It's not that being an online warrior is pointless. Contrary to popular belief, playing online can be a great avenue of gaming and beneficial in many, many ways. Just not in MKX.

Basically what I'm saying is that it is pointless and not enjoyable in MKX because they have failed to provide a quality online experience like 95% of other games provide in this era. If their online was as good as *insert modern non-NRS game* then online would be worth every second and it would be incredibly enjoyable experience.

In MKX, with train wreck online, it is utterly useless and I refuse to even play online anymore.

I repeated the same thing 3 times in 3 different ways, just to point out how MKX is on an island by themselves with such horrible online.

Make that 4 technically. I'm out.

I think if you have an offline alternative then that would obviously be better. And on Xbox One a lot of people can't even play the online because of a bunch of issues and bugs. But I think if you dont have offline as an option(although I would always suggest trying to build your own scene first) then I think it would be up to you whether you can tolerate online or not. I stopped because personally every time I tried playing it I got mad and didnt feel like I learned anything. But I would say give it a shot and if you feel like its fun/your learning something, stick to it.

This is how I feel cuz if your good online it means absolutely nothing. In fact it might mean your BAD!

I think it being fun or not online is generally a pretty subjective thing. Some people, especially when you get acclimated to the lag, can do pretty decently online, assuming you're not in a 1 off ranked match. Like SaltShaker said though, its basically a disaster. You can practice all day in the lab then hit online and it's like playing a different game since timing is off, which sucks.

It's a reasonable way to play through different match-ups, however.

As hard as it is to say this, be glad you're on the shitty Xbox Live version of the netcode, the PC version of this game is even worse if you can imagine that.

I have played both I know the pc guys got the worst end of a stick that doesn't have a good end.

online makes your game end up being limited at times. I hate it. for example in the corner offline with Sub Zero I can b2 242 b12df2EX NJP, jump in 1, f33bf4 with ease. Online the b12 will never connect...not even simplifying it to 1,1 or 1,2...I've NEVER once online been able to connect two b2s. I hate having to tone down what I want to do ( my example combo is restricted to b2 242 f33bf4 ...and even that wont connect at times ) because of poor development.

Online has always been quite the joke. Lag tactics come into play and it's amazing to hear that there are big tournaments that are online with money on the line.

If you're an online warrior (like myself) the chances are you don't get to play offline especially competitively so online is the only option. Offline warriors need to understand that not everyone can play offline.

i think there have been plenty of examples of online players doing well at offline tournaments in a nrs game (milky at evo this year, curbo in mk9, etc.), so definitely dont think its pointless. then again i havent really had a chance to play mkx online yet so maybe i would think otherwise after reading what people have to say about it

Injustice was ok online because it was a different meta in a game that requires counterpoking and things like that unless youre playing friends who live near you and know frame data theres no point bc all youll run into is people who poke after - and win then you poking after + or neutral will lose because the game has the worst online out of all 3 nrs games since 2011 which is fucking unacceptable.

On Xbox at least, the connections are so trash that if you are even ABLE to get one, you can't even gleam anything from it.

Being an online warrior in MKX is actually wayyyy better than being an online warrior in Injustice/MK9

Online warriors in MKX can win $1000 dollars a week from the online ESL tournaments and win a chance for an all-expenses paid trip to a 100K tournament

Far from pointless haha
Forgot about this but stiill all you have to do is open up 6 tabs and pick shinnok or scorpion bc having wank connection doesnt get you dqed i mean look at mitsuownes for fuck sake

Just because online is ass doesnt make good players any less good. Props to those people for being patient enough though lol.

I will show no mercy
most online clans are dying, theres no competition, the chat is worse than mk9chat, pseudo framtraps everywhere, jumping like crazy is a viable tactic
why would anyone want to play this game online anymore? if you havent played a laggy BS you dont know the definition of suffering

Online for MKX is pretty ass compared to their earlier games like Injustice, which is unacceptable. I remember when I used to play online against a variety of different players all the time and could enjoy the experience for the most part. People ask me often for Goro and Kitana experience, but because I can't even do basic shit that is important to playing these characters optimally, I just usually don't bother. Can't instant air fan consistently in a lot of terrible lag, can't punish stuff with command grab, can't even take advantage of plus 13 frames online. It's to the point that my most played modes are single fight and training mode, not online like in other titles. I think ladder is higher on my list of most played modes lol.

People I used to connect superbly with in Injustice, I can barely connect with now. There's like three people who I can connect well with online now. Being an online warrior wasn't so bad for Injustice, offline was still obviously preferred over anything else as it always will be, but for people with weird schedules that conflict with going to locals or for people who don't have a scene near them, the online could at least be semi up to modern day standards......

A lot of this is why after Summer Jam, I'm probably going to just play other titles. MGSV is coming out, gonna playthrough GTA and go back to Last of Us cause online ruined a fun game for me.
