By this logic I could go like Sindel was always a waste because Kitana's mum, Sektor was a waste because cyborg like Cyrax...

They are both in and they will play different. Same as Jax/Jacqui. And I think the roster is a great.

From what I've learned today about the origins of the leaks... You can choose to believe me or not, and remember I don't actually know any of this for certain either, but it's what I've concluded based on the information I was given. So don't be upset if I'm wrong, or take this too seriously.

The characters in this roster will very likely all be playable, but this roster has a chance of being a bit outdated. Newer things suggest there might be at least one other character playable. This also does not mean JamesMK is a reliable dude, the roster was correct, but the origins likely had nothing to do with him. And things he says about story and other things may not be accurate. (Although im unsure if story information was in any of the leaks)

In my opinion Cassie has waaaaaaay more from Johnny - nutcracker in Hollywood and X-Ray, Shadow Kick as her normal move, she goes green during some specials and normals, overal attitude.

If Johnny is in he will be entirely different from the one in MK9.
