What's new

Game Crisis

Hey guys today my MK disc broke. Here's the problem. I have $40, so I can but another copy, but I also want Gears of War 3. This is huge for me I have no clue which to buy. I like MK but i hate the fact that I can't play during the weekdays and I have to practically relearn how to play every weekend. On the other hand, Gears is easy to pick up and I tried it at a friends and loved it. Should I just rent Gears and buy MK or vice versa? Such a tough decision..

Subscribe to Gamefly and sign up for the 2 game plan and get both. Then when you get more money you can buy the games. But it depends if you have a reliable gamefly service near you; i live near L.A. so i can get most games within a day or two, if they're available. Mk shouldn't be out of stock atm, don't know about gears 3.

Buy MK9 used from Gamestop. Return it almost immediately with the cracked disc. Now that you have an uncracked disc, you got your MK9 back. The next day, return it and tell them you dont like it, and apply all your credit to G3ARS.

Two men enter, one man leaves!
Tim's a genius!

I recently bought Gears and i'm torn between the two, mainly because i am terrible at Gears but it is soooo fun! I am putting in many hours to improve But im also enjoying the new patch on MK trying to learn new setups post patch and picking up the rest of the cast i shunned because of how boring and unplayable i thought they were at the time. (Sindel, Stryker and Jade)

EX Ovi should launch
You should buy a Brand new unopened copy of MK9, and swap the disks over and return it while screaming shenanigans upon the place of purchase.
Once an angry mob forms behind you sporting torches and pitchforks you should demand a refund, with which you should purchase gears of war 3.
Oh and don't forget to sell your online code on the black market!

I'd go with MK but that's because I'm biased and don't like Gears.

I mean really, the second installment of Gears was so boring, the story is mediocre, none of the characters give off an emotional attachment to the player, etc etc. Even the gameplay is pretty... Well, run and gun which bores me as well. I honestly never understood the hype for the game, ever. From an artistic and storytelling standpoint the game is terrible also.

I'm a minority though obviously when you look at America loving their mediocre shooters. Regardless, get what you like. MK all the way though for me.

Edit: You guys can flame me if you like, I received the same flack for criticizing Halo and most of all, that ridiculously overhyped, unbalanced garbage called Call of Duty.

i will fully respect an opinion, however i will 100% disagree at the emotional attachment part, play gears 3, there are forums all over epic's website about"people who hardly cry at movies crying at one specific part in the campaign"

Eh Korpse I can't speak for Gears 3 because I haven't played it and I'm willing to believe it, but all I can go off of at this point is from Gears 1 and 2. Seriously, the only interesting character up to that point was Coletrain and that was only because he was funny.

i had the exact same feeling on the first 2 of the gears games. the gears trilogy was nothing but a build up,i played the first 2 campaigns and was like meh, and i was really picking up gears 3 to play with my mates online and i didn't expect much from it, and because i went in with that mentality i was wowed, it is a well deserved GOTY contender, and also, Cole and Baird were the best in Gears 1+2

Honestly, the only redeeming quality of Gears is online, it's just a fun game online. The story itself though, meh. I admittedly do miss playing the games, hip shotgun rolls with Coletrain were my favorite. Good way to piss people off!

I bought MK, my stepbrother has gears so I can play it there whenever I go. It's fun, but I got bored of it after act 1 lol. I realized that and went ahead and bought MK. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone and Tim I loved your idea but I decided to support the system instead of cheat it today haha.

Haha I meant by supporting NRS by buying another copy, but I bought it from gamestop lol and damn don't tell me that I was planning on working there next summer haha.

Gamestop was my first job and I worked there for almost 5 years. But lemme tell you it wasn't for the company itself, rather, the cool people I got to work with. I was fortunate to work with a kickass group of people, and we had a lot of fun together. Gamestop itself, however, is an asshole to work for. You'd think that a company specializing in video games would be cool, but they're the typical corporate assholes you'd expect them to be. There's a reason why Gamestop employees pitch reservations and game subscriptions like their lives depended on it.

Don't forget the magazine subscriptions, because you know, so many people don't have access to the internet! I was fortunate enough to only work there seasonally years ago, but my god, constant hounding by the manager regarding those damn magazine subscriptions. Nobody wants 'em!

I had actually tried re-applying there upon moving, and the store manager actually used the Carlos Mencia "dee dee dee" shit in the midst of an interview. I promptly decided that I did not want to work at that location! An overweight, 40 something man, who I would presume lives with his mother and enjoys Carlos Mencia is not someone I wanted to work under.

Asshole by nature
I hate gamestop, hate their harrasing when you buy a game, how long they take when there's a line, i dunno i just don't like em!

But the gaming industry is kinda failing so i kinda understand why they nag.

Get gears, best in the series and the best shooter up to date. Till Battlefield arrives at least. MK is always gonna be there, but with gears people stop playing it hardcore after the the 4th month or so!

I sold those mags like crack in the hood.

My approach to customers was more like you arent paying for the mag, your paying for the discount now which you earn back in at least a couple more visits. etc etc. I just wanted people to save money lol.

and reserving the games you knew you were gonna get....was like putting them on layaway. come in and pay a couple bucks here and there, and by the time the game comes out. A) you actually have a copy spoken for B) most if not all is payed off C) you were entitiled to whatever free shit came with it.

Seemed awesome from the customer side, but the other side......well..........fuck em.
