Let's talk: MKX on PC

It's just that playing the same person yields different results based off which platform I'm playing on.
Ah, that I have not been able to test with Mortal Kombat X.

However, I had the same thing happen as you in Mortal Kombat (2011). There, the Xbox 360 version was poor, but the PC version against the same person was silky smooth.

Performance is the best thus far, at least for me. I must say that I'm pleasantly surprised I haven't seen any bigger issues except for some minor frame drops since yesterday's patch.

I think mkx on pc have finally become a playable game which I could probably even recommend at last. There's still some minor glitches and some people still have bigger problems from what I read, but at least for me they finally fixed the game to the point of very decent playability.

Can't say on par with consoles or not since haven't played on either console at all, but like I said it looks decent at the moment. Probably still some patching room left however. I believe optimization could and should be further improved, same or even more important can be said for online.

Yeah, the game's great now. What frame skipping are you noticing?

I also haven't played the console versions, but from what I hear, the online is poor overall for the game regardless of platform. I don't expect much more to be done there at this point.

Regarding online I don't expect much neither. As you said this has become a standard for nrs games, so we'll have to just accept it probably. Sry I haven't used the correct term, I said frame skipping while in fact I meant frame drops. Meaning I still have minor frame drops in certain stages, I mean pretty much all of them. But those are only minor drops like occasional 2-3, maybe 4 fps below or above 60. Doesn't bother me too much though, but I still remember that I had solid 60 at all times in mk9. My pc is above recommended specs for mkx, so a problem should not be on my side. I have bigger drops way bellow 30 in menu, and I think this is a general issue, not a big deal again, but I'd still be happy to see a fix someday.

Yeah, I'm confident I'm getting those kind of drops too, but I'm not using anything to check. Basically, I'm playing the game with Fixed Vertical Sync now, and seeing how it feels and if I can perform my combos, and the answer is yes. That's good enough for me. Improvements would still be welcome, but I'm not bothered by it.

Mortal Kombat (2011) had frame drops on certain stages on consoles even, which is why some stages (Hell, for example) was banned from tourney play.

My controller just recently broke mid match the other night and I need to pick up a new one. I was wondering if anyone here plays on a DS3, I thought I had heard people having problems getting it to work and I just wanted to check before I went out and bought one.

The reason I want a ds3 over a ds4 is price and the fact I know I like it because I used it in mk9 and it felt great.

DS3s work fine on PC. You just need the Motioninjoy driver.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried an Xbox One Controller (Wired) with the game on PC? If so, how's it handle (mainly the D-Pad)?

Xbox pad wired was what I used before it broke on me. I main jax HW and have no prob doing all the RC combos and his mid screen bnb's. I dont think it is that bad but its not that great either. I dont like the trigger buttons and the r1 feels kinda cramped in relation to the face buttons.

To confirm, you were using an Xbox One pad or an Xbox 360 pad? Also, by R1, do you mean RB or RT?

Xbox360 wired pad and yeah I meant RB feeling kinda cramped so I ended up using RT for block which was my biggest gripe with the pad.
Ah, okay. Yeah, the Xbox 360's D-Pad is poor for fighting games, which is why I'm asking if people have used the Xbox One pad; different D-Pads.

RT was always Block by default for Mortal Kombat games on Xbox 360, and PC as well it seems. RB is Throw by default in Mortal Kombat (2011), and I swapped it to be the same in Mortal Kombat X.

Ah my bad I glanced over and thought you said xbox 360 pad.

Awesome man, thanks for the quick response.
I'd be cautious about using MotionInJoy. It's somewhat notorious for causing issues, whether acting as malware, overriding drivers, BSOD'ing computers, etc. I had been using it myself with Better DS3 (just uses the MotionInJoy driver without using the terrible interface) about a year without any issues aside from one BSOD when plugging in my DS3. I can't recall why, but I eventually switched to SCP Driver Package about a year and a half ago and haven't had any issues with that yet.

Ah very nice, thank you for the info and links. I had heard some people where having probs but I thought it was because they did not install motionjoy but I guess it may have been from motionjoy drivers itself. Is motionjoy required for DS4 if so does it cause the same problems as with the DS3?

I have no experience with using DS4 on PC, but from a brief google search, it doesn't seem like MotionInJoy works with DS4 at all. Though other options came up like DS4Tool, DS4Windows, and SCP Driver Package. Best to look into it yourself or get a reply from someone more knowledgeable, though.
