Yeah, there's a cannibal perk.

@TelekineticBeing They've completely removed skills from the game. I believe that every time you level you get a point in which you can put it towards getting a perk/upgrading a perk or into one of your SPECIAL attributes. Still kind of salty about it but it's whatever
OMFG ARE YOU SERIOUS. That is so disappointing. :( the game still looks amazing though. Thanks for clarifying.

Serious bummer though, I really enjoyed the skill system because it gave us so many different options and abilities to explore. I still to this day enjoy playing Fallout 3 and NV.

Hey dude, so quick question; they completely revamped the entire leveling system huh? So before, you used to level up and gain skill points to spend every level and choose one perk. Now you have three options when you level up? Do we still have skills/skill points? Sorry if you've explained already, it's a pain to read back through.
Pretty much what @DownfouralitY said. Earlier I got to Level 8 with my character right, so you get to spend a point. If my Perception is a 5 (all SPECIAL max at 10 but you only start with 28 total points to use) I can either A) spend it on an extra point to a SPECIAL like making my Perception Rank a 6 permanently, B) buy a perk under one of my SPECIAL, for example a perk within the 1-5 range of Perception, or C) upgrade an already bought perk, for example upgrading 20% more damage with rifles to 40% more.

You can also select any of the available perks as long as they're within your SPECIAL range. So you would be able to buy the 5th perk in Perception or the 4th or the 1st on your first level up if your Perception level is 5. Being that you can see all of the perks at any time it's good to know to pick what you want easier. To upgrade perks though they get level requirements the more you upgrade them.

Well based on your description, I'm going to break this game really fast lol. Thanks for the explanation man. I am so fucking hype I cannot wait to play.

A lot of the skills now are under the SPECIAL's perks. Like you can hack novice terminals but I found a Master Terminal and I couldn't even open it. It said I needed to have Master unlocked for hacking with is a perk under Intelligence that you have to upgrade like twice. Barter skills are under Charisma perks, Melee Weapon stuff under Strength, etc.

Got it. That makes sense, still seems like they dumbed down the leveling system a little bit to me though.

Haha yea I've been playing like a fiend. Once you get past the first hour and a half it gets a lot better. I've finally started getting good upgrades on weapons/armor and cool quest so now I'm liking it a lot.

Though the only thing that truly bugs me is the immortal dog. I blew up a gas canister to kill 5 ghouls in a garage and the dog runs there and explodes with them but walks back like nothing happened. It's too stupid lol. Other than that I'm rocking it.

LOL gotta love Bethesda. I know everyone complains about how buggy and glitchy their games can be but I feel like it just wouldn't be a true Bethesda game without them.

They really have. The skill system was fine, there was no fucking reason it should have been changed. Same thing with the dialogue, it was FINE. There was absolutely no reason to change it other than to appeal to a wider demographic I guess. I wish I was as hype as you guys for this game, but every day it just looks worse and worse to me. Hopefully it wins me over when I play it but I doubt it will. :(

The dialogue is dumbed down now too?? How so? Don't break my heart.

Well, the protagonist has a voice now and you have access to a dialogue wheel in each conversation pretty much amounting to having a choice of asking a question, sarcasm, being a dick, or a positive emotion? Not really sure tbh, but instead of actually telling you what you're going to say when you pick an option it gives you like two words to try and sum it up for you. It's pretty much akin to the Mass Effect games.

Ohhhhh I gotcha. Well... That's kind of ass. But I can live with it. Lol

I mean, I get it, most people can live with it I just feel like Bethesda didn't learn a single god damn thing from Obsidian, because New Vegas was so plentiful on dialogue and it really enriched the storytelling aspects of that game, but they took a giant step back in FO4 with this shit ass dialogue system.

It's worse than that. The dude doesn't say shit lol. Like if you pick "Sure I'll help" he'll literally say that, or if you pick "maybe" when asked to see inventory he'll say "I'm just looking" Lmao! If he was going to barely talk then why add it??? I much preferred multiple options of what I want to say. Sometimes before you would have 5-6 options branching in different directions, but now you have 4, and 1-2 aren't even real options most times. I honestly wish if one thing could change it would be having the OPTION to play with old things like no voice, hardcore mode, etc. Game is Still very fun, but if you've played older FO's or FO:NV then you'll be able to tell its been dumbed down.

Dialogue sucks almost as much ass as the immortal dog. Almost.

Man, it's worse than I thought lol. As much shit as I give FO3 for having really bad dialogue, at LEAST they tried to be similar to the original games, but this is just awful. The main thing that limits the dialogue in this game is the protagonist having a voice. If he didn't have a voice they would undoubtedly have added more options in, but the voice limits it so much. I also agree about the hardcore mode, in New Vegas if you weren't using it you were basically invincible. The harder difficulties didn't do much because all it did was turn enemies into bullet sponges, and i'm guessing it's the same thing with FO4. But with hardcore mode I could play with it say on normal difficulty and still have a risk of dying in combat, and your companions could be killed too which adds an even greater risk. Why not add the option though? wtf?

I love that the npc's don't die now. Otherwise they will just blindly run into a firefight and kill themselves within the 5 minutes of you acquiring them. Great decision by Bethesda.

It restores some health, but I don't think there's a consequence from what I saw.
Is there no good/neutral/evil anymore?

Also hardcore mode was the only way I liked playing NV after my first play through. It adds so much depth to the game, you really had to think about how you handled carrying items, becoming crippled, etc. it was such an awesome addition.

I think you guys should give the new perk system a chance. From what I understand, you level quicker and you're not capped at any level so you could potentially get all the perks and specials upgraded. I was upset at first and thought it was pants on head retarded that they took out skill points, but after reading through the perks and understanding the system, I think it could still be reasonably intricate. Now you have to think about how you want to spend your level carefully rather than just dumping everything into smalls guns and grabbing a small guns perk. Plus there isn't any dumb perks like Daddy's Boy/Girl where it just adds 5 to medicine and science. That's a pretty unimaginative perk.

If I'm completely honest, I absolutely ALWAYS took the swift learner perk at the beginning of the game until I maxed it out(it gives you substantially more experience for everything you do, why would anyone not take this) and then maxed out my speech as early as possible. So it'll be nice to build a new gameplan. Do you know if karmic alignments still exist?
