EN vs EX

Hi. I'd like to hear players of MK9 calling the enhanced special attacks - ENHANCED SPECIAL ATTACKS or EN SPECIAL ATTACKS not EX. It's just a thing like calling Raiden "Ruyden" instead of "Reiden" and Sindel "Sin'del" instead of "Sindel' " (it's the accesnt on the second silable :) ). Let's give MK9 some originality. I'd like to hear this mostly from top players because they give the example to the rest of the mortals. Also learning the names of a least the special attacks would be appreciated.

EXtreme red kick across the screen! OH YEAH!

Yeah, I don't know how the EX thing caught on. Should be EN.

I understand calling for fun Shadow kick - Red kick or Electrifly (which is retarded in my opinion) - Superman/Headbutt (which is funnier). But EX has nothing to do with it, it's from other games. A while back, someone was laughing at UK players on stream that they were calling the X-ray as X-factor. I understand their confusion, but X-ray is waht it is.

Use whatever you want, preference. EX comes from Street Fighter by the way. It's used pretty much the exact same way in MK9 as in SF. So that's why people have called it EX since day one.

Most of us have been calling them EX moves for years.
Just because MK decided to get a different acronym out of the closest for the same thing, doesn't mean we have to switch.

I have spoken.

Most of you have been calling them EX moves for years in other games. MK didn't give an acronym, it gave a name.

You've been heard.

It doesn't really matter. It's far easier to say "use the EX superman" than to say "use the enhanced superman". Sure its only an EXtra syllable or two, but we as humans like to take the easy way out and will probably just stick with saying EX. The casters for some of these matches don't know what they hell they're talking about and shouldn't really be taken seriously. So he confused xray for xfactor, its an honest mistake that someone who doesn't play these games is likely to make.

When referring to specific moves (Iceball and spear, etc.) I usually refer to the enhanced version of the move as EX Iceball, or EX Spear. But when talking about the enhanced mechanic, I refer to them as a whole as "enhanced" moves (like, a lot of enhanced moves have armor, your enhanced moves usually cause better setups and or invulnerability).

EX specials actually originated from Darkstalkers.

"EX" is super common across the FGC for describing an enhanced special move/version of something or someone. And I seriously doubt people are going to stop using such a common term.

I always thought the EX referred to extreme. Because if I'm doing a cartwheel with Sonya but I can get easily knocked out of it, but if I do the EXTREME CARTWHEEL!!!!!!!! and you aren't blocking You're going to get run over. that's EXTREME!

I just say ex b/c of sf4. I think ex is easier to say than enhanced and people still understand what im talking about.

Oh and for the record ive been saying EX since i joined tym like release week of mk9 so maybe thts were this ex trend came from LOL

I had one of the streams on a long time ago (like last may) and was listening casually and thought I heard someone call them 'Enchanted' moves and thought it was so funny that I've been purposefully saying it wrong since then. So there you go, troll away with Enchanted, it makes them sound like world of warcraft spells or something lol.

I bet all of Rains moves are enchanted and fabulous. BTW I've played you before in ranked we usually have pretty close matches, always good times.

Yup, I recognized you right away. I can't wait to start playing again, I forced myself to take a break until my 'built from scratch' mk hitbox project is done.
