Input Shortcut requires different precision when canceling and not canceling.

Basically, if you input a motion ALMOST all the way, plus the attack button, the move will come out.
(down,diagonal, 1) instead of (down,diagonal,back, 1)

If you input a motion completely, but in a rush the attack button is pressed slightly before the last directional motion, the move will come out.
(down,diagonal, 1, back)

But if you are cancelling a string into a special, you are required to input the full motion cleanly and in right sequence, or it will not come out. Occasionally it will, but usually not.

same with jax's overhead dash punch. Alone, b,db,d,df will make overhead dash punch come out, but if you do it in a string, it will not come out

yeah, if its turned off, you have to be exact in everything you do. Pain in the ass for instant air fireballs.
I don't think it's quite that simple. For example, on standard controls, the d,f motion with input shortcuts off still accepts df,f, but no longer accepts d,df.

EDIT: Similar situation for for the d,b,f input. db,b,f is acceptable, but d,db,f is not.

EDIT 2: My mistake, both are acceptable. Also, for b,f input, db,f is acceptable, but b,df is not, so it seems the general rule is that input shortcuts on allows you to end your special move with a diagonal input, but using diagonal inputs as a substitute for a cardinal direction that is not the last one in the motion is always enabled unless you are cancelling from a normal.

Falls down too much
I would just test it myself, but I'm at work. Does input shortcuts work on wakeup, or like canceling strings into specials do you have to be precise?

I've had shortcuts off since my first 5 minutes with the game, and haven't really missed it.

I don't like turning the shortcuts off because I fuck up my air skulls in tense moments.
