despite the result...).i also found myself be really offensive sometimes and finaly i desided to drop it...in mk9 i never had this problem and i played the game from the start(i play the mk series for years,i even played the shaolin monks xD,and i was really hyped when mk9 released).
now in sfv i found joy again although i get a bit salty with some random shoryukens :p
i love the footsie game in sfv and i missed it a lot since mk9...i love the whiff punishes,the antiairs and even the execution required in contrast with mkx(which i think is designed for casual players and not for competitive play...)
in sfv i main necalli,and i have explored ryu,alex and nash a bit...

If Trilogy Edition is able to fix most characters and and only leave input bug, meter gain glitch and p1 advantage, how frequent will it be to cause major issues in side tournaments for this game?

Input bug is well, out of the question. Couldn't find anything other than some bool properties called EnableController.
P1 Adv. is just a mystery. I assumed initially it was some sort of setting, but I haven't been able to find it. My guess is that it's a glitch of some sort, but what causes it is an even bigger mystery.
Meter drain bug may not be out of the question at least, not yet. I found a few entries in the startup file (not ATTACK STARTUPS, it's a file called Startup.xxx that loads a lot of important technical information for MK9, such as the player select screen, story mode setup, etc) that points towards code of the meter drain. Haven't been able to fix anything though.
I'm also hopeful stages can be normalized via removing excessive amount of special FXs (Hell, for example) and since MK9 has unused arena DLC functionality, they'll be added that way, thus leaving the original arenas intact while adding in these new normalized ones. Air breakers being nerfed is definitely a possibility and found numerous references to it. So some gameplay changes are in the cards, unfortunately, not much can be done. I need to do more research.
 
Some things that MKX does are just amazing and are 100% irreplaceable IMO. Intros MUST stay. The character designs are some of the best I've ever seen. Ever. Brutalities I really wanna see return. The list goes on and on.

Well, that is really good to hear, I really hope you find the way to do it

Oh, and I hope you didnt misinterpret my previous post, the work you are doing with this is amazing. I even tried to contribute with what I could in the beggining, as little as that was :p

Real talk, every MK9 tournament after VXG 2013 was just the old guard auto placing and then going through the motions in top 8. Very few stepped up to push the meta or force the top guys to stay sharp. It's not just the top tier, the level of play was super stagnant too. So IMO a lot of the talk of let's keep playing it'd be so hype rings hollow.

in mk9 he was the best,you are were just good...in mkx you are both good players,still mediocre compared to sonic fox...still he was the best,something you haven't achieved in any of those games...so please stop this stupid argument...you said u liked mk9 more than mkx,right?u played both,so tell me,and let the ballance aside,which game requires better fundamentals?in which game you have to work really hard to open up your opponent?in which game defence mattered a lot,and whiff punish was a really important aspect?which game had unique characters,with different roles(zoners,mid range,pressure based)?in which game,you had to work really hard in order to properly undestand your character?also,you want interactables to dictate the game?for example blood god can get out from a corner with an interactable way easier than from a corner without...in which game you gain more satisfaction for beating your opponent?you know what i mean,we both played both games...please answer sincerely and seriously...

all i am saying is that in mk9 reo was the best,and in mkx fox is the best,where have you been?placing in some top 8s(in both games)?that means good,but not good enough.and how do you define better player?who makes the best reads?cause in mkx that's the better player,in mk9 better player had a whole different definition...
anyway,the post is "what makes mk9 stand out",and i asked you some questions that i would really like to hear your opinion...

Basically keeping her out and trying not to deal with her zoning. You don't want to trade with her nor get into a projectile war. Aslo how she can bait you far better then most of the cast for coming or correctly punishing her wiffs and strings. She could easily turn the tide in her favor and she had tremendously great corner carry.

She was a beast to deal with. That mk9 Kitana has nothing on mkxl kitana on how she plays. Mk9 was smart and intelligently well put together with minimum problems compared to mkxl kitana.

My mains just didn't win the match ups.

Hilarious comparison. Except sex with my first was godlike. So good that we were broken up for years and I was still hitting it. She was in year long relationships, engaged to be married and everything and I was still tearing it up in hotel rooms lol. Went in for about 4-5 years until she tried to have me break up with my girl to try a relationship again and that was a hell no lol. GOAT Level sex didn't change with time. It was what it was.
