In between matches, do you feel it helps to be playing and keeping busy? Does it boost confidence?

I have a reason for asking these questions. I'm trying to develop a clan strategy for upcoming tournaments.
it's useless to practice before an actual online match, before my match against Smascer's Tempest and after watching his other matches on stream I went to the practice option and replicated how to punish (with 100% efficiency) his teleports because he likes to throw out tele grabs in the match quite liberally ... well, guess what - I could not punish even ONE!
so offline 100% punish accuracy went down to 0% in the online match, he got me everytime with it.

I am not salty at all, but the EK2 made me realize why I had dropped online MK9 back then, and how important it is to just stick with offline for MKX as well. Playing online, also teaches you a lot of bad habits and I will list some:

- a blocked poke is more often than not negative on block, and you are not able to start offense with a block string after the opponent blocks your poke but hey its online so that shit works really well. all I see is people doing d3s and d4s over and over again blocked or hit or whatever and then you have the 'cultured' online folks with a decent record who opt to do a block string after a blocked poke that is a -10; well, that is a big no and should be punished for it with a counter poke, hell Shinnok punishes with a full combo a blocked poke (f42d1string)...this is just one example

- you tend to do half combos online, ditching your optimal bnb so you can do an online friendly version. e.g. for the life of me I cannot connect an njp in a combo if done online - this handicaps Subs corner loop clone setup thingamajig ... so no, thanks

- frame traps become obsolete, and certain strings which are 0 on block or a mere negative 2/3/4 become advantageous on block then you have those 'cultured' folks who actually integrate this into their play

my advice is, do not bother with online tournaments - play the game casually online with friends for some laughs but instead look for an offline scene where you are and if you have the possibility for it.

All fair points if you have an offline scene to attend. If your only option is online play and you enjoy online tournaments, you have to make do.

the thing is i have very much practice against SZ. my teleports with grab were not randomly or something like that, 90% of teleports were punish of your iceclone + iceball.
just a tip, best way to punish lao's teleport is to do backdash, as SZ. go down is a backup solution :)

The fact of the matter is that you were extremely laggy. I think a few other players can agree with that.

i think at EK #1 & #2 every player had extremly lag, you see it at e.g. no punishing big unsafe moves, dropping easy combos, and so on. I played vs ryukazuya at EK#1 who is also from germany and we had very big latency. if we play private -> no problem.
in my opinion it depends on koth, can remember koth from mk9 it was terrible, at mkx i think it still the same shitty netcode. Here i like the solution from tekken, there were no problems and no difference between koth and private matches connection.
it looks that connection will be established between every participator of koth and not only between fighters, so if msmiharo has stream running, which eats a lot of his bandwidth. so every player get this latency.
@llabslb and the trouble with my router depends on port forwarding issue, where i can not join another matches via invite. If i invite, it works. Have this problem since release, on PC already fixed. Can not find port list which uses mkx on ps4.
we can do some private matches to make sure that my internet connection is good enough not play without lags :)

right before our match and in preparation for it, (in practice mode) I was able to consistently do a d1 into f42 ender of choice on Lao (all teleports).
On all your teleports, I was reacting with a d1 but nothing came out ... I don't think I cloned that much to be honest in that match. I could see you doing the teleport and was going for a punish. so my punish rate offline went from 100% efficiency to 0% and you got me every with the tele grab, and I had to endure pressure after that.
another example is Shinnok, I tried doing a d2 but nothing came out (which comes out at 7 frames) and is one of the best d2s in the game.
Why should I back dash when I could punish? but hey, it's online and a lot of things can go unpunished.

Thanks to everybody who got back to me so quickly. The list is almost done. I'm just waiting on a couple of replies but once I've got them I'll post on the training section on the other board.
