They could simply have been mistaken, dude. I know it's GameSpot and all, but at least it's more credible than a no-name site.
Yeah looking back at it they probably just mixed the games' releases up but still, if youre going to write an article with only 2 bits of info in it you should probably make sure they are right

I'm not surprised, motherfuckers
excited as fuck, only issue will be choosing a main as i love so many DC characters, what a great problem to have though

Agreed. But human error and all. :p At least it wasn't completely ass-backward.

Actually.. run mechanics would be cool. Imagine batman throwing batarangs mbing then catches them.
Imagine another game with no viable zoning characters where run up button distance is also jump in distance. Imagine Bane getting in for free because you can no longer punish his forward dash on reaction, the entire key to playing against him in the neutral

No.

No run

No variations

No block button

This is not mortal kombat x

You have to be able to see the fundamental differences between the games, mechanics that are in one dont always work with the other

I have a feeling the majority of the newcomers are gonna be based on who'll be appearing in the upcoming DC films and who's appearing in the current TV shows. Characters like Black Canary, Supergirl, Vixen, a couple of characters from Suicide Squad(preferably Killer Croc and Captain Boomerang), possibly Black Manta and whoever the villain is in the Wonder Woman movie(if it's not Ares).

It also wouldn't surprise me if they put in Scarecrow since he was the main villain in Arkham Knight.

Well, that's disheartening, not for Injustice, but for the future of MK, i really liked the variation system, and i wouldn't want to see it go, even if they reduced the number to 2 per character to further differentiate them.
It sucks but I can imagine variations being a bitch from game developing perspective

Here's some other circumstantial evidence for Injustice 2:

A quote from Geoff Johns on being promoted as well as remaining Chief Creative Officer where he mentions present involvement with Netherrealm and character choices:

"My job is to help other Warner Brothers divisions work with DC. I work with Warner TV and producers to get these shows up and running, in particular with The Flash, where I co-created the show, wrote a few episodes, wrote the pilot episode," Johns said. "I work with other people, Ames Kirshen in games, the studios like Rocksteady and Netherrealm, go in there on character choices, story they’re going to do and brainstorm on that, try to keep it true to comics."

I would rather have a Kombat Pack 3 and 4 for the next couple of years than Injustice. Don't get me wrong, I loved Injustice but MKX is still good for a while.

joker killed him in the comics leading up to Igau 1 release

i would play it!! the only new fighting game i can play without getting frustrated/bored is ki

I personally don't think any variation is useless, just unexplored to its potential. The game is still very within its first year and I don't think the game has a variation that is an 8-2 or 9-1 matchup
Have you ever played Necromancer v. Kobu Jutsu/Dragon Naginata? At best, it's 3-7 Tanya. At worst probably a 2-8 Tanya.
