I NEED STEALTH MAN DONT DO THIS TO ME
Haha I tried to sneak up on two people only to realize they were mannequins lololol. I've got a couple people with it. The dog sneaks with you so he doesn't blow the cover. It starts you off with a 2x damage, but haven't unlocked sneak perks yet.

Ok so the SPECIAL and Perks system works like this-

You start the game with 21pts to add to any SPECIAL category, and each category starts at 1, so 28 total.

Once all are applied you can do things in the game (kill, craft, etc) to earn exp towards getting a new perk. You also earn exp towards leveling up and getting a SPECIAL point. These two things are not related to each other. I've gotten multiple extra perks but only one SPECIAL point so far.

You can select any perk available, regardless of level. For example, the first time you level up to a new perk, it'll ask what you want. If you have say a 5 in Endurance and a 2 in Strength, you are allowed to select any perk up to Endurance's 5th perk. The 1st available, the 4th, doesn't matter. But you cannot select the 7th or 8th because your Endurance is a 5. Where as if the Strength is a 2 you can only select one of the first two options and only those. So it's cool that you don't have to go in order, you can pick any one you like within the range of your SPECIAL.

The perks themselves level up to stronger versions. So say you have the perk where sneak attacks to 25% more damage. That perk can level up independently to have 50% more damage. Then 75%. Then double damage in its final form.

You'll have the option of changing your SPECIAL arrangement before you leave the vault at the exit door, but after that it's set for the game.

That makes so much more sense. I figured it was like each time you leveled, you could either drop it into SPECIAL or into a perk but that made me think it was a little too easy to raise SPECIALS. Thanks for clarifying that. Also, sneak you asshole.

Haha no prob.

And yea I've started messing with sneak now. Nothing crazy yet. I'm trying to get items for the silencer mod by this afternoon so I can really get the drop on them. The weaker enemies get killed by a hard sneak attack to the head. :D

Are there animations for sneak killing someone with a melee weapon?

I can't remember. I'll test the sneak animation in a second but i don't remember seeing anything too distinct.

I just used a regular name lol.

I built the first settlement with a group. Pretty cool. Hopefully it's not too tough to maintain it while out in the Wasteland.

EDIT: A correction. Each level up does go to having the option of SPECIAL points OR perk points. I didn't realize this because the first time I did a SPECIAL point like a pure Noob mashing X lol.

The Fallout Guy bobblehead looking things give you a SPECIAL point for specific categories.

So each Time you level up you can either add an extra option to be available later by upping SPECIAL +1, add a new perk ability, or increase the power of an existing perk. These are the three options each level up, but with so much to choose from seems impossible to be a "super" character so pick wisely!

I made it so far without being spoiled. It was just 2 days away. I thought I was safe. Profound sadness.

Don't read anything anywhere. It's not worth the risk.
That sucks man, I hate that shit. My friend got Bioshock Infinite spoiled for him like that. It's not the end of the world but it really changes the way you perceive characters when you know what's going to happen.

Thankfully, you can't spoil bashing a super mutants brains in with a shovel.

Or can you? :DOGE
Hey dude, so quick question; they completely revamped the entire leveling system huh? So before, you used to level up and gain skill points to spend every level and choose one perk. Now you have three options when you level up? Do we still have skills/skill points? Sorry if you've explained already, it's a pain to read back through.
