MKX Comic Plot Discussion & Speculation Thread

Oh my god... are you actually still insinuating that Kano was somehow standing where Jarek and Tasia were? There is no proof that Kano was there. Just because Erron is working with him does not mean Kano was there.

That is a huge assumption and unproven as of yet. I refuse to even discuss this further until Shawn answers the questions we have.
I'm saying Kano was saying that from the other side. Since you seem to insist Erron was on the other side, I'm just as able to say Kano was in that place instead.

Of course there is proof: His dialogue. Find me another character who talks like that and is involved with the situation. Here, I'll wait.

MK9 was a retelling of MK1-3, they just changed it so that Raiden received a message from future Raiden.

Exactly, so Raiden is an idiot and because he changed what happened a lot of people needlessly died :p

No, if Raiden hadn't been there Kahn would've merged the realms. I've said this three times now. Kahn couldn't merge the realms in MK9 because Earthrealm was under Raiden's protection, therefore without Raiden's protection Kahn would've merged Outworld with it.

Wait but why would he wanna do that? He knows that the Elder Gods won't just allow that, right? Also, what exactly does Raiden have to with him not being able to merge the realms? Serious question. If Raiden's not there fight him, others will.

SIRO FOR MK1
Haha they are definitely foreshadowing the fact that Jacqui will get a robot leg. Jesus Christ, NRS just couldn't resist could they.
If this really happens lol NRS everybody said this before more as a joke. Whats next? Is Jax wife gonna get a robo head?

Well at least i can see her getting Kabals speed if she is in the game and really gonna lose her legs.

Sorry, sorry.

Although I didn't actually give anything away.
I read the summary on the last page, but like... I still wanna take it fresh.
I can imagine one of her fatalities is using her robo leg to punt someone so hard in the crotch that everything in their body goes a mile north.

I no longer have any clue whats being discussed in this thread but Shao Kahn is only "allowed" to merge the realms by winning 10 mk tournaments. Every other realm he conquered and merged into outworld he did via Kombat. Doing it by force is illegal, which is why he was punished at the end of MK9 for using the Sindel exploit. In the original timeline this didn't come to pass because Liu Kang kicked him in the face and sent him packing but its presumed that if Shao had succeeded in MK3, the same would have happened.

That said, there is no way to know if Armageddon would happen in the new timeline. Armageddon was a safety net for the realms getting completely out of control, it was hinged on the gathering of the Kamidogu, the rebirth of the Dragon King, the awakening of the twins (which we know at least one is awake), the summoning of the pyramid and god knows how many other factors that can't happen the same way now.

That means it actually doesn't have anything to do with Raiden himself though, which is what I thought. So it's not like if Raiden wasn't there he could have just invaded Earthrealm because... reasons. He has to win the MK tournaments.

MKX Print issue #3 - Blood Ties Part 3, Chapter 9: Synopsis

So we flip to 2/3 of the way through the issue; there's no break between Sonya pointing her gun at Kotal at the end of the last digital chapter and what happens next:

SPOILERS:
Summary page cast (Some new faces and descriptions):

Kotal Kahn: Emperor or Outworld. Osh-Tekk Warrior.

Goro: Prince of the Shokan Empire.

Reiko: Commander of Mileena's Forces.

Mavado: Leader of the Red Dragon in Outworld.

Reptile: Kotal Kahn's Minister of Spies.

Mileena: Deposed Empress of Outworld.

Rain: Mileena loyalist able to control water.

D'Vorah: First Minister to Kotal Kahn.

Erron Black: A mysterious mercenary living in Outworld.

Ferra & Torr: A little lady and a big bruiser.

Chapter 9 begins:

Sonya threatens Kotal with a bullet between the eyes unless he reveals the whereabouts of Cassie. Reptile takes exception to Sonya's insults and false accusations, and flicks out his tongue in attack, only for it to be caught by the hooded man next to her - Johnny Cage (the rest of the hooded figures are revealed to be the previously seen other members of the Special Forces group) .

Cage defuses the situation offering medical supplies, but D'Vorah slaps a couple of grubs on Kotal, which eat the bullet and secrete coagulant oils (which Johnny finds a little gross. After thanking D'Vorah, Kotal states that he'll only speak with Cage, who he addresses as Raiden's champion, (drawing ire from Sonya at Cage's smug agreement). Cage shows Kotal the cellphone with Cassie's photo of Erron Black; Kotal understands the association; Erron Black is an intermediary between the Black Dragon and Kotal, and is the only person Kotal deals with. Kotal states that as a proud son who's recently suffered a loss, he would never hire Kano to steal children. D'Vorah points out that Kotal's troupe were all frustrated by their prior reception by Sonya in Earthrealm, and muses that Erron could have acted on that.

A short distance away, Mavado watches the conversation through binoculars and orders his men to stand down; they have a new objective.

Kotal reveals that Erron is securing their norther trade route and assigns D'Vorah and Reptile to escort them; Sonya stipulates that Outworld's problems belong to Outworld.

We switch scenes to a forest where Black Dragon grunts (decked out in some awesome black armor depicting their insignia on their chests) are leading Cassie and Jacqui onward. Cassie fakes a fall and struggles to break free, but she takes a laser shot to the chest which knocks her and Jacqui against a tree.

The shot comes from Kano, who advises them to never pick a battle they can't finish, and tells them the next escape attempt will cost someone a leg.
Erron Black promptly advises Kano against this as the prisoners are worth more to them intact. He warns against eye beams, calling Kano's equipment a piece of junk liable to blast a hole through someone. This prompts Kano to refer to it as a new eye; we flash back to the fight for the Kamidogu:

Years ago, Sub-Zero knocks Kano back against a pillar and breaks free from his hold; Kano stabs him in the shoulder for his trouble. He tells Sub-Zero the dagger possesses whomever it cuts; the curse can be broken by killing the possessed. Sub-Zero states that he's "already been dead once - never again!" With this, he freezes the side of his head and rips most of Kano's prosthetic device out of his head. Sub-Zero grabs the Kamidogu dagger from the ground and escapes out the window as Kano tells him "this isn't over".

Back in the present, Kano muses that he never saw Sub-Zero again, but his thoughts are interrupted as the two Black Dragon grunts now carrying Cassie and Jacqui are cut down by Mavado and his Red Dragon. A standoff begins as Mavado announces his intention to take the hostages.

Back in Earthrealm, Hanzo and Takeda make camp with their destination, the Sky Temple, visible in the distance. Takeda states that he's not tired and that they should have pushed on, but Hanzo warns him against the dangers of the storm. He notices that the clouds are approaching, and their campfire is struck by lighting; Raiden emerges from the blast, and, eyes crackling with red lightning, grabs Hanzo by the throat, admonishing; "You should not have come!"

End issue. NEXT: SCORPION UNLEASHED!

Ok, totally confused here. I haven't had much time for anything recently due to work and my son... am I to understand that the digital comics and the print versions are different and the print issues have much more story to them?

No the print versions have three digital chapters in them, but the print issues are released midway between digital chapter 2 and 3 of each print issue :)

For everyone interested in seeing Johnny Cage´s new swag outfit:

Nice! Cage is awesome, he is clearly more serious, when it comes to big picture, but at the same time kept his easygoing style. He NEEDS to be in this game.

I'm saying Kano was saying that from the other side. Since you seem to insist Erron was on the other side, I'm just as able to say Kano was in that place instead.

*sighs* The dialogue does not prove it was Kano, if you could see his face then you could say it was Kano. I'm insisting Erron was on the other side because you can see him and you can see he wasn't behind Cassie and Jacqui, you can't see Kano so any assumption the dialogue came from him is exactly that- an assumption.
That means it actually doesn't have anything to do with Raiden himself though, which is what I thought. So it's not like if Raiden wasn't there he could have just invaded Earthrealm because... reasons. He has to win the MK tournaments.
Exactly, he has to win the MK tournaments. But that didn't stop him doing it in MK9 :p

Yes and no. Its still not totally clear what Raiden's message ("He must win") was actually referring to because he sent it all the way back to himself during MK1. If Shao Kahn "won" back then its game over, cause MK1 was Earthrealms last chance to not get merged legally. Moreover, Shao Kahn wasn't even allowed into Earthrealm then, so why would Future Raiden send MK1 Raiden a message he literally can do nothing with. Was he really trying to say Liu must win MK1, but Shao must win after that? Maybe Future Raiden didn't even mean to send the message that far back, since "he must win" is really only relevant post MK2. Or maybe "he" is someone else along the line who could've won but didnt like Scorpion, Shujinko or Taven from MK5-7 and it was never about Shao Kahn.

Either way, there was no way past Raiden was going to get it right.
