Losing

Hello tym community. Id like some advice on a certain issue. I really love mk10 and think its a really epic game. However there is one thing preventing me from making advancements in the game, and that is when i lose whether i lose to the ai or to an actual player i always throw my controller and try to smash it and i stay angry for about 30 minutes. I know this is not normal,i uninstalled and reinstalled later multiple times but playing like that is just wrong and stalls my progress. How is it possible that i make myself accept loss and have fun even when losing? I should respect my superior not dehumanise him. Im currently almost 19 years old and id like some advice. I should probably note that i cant play multiplayer yet since i havent bought the game. Thanks

Were you previously a call of duty player?

How are you getting mad if you don't own the game yet? Being a big baby about a game isn't normal; like you said; so try to just act like a civilized human being and go into the lab and figure out how to deal with whatever you couldn't get around. If you're throwing your controller after every match you may want to think about playing something more tame like Minecraft or Farmville.

Don’t know what to put here
I've seen an issue like that in a movie. It's called exorcist.

Lol just kidding man. Just remember it's only a game! Losing isn't fun but use it as a way to learn and grow!

I had a friend that had a real issue with raging so I'll give you the same advice I gave him. The it helps to play a "game within the game" and by that I mean play with the intention of losing. For example, start a game against the medium or hard AI and your entire goal for the match is to see how many times you can block a string and counter. It doesn't matter if you win, you are only doing this to see how many times you successfully block a full string and do some form of a counter (reversal special, low poke, throw, etc.). Once you do your counter, back off and wait for them to come in and start over. Your measurement of success is not if you win/lose but rather how many times you completed your objective.

By doing this, you can trick your brain into not caring about the loss because they don't matter. You are playing your game and it's a competition against yourself. The feeling of not being in control was a big reason for my friend's rage ("There's nothing I can do!" "I always lose!") and this is one way he was able to calm down and enjoy the game. Hope this helps.

This is not meant to be condescending or mean, just what I've found to be pretty universal.

A lot of people that lose and rage I've found because they don't understand hit advantage or footsies fully. If you get hit by ANYTHING, they are at advantage and you should be blocking their next string. Getting hit by a d1, d3, or d4 will normally guarantee pressure coming in, and will only open you up if you are trying to attack while in hit stun. The biggest learning curve in this game is learning the flow of a match, and it's different for each character. Learn which strings leave advantage (+ frames) and which frames are punishable (significant -frames).

The frustration from losing normally stems from thinking you know what you are doing or not knowing WHY you are losing. You should try to find what is catching you, what is causing you to push buttons, any tendencies or patterns you are exhibiting, etc.

Take losing as a learning experience. Don't let people beat you twice. If you just can't handle losing in general, remember even a 70% win rate loses 30% of the time; it's inevitable and there are people that are better than you at things.

"I will cut a hole in you"
Tbh a loss only makes a player stronger, its only annoying when people win and then try to talk shit through messages like its relevant to anyones being, id say just learn to breath and study them cause when your frustrated you tend to lose focus and start to make dumb decisions the whole time

I used to be just like this lmao (one or two of the challenges in MK9's challenge tower made me put a whole in a wall back when it first came out) There really isn't much you can do about it though, luckily I just stopped doing it as I got a little older, I mellowed out a ton lol

Just try and relax dude, there is really no reason to get mad at losing unless you are playing for money for something.

Fun fact: getting angry and throwing/hitting things doesn't release anger, it actually trains your mind to always do that to deal with anger. Stop yourself and take deep breaths before you lash out or you will further internalize that reaction and it will get worse.

Breathe.
Take breaks.
Remind yourself it's a game and you're not the greatest player in the world.
If you're not having fun, stop playing because that means it's just not enriching your life in any way.
