MKX XB1 "The Loading Screen of Death"

Hopefully we hear more sometime this week. Would be very rude to ask for more info then go silent again after offering all the testing info we have here. I'm sure users here are more than happy to discuss/chat with an NRS dev/tech should they need it.

Regarding my testing, i've been doing the change DNS trick and probably 9/10 times it's been working on the first go. Normally it will revert to LSoD after playing for about 1hr, after which exiting MKX, changing DNS and starting again works about 5/10 times. Again it doesn't make sense, maybe still just a coincidence - but for the moment as annoying as it is it "seems" to be sort of working.

Can anyone else test this? So far it works for you but doesn't for me. A third person testing this would help to see whether it's just coincientially working for you or it simply doesn't work with me

My blade thanks you.

Doesn't work for me.

You can see all the issues I have (screenshots) on the previous page. I only have the freezing issue for the first 3-5 minutes after I turn my Xbox One on and launch MKX. After it chugs it's way through and I go into Manage Game, uninstall all the INSTALLATION STOPPED DLC, reinstall them all, quit the game then go back into the game, I'm fine to play all day long without anymore freezing issues or vanishing DLC. It just pisses me off to have to deal with this bullshit every single time I turn my Xbox One on for the day. I literally leave my Xbox One running all day long, even if I leave the house or something, just so that I don't have to deal with this shit more than once a day.

So you don't have the LSoD? Because like I said before, your issue(I have it too) is completely unrelated to online. The game will freeze and bug DLC out whether you're connected to online or not.

You're right, but no I don't have the LSoD problem that you guys do. Sorry about that.

I'm glad this problem doesn't exist on the ps4 version. Sounds like I'm always hearing something negative about the x1 version.

Pretty sure I posted something on the WBgames facebook page as well, can't seem to find it now? If someone wants to have a browse... Although I wouldn't put it past them deleting it given everything so far.

I haven't had this issue. Once it took a couple minutes at the start menu where it loads the game data, but I just restarted the game it hasn't happened since.

I decided to try wireless today and it actually worked, then I tried to go wired again and it stopped working. When I tried to go wireless again it wouldn't work either, so I don't know if this means anything but yeah. This shit needs to be fixed, and I can't believe that NRS just now is learning about this.

Even when I was able to connect through wireless every game was such a shit connection that it hardly mattered but still.

@MadCntt I want to update the op with info on spotflux. If you could explain how it works it would be very much appreciated.
First of all i would like to say that i had 6 people try this so far and it fixed the LSoD for all 6 of them. Not only that, but 5 of them told me the online experience in general felt better than before on MK X (I can as well confirm this myself)

Now, I'm pretty sure every gamer has heard of VPNs, they are highly popular for PC gaming and became very popular on consoles as well, due to many people, especially "pro players" getting DDoS attacks during their tournament matches in Call of Duty or others.
I guess the main reason why people don't use them as much for console gaming is simply cause it takes a bit more effort to set them up compared to playing from your PC.

I am nowhere near an expert on any PC related stuff however even I was able to set up a VPN within a few minutes to work on the Xb1, as well as the others i mentioned, simply following a guide on how to set it up.

Sharing VPN connection through your PC
To be able to create this set-up you will need a VPN Account (see below for our recommendations), at least one Ethernet cable and of course an Xbox and a computer. We will show you how to set it up in both Windows and OSX and if you are running Linux then there are plenty of websites to help you on the internet.

Sharing a VPN Connection with Windows 7
  1. Set up your VPN connection using the instructions/software from the provider or using the native client as we describe in our guide: How to Setup VPN in Windows 7.
  2. Connect your computer to your router either through WiFi or by using an Ethernet cable
  3. Connect your Xbox to the PC using the Ethernet cable making sure that the ‘IP Settings’ and ‘DNS Settings’ are set to ‘Automatic’ (Settings -> System Settings -> Network Settings through your Xbox Menu)
  4. Open the ‘Network and Sharing Centre’ on your computer in one of the below ways and click ‘Change adapter settings’
    • Right click your internet connection in the system bar
    • Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center
  5. Find your VPN connections – identifiable by the ‘Tap-Windows Adapter V9′ (or similar) label. We recommend you rename it by right clicking it to something more suitable. Then right click and chose ‘Properties’
  6. Under the ‘Sharing’ tab check the ‘Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection’ box. Then from drop down menu choose ‘Local Area Connection’ (if you have multiple Ethernet ports or a computer that can host a WiFi connection then make sure you select the correct one), then click ‘Ok’.
  7. Restart your PC and your Xbox and you should be ready to play securely.
This is the one i used, then again, there are MULTIPLE guides, even a bunch of youtube tutorials for every OS and how to enable the Connection Sharing for your VPN to work on your console.

You can use any VPN, I used Spotflux as a friend of mine, who got DDoSd during his CoD matches, suggested that I should use it as well and I'm a very happy with it. It's very easy to set up and offers a ton of servers to connect to.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask :)

Good luck and enjoy playing MK X again and of course a HUGE thanks to NRS for supporting us so hard -______-

@MadCntt That's an awesome write-up and I'm sure that anyone having the LSoD will appreciate it, however, I do not have this issue. If you look at previous posts, my issues (like many others) lies with the fucking DLC reinstalling every time I run the game, which results in the game freezing. Is this an issue you also have and if so, did your LSoD fix happen to also fix this problem? I wouldn't think so as it's really unrelated, but I thought I'd at least ask.

I personally did not have this issue, however, 2 people that tried this said they had a problem where tremor wouldn't unlock even tho they had the Kombat Pack. After using the VPN they said their game version updated and tremor was unlocked as well, which solved their problem.
I would suggest you to try it at least to be honest, it took me about 10 minutes to download the VPN and set it up, without having any advanced PC experience. It has a free trial version and there is no harm in trying, I use the programm fulltime now, as the general online experience feels better and smoother now on every XBL game I got :)

Good luck and I hope it helps

So do you leave your console hooked to the pc always and just connect via shared connection? Does your pc have 2 ethernet ports or do you connect wirelessly? It would be a major pain to have my console hooked to my pc all the time :(

Updated the op with Madcntt's post
If you have any trouble with Spotflux, you can just try another VPN, this fix isn't restricted to Spotflux and the guide works for any VPN :)

Yes, my PC has 2 ethernet ports and my whole gaming setup is basically next to each other, so it literally just took a few seconds to switch the cables.
I can see that this isn't an optimal solution for everyone, but it is the only one that works 100 % reliably so far and once it was set up, i started playing every game with it as the connections in general felt a lot better :)
I even want to go that far and say that this might be a decent solution to improve the overall online experience in MK X for people willing to try this.
Friend of mine and I tried playing without it enabled and then we tried both connecting to the same server which was closest to us and the difference was rather amazing. This might especially be helpful if there will be a season 2 of ESL...

Sadly this would all not be necessary if NRS would make a good netcode and fix the LSoD themselves but hey... why am I even saying this, there hasn't been any reaction since tanya release on their side... :(

@MadCntt can I use an Ethernet hub in place of going wireless? I really don't like the idea of playing off of wireless
Yes, it is very much recommended so, being wireless would be the absolute last resort if you don't have any other options to stay wired :(

I read up a bit on that whole console gaming VPNs, there's 3 main solutions on how to make it work, reaching from absultely great to only recommended if everything else is not an option.

-Most optimal would be having a VPN compatible router
-Most "common" solution is to have a MoBo that has 2 ethernet ports or a ethernet hub and enabling network sharing (This is what the people and I that tried and confirmed that it works and adds stability to the overall online experience in MK X use)
-The least optimal would be connecting it via wireless, i guess the only real advantage of this is that everyone can use this and it still lets you bypass the LSoD reliably, however I guess I don't really have to mention that the online experience will suffer
