Hey everyone,

We here at ESL America are very excited for the upcoming FATAL 8 tournament this weekend, along with the entire ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League.

I have been working on this project since it's inception about 7 months ago. Feel free to ask any question. I will answer most of them to the best of my ability.
Thank you for giving the NRS community a chance. Coming from someone who has been exposed to ESL through Starcraft, Dota 2, and CS, it's good to see you guys expand your good graces to this community. I hope that the partnership continues past July and that you guys can support the game for a while. I look forward to watching the tournament on Saturday and competing every week there is a cup. I have faith in ESL to make everything accommodating for future events.

Well as i am obviously the only person that cares about this issue, i won't comment any further. Sorry for ruining your thread.
No, you aren't. But Microsoft and Turtle Entertainment/ESL are partners, so the answer is already known.

I'm certainly interested in whether ESL is entertaining the idea of expanding to PS4 in the future, given its limited partnership with Sony Mobile. Maybe he can answer that?

@Clutch8 in regards to the ESL MKX Pro League, is there any possibility of it coming to PS4 in the future? Also, is it possible for more than one person to sign up for the same online tournament using the same console, i.e. siblings?
I would not recommend signing up using the same console. What if you meet each other in the bracket? One of you will have to forfeit.

I cannot comment on what will happen past July regarding the inclusion of other platforms.

Understandable.

Just for the record though, if it is possible, please consider it for our community. Like I mentioned before, our tournament standard is PS4 and many converters for controllers aren't currently tournament viable due to input delay.

PS4 has the ability to use PS3 fightsticks too. In general many have spent a good sum of money on sticks, controllers, and PS4s once the tournament standard was set.

The PS4 is a much more sold system worldwide aswell. MkX is looking like it'll expand competitively worldwide and in many Asian countries Xbox1s are just not relevant for fighters. Many big name fighting games have been scheduled for PS4's future which also led to the tournament standard decision.

Again, we do understand ESL's partnership with Xbox, but I hope this is something you'll take into consideration for the future.

If we meet each other in the bracket, can't we just play the set offline and report the scores?
What if you had to play against your brother in the tournament?
Play offline and report the scores....

Well, the PS4 for EVO is just a "quality of the console issue" ,but now it´s just a "money issue".... I think it´s ALL about the money

Regarding platform choice,

In order to unify our ONLINE players and audience for the first season of a brand new league it was decided we would choose one console platform for NA/EU.

ESL, Warner Bros., and NetherRealm spent a great deal of time researching and deliberating what would be best for an ONLINE league, culminating in a live finals. After months of meetings it was decided to go with the Xbox One for NA/EU for a variety of reasons, including:
The track record of support from Xbox for competitive leagues.
The robust performance of Xbox Live.
The ESL App on the Xbox One.

Was it an easy decision to make? No. The casualty of the console war is a split audience and player base. We knew that any selection we made wouldn't please everyone.

Do I feel we made the best choice for an ONLINE league. Yes.

In regards to questions about 'Will we have PS4 and PC (outside of CIS/Russia) as options in the future?' Let's make it through Season 1 first.

The Sub-Zero Blue Steel Skin will be available across all platforms. Those purchases support the entire Mortal Kombat X Competitive Scene, no matter the platform ;)
