Roster question

roster is amazing .... fact is ... some people are not open-mind to the new, and want each game to have "more of the same" ..... the classic character that did not made into MKX, will be in future games .... the DLC for MKX is pretty good (Jason and Predator fit the violent & gore MK style and Tanya is always welcome and Tremor is a fan-base dream coming true). more important than the roster, are the gameplay mechanic and all improved stuff that make this game way better than MK9 and the competitive aspect will be superior than any other 2D fighting game current in 2015.

Roster looks superb actually and this is coming from someone who wanted more MK4 characters playable and someone whose favorites (Stryker and Jade) are not in the game. The roster is MK1/MK2 plus MK4 and the next generation, couldn't ask for a better compromise.

A roster isn't good or bad because it lacks certain characters people wanted and no roster will be perfect or please everyone. It's strange how often people ask for more new characters, yet people often times never embrace them or even give them a chance.

Right, cause Fujin, Smoke, Sareena, Nightwolf, Cyrax, Baraka, and Sektor are truly iconic, but Sonya, Jax and Johnny Cage are not. You don't have to like them but lol come on....

2/3 were in the first mk game ever... but naaaah, not iconic enough to be in over fujin!

And some of those other characters may be in via dlc... never know.

I was worried when they said they were putting shitloads of new characters in, but this batch of newcomers is better than we've had in any post-trilogy game...in my opinion of course.

However, waaaay too many special forces folk in here. Did we really need Jax and Jaquie? We don't know how story plays out yet, so who knows.
The idea of next generation characters is great. I like the concept of Takeda. Cage and Sonya having a kid is ok I guess, but after that I would have preferred to see something like Sub and Sareena have a kid, or Baraka and Mileena, or even Goro and Sheeva. Why they all gotta be special forces??

Why do people consistently whine about a game that they know they're going to play even if their favorite characters are in it or not?

You guys should be fucking excited we're getting a new MK game, especially with all the features we're getting for it. This game looks to be a huge step up from 9 and IGAU. You guys who do cry should do a little less of that and have a more positive outlook. It's a new Mortal Kombat, HAVE FUN.

For those sad that there's so many special forces people in it, besides Stryker (ADD STRYKER!!) they really don't have any other characters to add as DLC that would fit that group, so all of the DLC is going to be robots, ninjas and fan favs.

Of course there are characters I wish were there that aren't, but you know, the whole point of this game is that it's supposed to be a dramatic departure from the previous Mortal Kombat, and naturally that means that some characters just aren't going to make it back.

And frankly, seeing all the gameplay footage has got me so hyped that I mostly haven't stopped to care about the 'quality' of the roster.

I don't mind the roster. It's got a handful of my favorites, and I'm interested in trying a couple of the new characters like Kotal and Ferra/Torr.

Really, really pissed Smoke was not included though, he was my main in MK9 -_- And I'm also surprised Sektor and/or Cyrax didn't make it in the game.

I think honestly they are just going for innovation and taking advantage of the new level of detail and quality they can put in the game now, especially with the hardware of the current generation of consoles. NRS has done fantastic with IGAU and MK9, so I assume they will do just as well on this.

Everyone has their favorite/main character. When you've grown up with this game, you get a little attached to some of the characters, and yes sometimes it's disappointing to find your favorite(s) missing from the roster, especially for such a hyped game.

Like I said personally though, I can always adapt, and there are plenty of the classic characters on here that I'm sure will be top-tier.

I personally would have liked to see about 4 or 5 characters that didn't make it, but personal preference aside, my main complaint is that the roster objectively doesn't make sense within the context of the game and some of it's features.

That said, there is still room for DLC, so I'm still hopeful for a Lin Kuei pack. Right now its like having a denomination called "mario brothers" and then having no mario characters.

The roster is simply perfect to me personally, but maybe that's just because I'm not the biggest fan of fighting robots or ninjas.

Aesthetically both Smoke and Noob were really cool characters to me, but not having them in the game isn't the end of the world for me. I think the family element is pretty cool and allows for easier and more believable story drama.

Look at the available factions. Then look at the characters in the game. It appears as though my complaint isn't exclusive to Lin Kuei only having one playable character though, since other factions have a very limited number of playable characters as well.

Apparently the faction denominations aren't an indication of who you should be able to use, so I suppose my complaint isnt objective either.

I mean I think we all agree the Teen Titans has become a bit over the top, and for story and roster diversity reasons I am sure the following would've made people happier.

-Kung Jin (story seems odd considering Lao is the last of his people)
-Jax OR Jacqui (One is fine but did we need both?)
-Sonya OR Johnny (With Cassie we don't need the whole family in this and maybe make the non playable one have a cameo)

Now with these three slots from the opinions I have gathered it appears the most widely requested would be
+Fujin
+Smoke
+Rain

however
+Noob
+Havik
+Reiko (though im sure there is some story plot device with him)
+Cyrax or Sektor
Any combination of 3 of these characters would have made a more diverse roster and I feel made everyone happier. But as we all know there is no way to make EVERYONE happy. Plus for all we know there will be a second kombat pack and lets hope they don't waste slots on guests so we can get 4 mk returnees

I've been a fan of MK since MK1 and I've played everyone of them, being my parents bought them or I bought them, and one thing I cant say is that I didnt enjoy them! No matter the roster MKX will be damn enjoyable and now that Im older to understand and gameplay is way more than just button mashing I will have plenty og gameplay with it and enjoy it.. The roster of the game matters but the game isnt called "Smoke" or "Rain" it's MKX, meaning the gameplay + characters = what matters!

I wanted more people in the game as well, like Fujiin, Jarek, Kai, so on and so on, just to see more of the old faces we havent seen in a while and I loved MK4.. but hey like Rich Homie & Fab say.. We Good!!!!
