I say Mileena mainly because her MK9 personality was ass.

I kinda hate Ermac's personality. He's so obsessed with how many souls he has.

Oh and Sub Zero gets an honorable mention because ninja tea party.

Definitely Liu Kang. In the older games he was just the cookie cutter hero / main character. Now he's an arrogant dick and it's amazing. #1 reason I'm even playing him.

What a day. What a lovely day.
I'm pretty torn between Mileena and Kitana, but I had to give the edge to Kit. Mileena's base personality is still the same as MK9, they've just matured it (in a fantastic way, I might add). Kitana, however, has gone from a determined princess to a fierce, scathing, regal empress dripping with finesse. It's fantastic, and gives the character an edge I feel has been missing and I'm in love with.

Living Corpse

Champion
Good guy (sort of) Scorpion. For so many years he's just been evil/neutral and would yell at others to get out of his way and kill anyone who gets in his way of revenge. Now the human Scorpion is still a vengeful being but less exaggerated, he will try to reason with you and even if that fails would rather wound you than kill you, he only wants to harm the one who wronged him.

He's still all about rage but after so many years they finally expanded on it, even showing him regret that he killed the first Sub-Zero and created Noob.

If anyone didn't pick johnny cage there might be something wrong with them. He went from grade A douce bag to the genuine nice guy. I think its very hard not to like him in this game.

Her voice acting was also the best in the game.
Welp, that's pretty damn debatable.

I like a lot of the voices in MKX, but I've never liked this VA for Mileena and I still don't. Sometimes she just sounds cringeworthy to me.

#1 Mileena: Never really liked her. But I absolutely love her in MKX. Hopefully she is going to be resurrected in the next MK. (Her Overall design and (german) VA are top notch as well.)

#2+3 Sub Zero & Scorpion: Because this
Subzero will be the most developed character for ever. This time, Scorpion joined him. Their interaction is godlike!! Best moment in MK Lore.
#4+5 Johnny Cage & Kano: They've become really entertaining/interesting. Especially Cage is waaaay more likeable this time around.

Of course it is, since this entire thread is based around subjective concepts :).

And that's the cool thing about the game, and the franchise: there's so many different things for different people to like, and things that can cater to all tastes. We don't all need to agree, since there's so much to enjoy.

It's Johnny, with a fair amount of ease. He was changed from an unlikeable person to someone who keeps elements of flair while having moments of humanity and vulnerability. Genuinely seemed to love his wife/daughter, and wore a top like he was ashamed of that fucking awful chest tattoo. Oh, and got his jaw broken on Jacqui's behalf too.

I liked Mileena and SZ, but I think people are slightly confusing design improvements and character expansions with improvements. SZ was shown becoming the grandmaster we knew he was in the previous timeline -- we are just shown more of it. Same for Mileena, with her playful, flirtatious mannerisms and bad taste in bedside partners -- all that is expanded on, with the only really novel element being her loyalty to Shao Kahn. Both were expanded on, but an improved personality requires some evolvement at least for me, so Johnny over them.

Scorpion evolved too. There seems to be a constantly expanding boundary on how much of a penis he can be in story mode with each new game.
Personally, I think people were way to hard on Johnny last game. Everyone keeps saying he was a douche, but that was clearly just a cover for his own insecurities, and he actually started maturing during the events of that game. He was always a good guy, but he was trying to hide it. He's matured even more now, but it wasn't surprising (to me at least) at all, since that already began last game.

For Mileena, last game she was just a slutty, crazy killer. She really had no personality. In this game, she did. Not only did she mature, but she was more calculating and even responsible, all of which was not hinted at last game.

My thoughts, anyway, and how I perceived the stories.

Scorpion has undoubtedly improved the most personality-wise, and anyone who reads the comics could understand.

He went from a linear "I'll have my vengeance" revenant to an epic-as-fuck protector of Earthrealm. You never really got a chance to see that in the MKX story.

We still get to see him putting people in his own shoes for his impatience. But hey, there should be a callback to his past persona (Scorpion wasn't made out of nothing, right?) and then again, who said characters should be faultless?

Mileena, then they killed her off. :(
They put some work into that though. Surprising decency on her part for a scene so fucked up. D'Vorah takes the cake there though even though she doesn't say a word. Her body language says it all instead.

OT: I don't really know what to say. Judging by story mode is one thing, but there's also random pre-fight banter and there's a lot in there.

"Are you looking for challenge?"
"I do, but you will suffice".

Yeah, it was pretty civil of Mileena accepting her death rather than biting D'Vorah's fucking face off :( MK9 Mileena would've been raging in that scene.

I loved it, personally, as I described above.

I also got to thinking a good bit about Mileena and Kotal last night, and how much of a poorer ruler I feel Kotal is.
You should elaborate, sounds interesting. @Pterodactyl pointed out earlier in the thread that we don't know 100% that Mileena was a poor ruler, since we don't know what the people thought of her.
