By the way anyone ever trade with Kotals aa post-patch? Just curious.
It doesn't trade, it just flat out gets beat the fuck out by anyone with a decent jump in attack. Such trickery by NRS, do they take us for fools!

Sun god is a character that can handle 90% of matchups now. That's all I care about. The only hard counter to him is GM SZ and that's not a problem for War god.

Shark, your air throw video is not ideal, it's almost never a good idea to jump from so far and JK so late. He still can't AA the jumps that matter. He would be top tier if his air throw was like Doomsday's.

Yeah but for realsies I'm curious if kotals trading is completely patched out, it either seems to win or lose cleanly now.

I think NRS made his 114 string easier to duck

I've had it whiff so much more often on the first two hits as of today than I've ever had it since launch and it's extremely frustrating for being his most + blockstring setup

I am point blank, but I've done this vs Sub Zero and Kano and point blank, there's a long period of time during breathing animations that both hits will flat out whiff

it's so dumb

I forgot this was the reason i hopped on here. The String definitely got tweaked, someone caught on mid match and was able to start ducking between 11 and jab his way out.

I don't think this is okay at all

He already lacks a reason to make you high block since he has no fast overhead attack, I don't think it needed to get tampered with

I'm talking about the very last attempt to show people what I meant, I was trying to force the trade, the first two were failed trials. I just didn't edit them out. Technically it would be marginally better since in previous situations where you trade you'd win cleanly. Although those situations are very rare and I'm not even sure if it's true atm.

Well that video was from Steam version, which was pre-hotfix. I don't know if it's still a thing now so I can't comment

EDIT, but I also think that's what was patched out this hotfix. I couldn't recreate on the ps4 post hotfix version, but I'm asking if someone else did, then we should whine to paulo and ask for upper body invincibility on the side

PC player here, can confirm that crouch-blocking sub-zero and kano (and other low-crouch characters) can inconsistently low profile 11 even point-blank. And it's still pre-6/1 hotfix, so it should still be relevant.

There's a lot of BS in this game, and Sun God is a VERY fair character. You're going to need some good Neutral game to get anywhere. His footsies are good but undeniably slow and predictable, D1, D3, and D4 are going to be your go to's when up close. He's not an In your face character despite having a command grab. He shines at mid range and can really manipulate space control. Being patient and picking your shots has yielded me the best results.

But get used to getting zoned out and rushed down. He really doesn't have anything at all to combat either situation aside from good blocking.

Thanks man, today was the first time I've seen anyone duck during that string. I still think it should fixed though(Assuming it wasn't done on purpose).

Being +10 on a command grab is huge. Before landing a level one or two just had no benefits to it. Now they have to spend meter to wake up verse it or get grabbed or combos. And this may open up his parry. Now spending my charges for health or meter is worth it. The damage boost is just icing on the cake.


Grand master seems even if you can stay out of the corner. About the same as it is for every character. But maybe I just play terrible subs for the most part.


For blood god there is almost 0 reasons to not have a damage reduction on the field. That 40% bnb I was scared of is now a sad 20%. If he had one armor move he would close if not top in the game. Once you get on him never let him go.

Agreed on getting zoned out, but getting rushed down the armored command grab says hi. People respected it before with me and now with 19%, landing this shit twice will equal a solid combo of 38%

Sun god is my fav variation since kotal was introduced and since the character was built around that concept.

I would agree with you if NRS knew how to properly design anything. As of right now his EX Command grab can make contact with the opponent but during certain moves and specials it fails to go into full animation, basically just a one bar whiff that didn't really whiff. If this was a rare occurrence or character specific I probably wouldn't mind. But this happens A LOT.
