What's new

I hope NRS resolves all these subplots they've accumulated

so many unanswered questions

- What's going to happen to Ermac? What about King Jerrod/Shao Kahn? Surely they'd be at odds for each other considering they're bitter enemies sharing the same body.

- Reptile's desire to bring his people back has gone nowhere since it was made back in the 90s. Seriously, this guy has probably been through enough to make a sick MK Mythologies spinoff, he needs his time to shine for a change.

- The story mode cliffhanger (NRS really fuckin' loves these) is obvious

- Where's Skarlet? Did she go rogue?

- What are the other revenants doing? Will they also make a return?

- What happened to Rain after Mileena was executed?

- Where's Fujin and why did he disappear when Earthrealm needed him most?

- We still don't know anything about Ferra/Torr or most of the new characters. Why weren't they expanded on at all in the story?

- Why is every NRS bad guy such a massive jobber?

there's a growing list of things that could evolve into their own stories but NRS seems to have neglected them entirely. It's such a shame that a story with potential for actual depth is being ignored this much.

I agree with you, especially on the Fujin and Rain part. My guess is that they are (hopefully) being saved for a big role in MK11. The story honestly gave more questions than answers. Reptile really deserves his moment though, he's badass but they make him ugly af and make him bothing but a grunt.

Comics will help fill in the gaps of the new characters. Ferra /Torr are even getting their own chapter. We should also see what happens to the revenants not shown in the story. Maybe the were killed during the Invasion.

Watch Reptile's arcade ending. It's probably the best you will get.

Y'all are expecting too much from a fighting game story, but NRS seriously needs to hire some top caliber writers because there is more plot holes in this story-line than Swiss cheese.

I don't like that they put characters in the story for like 5 minutes and then they disappear and are never mentioned again

Like what the fuck, doesn't Rain have his own crazy plan to take over Outworld? Where did he go? Why wasn't he executed alongside Mileena? He and Tanya were five feet away from Mileena when she was defeated and yet nobody thought to bring them in?

JADE WASN'T EVEN MENTIONED AT ALL.

Like wtf how did everyone else who died come back and not her.
And also Kitana had like 45 seconds of total screen time. Sindel had more. And why did Kitana become an MKX character? Doesn't make ANY sense according to the story.

lol
I have no clue why people who are still revenants are even in the game

What's the point of "what if these guys never died" but then you don't include anybody else because.. THEY'RE DEAD

I'm wondering how the concept of death works in the MK universe.

So the way of bring people back from the dead is beating the crap out of Quan Chi? And that only makes the people nearest come back from the dead? Nobody was revived while Scorpion was beating on Quan Chi? Speaking of Quan Chi, when he died did he go to the Netherrealm and become a Revenant?

Apparently coming back from the dead has no real repercussions as Jax was able to have a daughter afterwards...for some reason. I would think that would affect "things".

How is it that Jade did not come back when other characters like Kitanna did? I don't really understand what was so different with her death compared to other characters.

What about Mileena and Baraka? Does it only apply if the individual dies at Earthrealm?

How did Scorpion and his clan INSTANTLY know that Quan Chi was captured and where he is. Like seriously, he wasted absolutely no time getting there after Quan Chi was captured. I found that a bit unbelievable since it was pretty much there for the sake of inconvenience considering what happened next.

Cassie stopped D'Vorah from killing them and then they disappeared to never be heard from again til the next MK, or a DLC release at some point.

That doesn't really make their lack of substance in the game okay, though. They contributed absolutely nothing to the story along with Erron Black aside from being some punching bags for the good guys

I would think that they have to be picked by Quan Chi personally. That, or he doesn't have access to all souls. In MK9, it was stated that the souls of the dead Earthrealm warriors were given to Quan Chi as an act of alliance, but that really doesn't explain where souls actually end up and how you get them.

I'd pay money outside of the Kombat pack I bought for DLC story that addresses huge plot holes.

Also, characters like Kung Lao, Kitana etc shouldn't really be playable. Like, they didn't contribute to this story well at all. However I'm hoping that these holes aren't actually holes but rather set-ups for the next MK in the series - which they're probably beginning either now or soon.

Just because a character contributes nothing to the story mode doesn't mean that they shouldn't be playable. You especially can't bring up that argument since Goro is in this game. Hell, Erron and F/T didn't do shit neither, and don't even get me started on Reptile and Ermac..

The cliffhangers really leave you hanging by the balls. For some reason, i get the feeling most stuff won't be explained because is NRS.
NRS loves to add things into the lore and such, but somewhere along the road, they just kinda drop it in a way (Leaving you in a cliffhanger saying da fuq?) you just wish they never even did it. One of the things i don't like and won't like is how Mk X ended. Liu Kang and Kitana as rulers of the Netherrealm?
Don't see them as a fitting pair to do that. Plus, Raiden has gone evil? Whoa, what da fuq?
I am like, shit has gone to hell now! Way to go Raiden, you F*cked us all.

Well, since they showed them young 25 years prior, that might age them a little bit? And they were revenents as well? But to be honest, this story still didn't make any damn sense, even though NRS tried, and I do give them credit for trying to recreate the universe after MK9. It still feels incomplete.

1) Probably serving Liu Kang and Kitana.

2)Because they are antagonist and that's what they do, lose to the protagonist.

the after credits scene is really rushed, I know it's to give a glimpse of the next MK but man it sure feel rushed.
I hate the good plots that ended up being a narration, such as the Lin Kuei takeover by Sub Zero, and how he battles Sektor.

And Kotal Kahn, talk about great character being wasted, the current Emperor of Outworld being beaten by a rookie Shaolin Monks named Kung Jin, wth?

We need to know more about the new characters damnit, it's not enough characters development there.

Shinnok seems awesome on paper, but within the story mode it's just not as big of a threat as Shao Kahn.
