New York 2015 MKX Thread

I live in upstate New York so this definitely peaks my interest.

upstate NY checking in as well. I think curbo, Dan cock, and bill stickers all live in upstate NY as well. I wish we had a scene upstate. I think Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse all have have small capcom scenes at least that's what I can tell from the shroyuken forums. I remember Jeremiah had great post about starting a scene. I like what the Vegas guys are doing with their scene. It is great to see all of tym excited about MKX. I just want the New York guys to know their are players/ stream monsters like myself who enjoy all that comes with the fgc and the nrs community. I hope more people post in this thread from upstate and downstate and we continue to get more players in the scene.

The comma fucked it up big time lol. And poor grammar on my part. I live in Altamont and Curbo lives in Rochester. Altamont is 30 minutes away from Albany and Rochester, I believe, is 2.5 hours or so.

I feel like you have a really bad attitude about getting involved with casuals and playing other people, and that stems from the phrase "not good enough" to play with us. Decay came into our scene when the game was over a year old, he did very poorly at his first offline tournament and just kept getting better and better.

Another note I want to add, is that its not "too late" to play a game and take something away from it, because alot of fundamentals and skills carry over. Do you think its a coincidence that FGC veterans like PR rog, justin wong, and chris G seem to dominate so easily at new games with little to no practice ? Its because of all the fundamentals and skills they have picked up and developed over the years and years of playing with other humans and being placed into a tournament setting.

I adopt this "too late" mentality, I just ordered an xbox one stick, and this time next week im going to be playing Killer instinct WAy more than a year into the games release. "why would you waste your time? youre not gonna win?" It's not a waste of time, its the experience of taking on a new game, and being able to look back on that experience and learn from it. LEARNING a new game is a skill, some people have a tougher/easier time doing it than others.



TLDR: knock that shitty attitude off, fundamentals and tournament experience carry over to other games!

Just silly stuff like Destiny, Shadow of Mordor, Dragon Age and Assasins creed.

I originally got a TE2 for KI cause I thought it was going to be played at the break. I didnt like the TE2 so I bought a Hori Xbox one stick but my favorite kind of buttons and stick didnt fit as well as I would of have hoped so I went back and remodded the TE2. I am currently though making a convertor that would allow me to use my ps3/xbox 360 sticks and pad on xbox one and ps4.

In NY and definitely plan on attending offline scenes...hopefully with this arrangement it's at better times and locations. Most of the stuff here is a bit out if the way with the traffic we get

in my early days of mk9 when i was meeting a lot a players by going to their house to play mk9 offline. i noticed the Bronx had a lot of players now that i think about i am surprise that there has never been anything in the Bronx area other than the cd brothers house lol.

Astoria, NY and Somerset, NJ checking in! I will definitely try to grind hard on Day 1, regardless if I ever become decent.

I want to try and host a Spring/Summer rooftop tournament/BBQ at my NY building...plenty of space, outlets, shade, grills etc.

That would be amazing. The more spots we have the better, that way more players can come out to things that they are close to or on days they are free to practice. It's a win / win for the whole scene really.

end of may in chicago i think its the replacement for UFGT. going to be one of the first MKX majors. im not sure how hard ill be able to go in mkx, depends on how accessible it is to me because at this point, if the last gen and pc versions are ass, its very likely i wont be able to have a reliable way to practice unless i somehow pull 600+ out of my ass to get a ps4, a stick and the game :/
