Air priority and a lack of proper AA normals

I am sorry that you cannot react to every jump in that you didn't bait like you could in MK9 by simply doing a jab, but that does not mean that you have no options to anti air. It simply isn't as free. Similar to IGAU.

There are some characters that are given tools (jump arcs, divekicks, exceptional jump attack hitboxes) to make them harder to anti air or riskier. This also does not mean that you have no options to anti air in this game.

AA's are indeed "a thing". I have been landing them and I see people landing them consistently at the arcade. I'm not sure what else to tell you.

People need to realise you always need to prepare yourself against jumpins pretty much at all times. This means that your spacing needs to help you either anti air, air to air or trip guard better. Spacing is not limited to the ground game.

You don't see Shinnok and Jax players complaining about this at the very least...Quan players as well.

Not true. My secondary is Jacqui. Play Shotgun or High Tech and enlighten us all about how you can AA consistently on the earliest of reads. We'll be more than happy to listen.

Game-wise, it's the first game I've actually ever seen where on a read I can still get punished for AA'ing with half of the cast. There's nothing to "figure out" in this situation. If I say "oh look at this jump happy fool" and uppercut or standing normal on a read, and get full combo punished anyways, then it's game mechanics, not player fault.

Yes, you switched your character to Tempest Lao. So basically your only logical solution is for everyone to switch to Lao so we can consistently EX Spin on reaction for AA's, since 95% of other AA's aren't reliable? Makes sense. Would be the best EVO ever.
I said I'm all for buffing specific characters AA if they really are getting destroyed by jump ins. And it sounds like Jacqui might be one of those characters (I don't know much about her so I'll take your and other's word for it). I still think your mentality that it is your God given right to AA is false. Just because AA is stronger in other games doesn't mean it needs to be.If your anti air is getting beat it's not the game's fault, it's your fault for not adapting to the game. JUST BLOCK. And I'm saying if jump ins really are that big of a problem for you, then finding a character with good AA could be a solution. However it is by no means a necessary thing to do in this game because jump ins are not this game breaking destroy all tactic like it is being presented. I pretty much always play characters with good anti air anyway and a lot of kung laos tools match what I want in a character so it was a worthwhile switch for me but I'm not saying it's ever everyone needs to do.

The problem is reading the jump in and spacing, and timing the d2 correctly but still getting completely blown up bu some characters--not just scorpion.

Also think risk reward. If someone uses a jip my d2 should annihilate them every time if times correctly because of the full combo possibility. Lately ive just been blocking instead of risking losing out in a trade.

The best way to anti air in MKX is to never put yourself into a position where you have to anti-air in the first place.

The way I'm seeing alot of top players handle this, is they NEVER sit around in inner-jump distance. They will sit outside jump distance, or in outer-jump distance where d4's nd spacing are a threat, and when they NEED to advance and get in, they will use run instead of walking forward to advance. Runs are generally quick enough that you are in there before the opponent can react with a jump in to start offense on you.

I have no problem AA, you guys seriously need to level. Stop trying to anti air like it's MK9, that game is dead and gone. Adjust to this new game, characters don't have the same jump arcs anymore, which mean you have to act accordingly.

Has anyone experimented with how high a JK on block on a character's hitbox makes it negative?

This is pretty important, because JK's absolutely blow up attempts to low profile would-be JP's with D4's.

It definitely needs it. Kano will indirectly become an insane AA monster if the priority is tweaked, he's already one of the better characters for AAing.

Similar to IGAU.
I think what made anti airing stronger in IGAU was that damage of the AA's was a threat.

If I had a successful d2 with Lex, even a highly scaled punish off d2 is going to net me 20+%

Comparatively, a d2 in MKX nets 14% clean hit, and 9% on trade. It's more important than you'd think. It's not so much that d2's lose frequently to jump ins, but the fact that they do MUCH less damage and so the risk/reward is skewed.

If I successfully d2 an opponent's jump in twice in Injustice, I've done more damage than they'd get from the d2 failing and getting combo'd. The risk was worth it.

In Mortal Kombat X, I need 3 to 4 d2's to win for every 1 d2 that loses.
