I agree with you that at the moment there isn't much to miss out on if you have a Xbox One only, but at this rate I fear that due to Microsofts bungling of crucial business decisions all of the great exclusive games will be on PS4. When I had an Xbox 360 I didn't feel this way, and although I missed out on Metal Gear Solid 4 I still didn't feel the regret I do now. I have Titanfall & Killer Instinct and both are great but 2 games aren't going to save the console in the long run.
As far as the whole 720p vs 1080p thing, here's my take on it. In a lot of ways its just a formality, because unless you have a very big TV most people won't ever notice the difference. I've never once looked at a PS4 port of the same Xbox One port and said man the PS4 version looks significantly better. However, from a principle standpoint the Xbox One, at least when I purchased it, went for $100 more than the PS4. At the very least both systems have to perform comparably, but because the Xbox One cost more at the time it should have performed marginally better. Theoretical assumptions I know, and there are hundreds of different things from a technical standpoint that factor into performance but come on man....for $500 in 2013 there was no excuse for the console to not be able to reach 1080p, absolutely none.
Why should I pay $500 when your competitor offers a system for $100 less that performs better and doesn't have the limitations of your system? Oh that's right because you have "better games". Well I used to believe that but I'm starting to think that Microsoft is going to lose out on some great games because of the way they've been conducting their business dealings lately. I don't mean to turn this thread into a Microsoft flaming board but this latest thing with last gen fight stick support is like almost the final straw with me. If Microsoft said they're going to support last gen Rock Band peripherals they should support last gen fight sticks as well.
