MKX XB1 "The Loading Screen of Death"

Well guys, here's a bit of hope...I have managed to at least find a work-around to the game freezing, chugging and hanging after turning it on and to the "INSTALLATION STOPPED!" bullshit with the DLC. This one work-around resolves both issues. While the work-around I found still sucks (because we as paying customers SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING to make the game functional), it sucks a whole lot less than having to deal with the game being unplayable for 5+ minutes and having half of your DLC missing. I found out this method yesterday and repeated it again this morning before I left for work to confirm that it does in fact work 100% of the time.

When I get home today (around 4:30 eastern) I will make and then post a video of what I now do to prevent these problems from happening. It's actually really easy but it's just ridiculous that it has to be done.

Tagging @tylerlansdown in hopes he sees it and doesn't forget about us...

Hey, thanks for the video and I really hope this helps the guys with this issue, but I think it would be better to either make a separate thread about this DLC loading issue or, if there is already one, post it there cause this thread was mainly created for people being "targeted" by the LSoD. Please don't get me wrong it's really nice of you to do this, but I'm not sure if people with the DLC loading issue actually check this thread at all

it is somewhat interesting that i haven't seen any reports of players having both, the LSoD and the DLC issues, might just be coincidence but it seems like people only have either LSoD or DLC... however no one seems to have both

haven't checked on the whole thing in quite a while and honestly lost interest in the game completely due to this... was looking at the WB forums a few minutes ago and there are countless different problems now with the xbone version that occured around the launch of tanya and predator...
There are absolutely no answers to be found from NRS side except for that little post tyler made...
but i'm really glad we are getting a kombat pack 2... good job NR$, def the last game i bought from you guys, not that it will bother you anyway cause you get more preorders than other fighting games sell overall.

I have both as well. I load up the game and sometimes I have the DLC, sometimes I have random skin packs or characters missing, there's no pattern.

Maybe since the patch is taking so long they could be trying to include a fix for this? God I hope this is the case ;_;
Even tho i'm not an expert at this, I'm pretty sure that's nothing a patch can fix (Only speaking about the LSoD)
Since there is no response at all I highly doubt they will do anything and we will be stuck with this forever. To be completely honest with you i'm quite sure they dont even look into it at all, the only reason for them to actually fix this would be Kombat Pack 2 not selling well on XBL...
I mean they also said the netcode will be one of their top priorities for MK X and we all saw how that turned out...

Got a reply back from WB support after giving them a bit of a serve in the last one to them. I pretty much said their support is piss poor, I want this query escalated above level1 support, and there needs to be some info communicated about this issue. Their reply was essentially the info is passed on to the dev's, but it may take time to get it resolved, but to provide as much info as you can and send via bug reports.

In all fairness, they finally did actually respond to the support requests by going through basic troubleshooting. But that is what really gave me the shits - there's a well written post (that I linked to directly), with all the info and testing that has been done AND i even reiterated all the important parts in the emails, yet they feel the need to hold my hand with "Try reinstalling, hard reset, wifi" bla bla bla bullshit.

Of the four previous emails I sent, every single one started with "as noted in the first email..." The least they can do is READ the info sent so as not to drag on their "support" emails with useless drivel to waste more of my time to reply to.

I'd much prefer a "thanks for the info provided. It will be passed to the dev team. ...", rather than what they did do.

Well paulo told me in a stream he gave all the info i provided him to their tech support as well... which was almost 2 months ago
Funny thing is he ignored literally everything people were saying about the LSoD in streams after this...
They just don't care, that's really all there is to it... Spreading a (very) occasional spark of hope every now and then was the most they did so far
Makes me sad to see many people try so hard to actually get this fixed and they just ignore everything we do...

i now quit mk for good not guna even try agin even if its fixed i still dunu how they got away with this not that i whould see any of the staff but id beat the shit out of em rant done im out

I have the game on both consoles but I always play on PS4. Never had any issues with it.

I recently started playing KI again so I loaded up MKX on my XB1 over the past week and this garbage happens to me 90% of the time.

I have my XB1 on a static IP with all of the appropriate ports forwarded. My NAT is always fully open. I did multiple hard resets on my console and my router, and disconnected every other device from the network.

Sometimes I can get online and everything works fine, but it's rare, and it never lasts very long. Eventually, usually after about 40 minutes, it will get stuck on the "connecting to online" screen and may not start working again until the next day.

I feel for people who paid money for this game on XB1 and are forced to deal with a non-functioning product. It really is unacceptable. Thank god I have a PS4 as well.

For the record, I have ZERO issues with playing KI online. I also play SF4 on my Xbox360 with no issues.

This is a problem with the game, not my connection. I realize that a lot of people play MKX on XB1 with no issues but that does not mean the game itself is not the culprit here.

Isn't it just! But in all fairness, xbox support has been good and even WBgames support did offer "support", just delayed. It's just that because it's THEIR game, you'd think they'd be able to offer something more worthwhile than "have you tried turning it off and on again".

Haven't done MajorNelson yet... but he'll get one soon enough. Just need to find the right way to word it. In hindsight the one to Boon probably should've gone to MajorNelson so he can spruik the Xbox One exclusivity :p. Might hit up Maximillion_dude as well while i'm at it.

Has anyone else tweeted any of the above and got any feedback?

Why is this even a thing? Lag i can deal with, i live in New zealand theres shit all people playing this game here so i pretty much have to play online with people who live ages away anyway. What i can't deal with is having to wait 5 minutes to play every single match. I pretty much have to get lucky and get a stable connection for a long set or i'm fucked for 5 minutes.

Also is anyone else getting an issue in rooms where the second your invite gets sent through it gets instantly declined. I even tried it with friends sending to me and me sending to them and it just says declined straight away.

Anyway i can't complain about the netcode because i can't get into the game to even see what it's like and because theres no competition here theres literally no point in me playing a game i love because i will never ever get to play offline.

The part in bold is what is most promising. Sounds like they have fix, at least as I read it. As to why they want people to contact them seems odd, they've already got my details 10 times over.

So I sent another email to tech support... still no response.

I don't want to get anyones hopes up, just restating what i've been told. Could be miscommunication, support reading something wrong... something else... But it's the most promising thing noted so far, but far from official.

Given the lack of other info from others it sometimes feels like i'm the only one bothering with this... Would be nice to get some feedback on responses that others have received, so we can see if they're at least all on the same page. It's great to post here, but emailing/tweeting/facebook-ing WBgames/Xbox/NRS is what needs to be done to get some answers. Along with pestering them on their official forum.


Anyway i can't complain about the netcode because i can't get into the game to even see what it's like

I recently just moved and now I get the loading screen of death when before I have never had it happen.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Internet speed based out of a specificll location.

When I bring my Xbox to my apartment instead of the cabin it seems to work without any problems.

I am able to play call of duty and gears no problem at the cabin however. I do know that the Internet speed is way lower than at the apartment but I'm surprised I can't play mkx at all online here (unless I want to wait forever)

I believe it might be the server is timing out based on the lack of speed in order to connect to mkx online. In my experience I have to have at least 20 mbps for online to not have any issues.

Holy shit man, nice find! So, who do I need to contact about my account? NRS or what? Also we do appreciate everything you're doing, I just don't really know what good it will do to pester them more, Tyler himself said that they're aware of the issue.
