I've been messing with some setups for Rashid. Trying to get stuff with the same buttons for quick recovery and delayed.

Corner

After forward throw:
st.HK, st.HP, st.HP (crush counter frame kill setup, works on any recovery into reversal jab)

Midscreen

After MP spinning mixer (fully mash)

cr.HP, st.HP (crush counters quick recovery, both)
cr.HP, st.HP, cr.MP, st. HP (crush counter long recovery)

Throw Loops (these were copied from Japan, through Art's discord chat):

Quick Rise: (lose to 3 frame)
Rashid: Throw, Forward Dash(+1), Throw
Rashid: Throw, Forward Dash, Throw Whiff, LP mixer whiff(+2), Throw

Throw/mixups from a sweep crush counter
Rashid: Sweep, Forward Dash, LP Mixer whiff, Forward Dash, Throw

Big damage combo:

Full Screen V-trigger, ex eagle spike, LK eagle spike, ex eagle spike, mp spinning mixer
I've never considered exploring a meaty s.Fierce setup that blows up both techs. I'll have to experiment with it, sounds like there's lots of potential there - thanks for the heads up. And yeah, I have a number of setups that cover wiffed meaties on teched wakeups and I have a pretty advanced understanding of his corner game. Rashid is so much fun to lab with.

What's your Capcom ID? We should play sometime.

Yeah, because his st. HP has so much range, he can blow up both techs at the same time.

The way the corner HK,HP,HP setup works is if they tech, the HK hit's very meaty, leaving you at -0 or -1 instead of -2. I like it better than the dash up method because there's nothing for them to react to, and it's harder for them to blow it up (they need to do something invincible).

We should definitely play sometime, my CFID is: Zen_RipTorn

Beware your Fears
played vs 30+ platinum players since the release of SFV in either a FT5 or FT10 ( not counting the ones who joined my lobby got beaten in the first match and left rigt away )
these are the 3 platinum players who have beaten me in a set in SFV so far
- prodigal_Son, Spizder, Phenom
GGs to them

Im not saying all the other platinum players Ive played are frauds although they were using their main...

but capcom fix this RQ issue already ffs -.-
currently there are more legit players in the normal gold / silver ranks than platinum ranks

DUDE sick stuff! Definitely gave me a lot of stuff to try is there any that you go to more than the others ?
For sure, glad this stuff's insightful. Here's the best options, imo.

Jab Mixer (full mash), dash Forward, c.Fierce
-This will be your most used meatie setup more than likely
-c.Fierce is so active that the first hit will land meatie vs a neutral quickrise, and the 2nd hit will hit meatie vs a back quickrise
-On CH the first hit of c.Fierce can combo into ex.WWS when cancelled. An easy 300-ish damage combo is CH c.Fierce(1hit) xx ex.WWS, s.Fierce xx rh.EagleSpike
-On CH the second hit of c.Fierce crush counters so you can do whatever you want. s.Fierce xx... or dash-forward, s.Strong... are both strong follow ups
-The only downside to this setup is that c.Fierce is -2, so if the opponent just blocks it's their turn technically
-if c.Fierce wiffs (if they do not quick-rise) just immediately perform another c.Fierce. After the recovery either throw or do s.Short. The meatie throw beats mashing and the s.Short hits meatie. You'll be +5 on hit so s.Strong will link where it otherwise couldn't.

You can get this exact same setup off of Strong Mixer (full mash) if after you: land, dash forward, s.Short, c.Fierce(hits meatie)

The other important setups are off of forward throw in the corner:
dash forward, throw (beats all buttons 4f and slower, loses to 3f)
-if they don't tech (after wiffed throw), roll, s.Jab (hits meatie) or delay throw 1-2 frames

dash forward, s.Short (beats all buttons)
-if they don't tech (after wiffed s.Short), wiff s.Strong, wiff c.Forward: meatie s.Short or Throw

There are others, but I'd suggest mastering those first. You get the most mileage out of them

Thanks bro sounds legit! Yo got this one setup in the corner end in strong spinner (mash 2) st.hk corpse hop then wall cling v skill down crossup

Also working on a stun reset in the corner backdash three times v trigger roll st.hp roll kick then v trigger gets there just in time for another mixup sacrifice some dmg but potential for more would appreciate if you guys could help me work out the kinks

So it begins. A meaty that isn't plus on block kind of the defeats the purpose of a meaty but I imagine in-time every character will be meatying both wake-up timings with something that's plus if blocked and converts to a full combo on hit that will likely loop the situation. This game isn't meant to have vortexes yet these might as well be vortexes

Can anyone recommend a good online tutorial for an absolute beginner? not really sure who I want to main, just want to get a handle on basic mechanics.

would an online tutorial be better than the in game tutorial?

The in-game tutorial will probably show you the basics, it's always good to do these first because they usually focus on true beginners so it wouldn't be a bad idea to check it out. Also there's a couple of videos here on this thread that se body posted a couple weeks ago that has awesome stuff you can go back a few pages and you'll find it. And ofcourse online tutorials are everywhere. Just go into training mode a lot, that's the key really.

UltraChenTV on YouTube has some of the best beginner tutorials for fighting games in general, and have recently done a system mechanics and training mode series for SFV.

As for character specific videos, try Bafael and Momochi. They both seem to be getting round to covering the entire roster, and doing so in great detail beyond just 'here's some combos you're never gonna use', but they've only covered a handful so far. You could do much worse though.

The in game tutorials are awful. The system mechanic ones aren't too bad, but the character ones are just horrible.

Took me 2 years on this site to get my "niche". And I'm finally known for being the SF tutorial linking guy... I love it. :')

No problem man. Oh, and one more thing - I link everybody new to SF to this. It should be your FGC Bible:

The footsies handbook.
Cool. Man I feel like this game and MKX could not be more different. I feel my MK experience has literally zero value for starting street fighter. It's basically as if I'd never played a fighting game before lol

They're totally different in my opinion. Playing SF and really just working on my fundamentals drastically improved my MK game. I learned to play the player, rather than the character. It'll be frustrating learning SF, but don't give up - I promise you it will have great benefits :)

If you ever want to play some games on SF hmu. We'll play Ryu only, 1 jump per match, no dashing lol :p
