General/Other - Scorpion Should Scorpion's Teleport Have Armor At All Times?

Scorpion's reversal game sucks, no questioning that. With only 2 options that both also suck, his EX-Takedown and EX-Teleport ( Only on Wakeup ). Do you guys think this should be changed so that he has armor on his teleport at all times?

Naw, that would be a little to OP. For scorpion to just teleport around everywhere. On reaction, his regular teleport is fine.

He does have a weak reversal game, but every character has to have weaknesses.

Yeah, just gets annoying that sometimes I have to sit there and not able to armor for much damage. It'd be nice if his EX-Takedown started up faster maybe? Just a thought. Kinda just throwing the idea around.

That's an idea. It's a weak move for sure.

The way I think about it is that sure it doesn't lead to a lot of damage, but scorpion doesn't use a lot of meter. So the move is always going to be there if you need it as a reversal.

Maybe change up your oki strategy, to make the move scarier for your opponent. Then they will respect your reversals more. Idk, if that's the kind of feedback your looking for though.

Very true, I guess it's just about how respectful I play though. I wait my turn, don't press buttons a lot, so that's probably my problem. I'll try it though.

What's wrong with just doing ex teleport as a reversal. It doesn't have armor sure but it leaves the screen quick enough so that not many characters can catch him

As a Ninjutsu specialist, even I don't believe that Scorpion's EX Teleport needs armor outside of wake-up. That would be a little crazy for my tastes.

Now a faster start-up for EX Takedown? I'd take that.

Don't forget, though, you have an impressive arsenal of crouch normals to challenge their offense with. Your D1 is 6 frames, D3 is 7 and D4 is 8, and all are useful in their own way including interrupting staggers.

I'd also experiment with cancelling your pokes into a fake teleport regardless of whether they hit or are blocked so as to get yourself out of dodge.

EDIT: His 7-frame S3 deserves an honorable mention for when it comes to challenging staggers. It's effective against Kotal Kahn, as an example, way more so than S1.

Because I actually don't think it would help that much anyway. For the intents and purposes of why you would want to use an armored move in close quarters, people would just OS advancing jab checks against it and still block it in time and/or make it whiff.

All NRS have to do is make Inferno the Warlock of Scorpion and make that the go-to variation for better armor. If there was a house named "most pointless EX moves", Inferno would certainly be knocking on it's door right now.

I'm pretty sure every savvy Scorpion player couldn't care less about what parts of the screen it could be used from, Scorpion isn't exactly boned from full screen. They simply want a better armored move period.

No it's fine as it is. Teleport by itself is still fats enough to get you out of certain situations.

Sentimental? I am not being nostalgic about mk9.. I explained how it would translate in game in an area that scorpion players are overlooking.
An armoured launcher would make him OP.
Regardless if it is used as a reversal or from full screen.

Yeah, now that I'm thinking about it a faster EX-Takedown would be great. It'd be more like a slide that Sub Zero or Reptile has.

Very true. I have so much fun with Inferno but it's projectiles have awful start-up times. Not to mention that it doesn't do anything better than the other variations.

I think Inferno just needs faster projectile start-ups, that's the only thing I can think of to fix it.
 
I actually think it should have armor. It's already evasive as it is, but when it fails to evade Scorpion can get really shafted.

Takeda's ultra safe strings for example. If you teleport too late his whips can catch you and it can really mess Scorpion up.

I think Scorion still needs a little help, and I don't think giving armor to his EX teleport is asking too much. There is too much cheap and crazy shit in this game.

There many other characters in this game that have armored launchers. Predator and Alien for example. And there are so many ways to stuff his teleport as well, like nJP or poking him with d3 on wake up. God forbid that they shouldn't make his EX Teleport marginally better.

It's already evasive as it is, and giving it armor will make it slightly better.

When his EX teleport gets catched he's already lost 1 bar of meter, and probably eating a combo when he gets caught. Like Takeda's whips.

What about armor on ex spear instead of teleport? I think that would be a little better if they were going to give him armor on anything.
He can't use two Spears in one combo so it wouldn't get to much damage off of it but he could use it to armor through projectiles and gaps. I don't think that would put him over the top but really I feel scorpion is in a good spot atleast in hellfire and ninjitsu so none of this is needed at all for him
