Agree re Jin's placement. Any variation-specific buffs should be focused on ancestral and shaolin, as those should ultimately be structured as his go-to variations imo. I would be fine with Bojutsu being his least viable variation (I think it is already inferior to shaolin and only better than ancestral because of the stun arrow timer).

Reminder - this isn't a be all end all type of thing. It's an opinion. it's stated as such.

Had to back up and remind myself of that. There's no consequence to you if his opinion about Mileena is different than yours. What comes from it? If Mileena continues to suck, great. You get to say I told you so on the internet. Or, she shows some viability and starts doing well. Then he gets to say "I told you so" on the internet.

And keep in mind that i'm not saying with my theory that it'd be possible to shut Shinnok's 50/50s down. I just think that it'd be better to focus on Shinnok's movement, rather than just fuzzy guarding when he runs in, or just randomly holding down and randomly letting go. If you do the latter two things, delays will get you every time.

Shinnok's overhead is 18 frames. You're not reacting to the low since you're already holding down. By the time you react to the movement of Shinnok, you've already blocked the low, since it's too fast to react to.

While 18 frames is quick, it's much easier to react to such a speed, if you only have one option, which is let go of down block. If you're reacting to a low or overhead that's 18 frames, obviously that's not possible. You're just guessing.

Basically the driver of my thought is that Shinnok does not move before he does either the overhead or low. There's nothing that he can do that's similar, or that he can stagger effectively, that can fake the defender out. There are also no other overhead or low launchers that he has, that can disrupt.

Two more things.

Shinnok is not easy to fuzzy guard, regardless, so whether you can avoid biting on delays or not, in my opinion, you're still not going to fuzzy him every time.

This is obviously not going to work online, even if it's super effective.

Again everything is my opinion.

In that regard, I do understand that there's a surprising amount of downplay. Ultimately, one of my main complaints with the empress (that I absolutely love) boils down to: "I have to make reads noooooooooo" and so I understand why she would be placed so high up. She has good tools, good damage, but the odds are pretty much always against her in this game. That's her issue. In some cases, just to HOPEFULLY get a TURN, she has to lay it all on the line with a roll. Once she's in control, she still isn't oppressive enough to keep the other person from taking a turn back. ESPECIALLY if she doesn't want to commit to the risks.

I'm still trying to get through the whole video admittedly, so I expect something like this post to be said in the Mileena section.

I hate getting into these threads, but I like Mileena so I'll bite.

I thought the f3 on knockdown was a great point that I did not think of. I always hear about how it is shit. That doesn't mean he is right (I think usedforglue said it) and I am a Mileena dickrider, but it was a point I did not hear about f3, bc I was so focused on ppl talking about how slow it was so she couldn't 50/50.

Reasonable list, shame some people get so offended over this, instead of promoting a civil discussion.

I would only trade Erron and Sonya for Mileena and Kano between A and A+, just the impression i get from tournaments though.

This reminds me of the time when @YOMI REO was making threads about the strenghts of pre patch Kitana and people were legit getting upset, like it was an offence to say something good about their character. I commend the passion I guess lol

Good listen, thanks. I can only comment on the characters I've put a lot of time in with (kotal, ermac and reptile) and I think they're all placed correctly
