Pre-patch Cyrax. But luckily NRS made sure nobody would ever overrate him again by replacing his damage, set-ups and swag combos with a flaming bag of dogshit.

People in here mentioning Shaolin KJ, lol. Who's overrating him? Hardly anybody in this community thinks Shaolin is top 5. Just look at the Top 5 After Patches thread. Only 6 (?) people there think he's top 5. He's definitely top 10, IMO, but not top 5.

There were a couple of people at some point months ago hyping up Shaolin on status updates, but nothing really credible to back it up, so that's why I at least put it on there as an honorable mention.

The only time Erron was "over-rated" was vanilla, and then the nerfs came every patch afterwards. That's what happens when Sonic picks up your main. Outlaw's meterless BnB has never recovered...damn furries...

I still think predator is one of the most overrated. He literally has a hard time playing mkx like the majority of the characters. Outside of HQT he's not really a zoner, all of hit attacks are slow and start high, and he's extremely punishable on the majority of his stuff. He literally gets poked out of a lot of his stuff now, and always has.

Kenshi Kenjutsu is almost there, possessed is not too far behind but balanced is in the pits as of now yet people seem to think that one unsafe move that requires meter makes him ok.

This thread is all about opinions I understand, but why do you find Bone Shaper to be kinda bad? I'd say BS is still really good.

Sorry, I see my mistake. I meant to say I think he isn't all that great, he isn't bad and it was a mistake of me to say that. I just think the nerf to the restand is a little annoying imo.

Well the F41D2 loop pre-patch was sorta stupid I gotta say.

It totally depends. I see people say that CZ0 is good, that Kotal is top 5, that Scorpion has no losing MUs, that Mileena 7-3s Alien, that Shaolin Jin vs Sub Zero is the worst MU in the game, etc.

Kenshi is without a doubt the most underrated character on the game. People accept that Jason may be good, that Shinnok is good. The Kenshi community is the only one left that does NOTHING but downplay a very good character.

Edit: It seems like you guys want the character to be bad, unless he gets buffed to top tier. Like, he's good now, finally, and you guys still act as if he's the same. You ignore Pig's guides, his performance in the ESL, and essentially put off this attitude that's like "well Pig's just a god, i'm just gonna continue to whiff tele flurries and cry for buffs".

No I disagree tweedy. I think Kenjutsu is all right and possessed isn't bad I just think some of there tools feel a little out of place compared to how good some of their other options. Also I gave major props to Pig on his performance at ESL, more than I have ever given a MKXL player. I can link you my posts on his performance and appreciation towards his possessed guide where I literally say the video has leveled up my play.

I don't hold anything against you for not seeing those posts as the site is vast but I would appreciate it if you didn't say things that are not true.

lol watching reo vs. gunshow and reo has to throw out kenshi's telekinetic moves on a GUESS (read: read for you hipsters) that gunshow would run in on him or stand. It was terrible to watch. When the majority of your damage comes from run up - throw your character is kinda garbage. Or maybe leatherface is a bad mu for kenshi. Who knows, not I certainly, but that video did nothing for balanced kenshi anyroad

Yes balanced is very bad, his frame data is nonsense in the current meta of the game or just about any fighting game I know about. On the right read you get a small amount of damage, on a wrong read it can spell disaster. With no OH threat or any real plus frame specials to abuse his only real close range threat is a throw like you said and throws were nerfed last patch. With some really sexy specials buffs he can become viable yet keep his status as a no mixup character.

Kenjutsu is fine but I find it interesting to note that his weakest points are those he shares with balanced. His push is actually quite negative and the frames are no better on EX (In balanced however they are), and his tele grab is like -47 or something ridiculous like that and on a hit it spaces the so that they are not close enough for Kenshi to get a mixup but close enough for a FULL combo punish if he whiffs another grab. It should go back to being a 3/4 screen mid where the opponent will be spaced perfectly after a grab. Either that or make EX a mid/make it a mid but give it an even worse vertical hit detection. I love kenjutsu I just wish all of his tools were nice and whats worse his badass brutality can only be performed by using multiple pushes during the match

Possessed has a gimmick with his teleport that is almost a full fledged game changer and piece of dirt that has the potential to make him a top tier variation (like I said Kenjutsu is good and better than possessed as of now but other character kinda do what he does already whilst this move is incredibly unique). It's so close to being so good it makes me really mad to think about it. As of now it can be AA easily by multiple characters which kinda ruins the move as the EX version has no armor on the way down and the move cannot be done in air for more surprise attacks. In fact the EX move does nothing but give armor exclusively on WAKE UP (it's not even a frame faster). I feel this is an over-site and a complete shame. The only other problem with this variation (besides meterless damage being like 22% of a high) is the restand. While very good he needs a bar for a true mixup and if the opponent crouch blocks they will generally be ok since they will take about 29% from the restand combo (1 bar) and the one 1 bar OH for a measly 13% which adds up to 42% when a two bar combo does 45%!

I really like this character I just think some of his tools are intentionally being left in a crappy state which takes away from my experience with him.
