Who’s Next? Mortal Kombat X Worldwide Competitive Program - Fatal 8 Teaser Trailer

I don't actually play these games
ESL doesn't have all the weight but they damn sure have the majority right now. I just don't understand why people would not want to back the league backed by the developer.
Evo is the biggest fg event so majority is a questionable statement(majority of who?). We don't know how big it will be. I hope it'll get another season.
If NRS's support is only to support one online league for a specific system for a console that isn't even the best selling right now it's a bad imo. I mean I'm sure people would like to support the developer but it's kinda hard to spend another $500 dollars to do it for an online tournament if you already upgraded, rather than simply buying another controller for an event where console are provided. I'd also like to add that grassroots events have more games running than MKX and some of those games are PS4 exclusive(Xrd on ps3 too not sure which version, and soon SF5) and TO's have to take that into consideration.

You're talking to a TO, I'm well aware of the costs assosciated between migrating platforms. In a perfect world we'd all be switching to PC (something I still research because it eliminates the whole stick argument but I'm sure people will find something else). Also EVO is the biggest Street Fighter event, it will always boggled my mind how people keep trying to validate their game at an event that is geared towards Street Fighter players

It's geared towards FG players in general, SF being a tradition there is because of it's large playerbase. Just like now two smashes are their because of theirs. Regardless of it's most popular game it's still a prestigious tournament for anybody to win their game at.

All of this ^. I've been preaching this for awhile now. This is the first time(I'm aware of)that NRS has completely backed something to the point they want their community to participate and are willing to stream the tournament themselves. Sure, they have added to pot bonuses in the past, but it's not the same thing at all. They may never back grass roots tournaments the way we hope because so many things can go wrong, whereas ESL is a top tier organization. @CrimsonShadow gave a pretty solid post to why that hasn't happened and it's flat out true.

A lot of people are complaining about it being on XB1, but they fail to realize MS backs ESL. Of course this is the way it is.

How much of the 1,000$ prize money do you think goes to the winner of the weekly? Because, even if they just win half of them, someone could win a couple thousand dollars by the end of the season from weeklys alone. And, if I am correct, they are free to enter and online only. Which means that there is no risk from participating because one does not have to pay travel or entrance fees.

This might be just the push I need to start playing competitively. See you guys in April.:16Bit

I'm not sure how the $1k is broken up, but the top 16 finals is where you want to be. $50k in cash prizes....I mean come on. lol.

So again we have a heavy investment into the MK community from ESL&NRS with their 1k weeklies to qualify for a 50k grand finals and thats for a season one thats not counting the dlc going towards prize pools ala Dota. So why are some people trying to steer the community away from their console choice? The joystick compatibility seems limited to pdp joysticks/ps360+ pcb so its not universal across the board and EVO isn't a MK focused event, no matter how you spin it about them adding other FGs they are Street Fighter centric. IMO the community should invest itself into the joint venture by ESL&NRS and standardize the console across the board to mimic theirs

Here's the problem with that, none of these E-Sports venture have ever lasted a year+ & I really doubt this one will either.

Probably because the community never gets behind them, makes me curious what the MLG attendance numbers were (but MLG as an organization is something separate)or for the PDP event.

That's entirely the communities fault and is something we can change now. I think this has the opportunity to be more successful than MLG because this is heavily based online. NRS will probably start mentioning it on streams soon and that will help boost numbers for sure.

Well I am doing my part. I just signed up for all of the preseason cups and the first two cups of the regular season. When I get the game, I am not sure I will be able to stop playing lol.

I'm just borrowing my friend's xbone for the purposes of season 1, and ordered myself that Titan One converter so I don't need to use the XB1 controller or buy a new controller. Trying to reduce the monetary investment in participating in an online tournament :) Since we still don't know how the online is going to be...

From reliable source i heard that there will be a big event (Finals) going in one of the Polish cities (Europe) - Katowice, the heart of ESL.

I will have a lot to catch up in june. Lets see how this turns out...will update once I know more.
