The last official update of the boots picture from Ed Boon ends any discussion about who the character is behind the third boot: Liu Kang.

With this we now have two boots left. I personally think it's Kenshi and Jax. But my question is not to do with who is behind the boots but rather what connects them. Were these six boots picked for a specific reason? What do they have in common? What ties them together? Or are they even connected at all?

Quan? Kenshi? Liu? Kitana? Jax? Kung Jin? I would've said Quan and his revenants but Kung Jin wasn't/isn't one. There's nothing that pops out at me...what do you think?

Boot 2 is not a jacket/cape. It's the background to a stage. They've proven it in the original boot thread.

Kung Lao isn't Liu Kang.


That said, again, I'm just basing this off of the trend so far, I don't know what the story or fully revealed character select looks like, I just know what I see.

They've stated that they've already shown alternates (or at least one) when early on there was a question about whether there were alternates. So primaries you see in the Kombat Kast etc. are not necessarily the final primaries.
