I second this. Can we not count long island as new york? I hate driving through the bottle neck of traffic hell that is the long island expressway!!
But either way I will support when I can.
I second this.
However if there was some sort of scene in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx or something I would 100% be able to make things that were Friday night or weekends.
Haha random Wed night fights type of deal would be death for me lol. I didn't think of that but you're right. I'd be able to go once a month after 9pm. I work at PWC, death on weekdays lol. Praying for a Friday weekly!
This is the FGC!!!!!
In all seriousness I've never seen anything work out when it was on a weekend. I'm not sure why, but look at all these weeklies all over the country? Why are they always on a weekday night? Same reason most bowling leagues are weekday nights, because commiting to being somewhere once a week is much easier if that day wasnt the day that everything is going on. This is what I think.
I personally can not always make it out to an event/casual session every weekend night because I usually make plans to go out and be with my girlfriend. Sunday night is probably the only day that could consistently work for me.
Did you not play/like injustice? I feel like this is the first time I'm seeing you on the forum.Haha random Wed night fights type of deal would be death for me lol. I'll have to make due gaming with some of yall through many many casuals then! At a place or at my house for all I care. I'll have my girl cook lol.
I'll be mainly playing in the LI / NYC area every week so you can expect to see me at NL again. I'll go to NJ at least once a month (minimum), only because it's so dang expensive when you're not using a car (LIRR + NJ Transit + Bus round trips is around $70 bucks...).I know most of you guys are mostly LI but I'm hoping I can get something set up in the NYC area as well through Next Level. I'll try to attend your guys events as well guys.
Why NY gotta be so big, though. ;__;. I just realized I forgot to put LI / NYC in the title, lol.Rochester reporting in
Yea I played Injustice for a little over a year. Loved it. But by the time I got really good I think you top players were too far ahead though. Only tournament I ever played in was the online playstation one on this site when i got 5th lol. I figured it was too late to jump in. Though this time I want to get involved with the offline scene from the beginning.Did you not play/like injustice? I feel like this is the first time I'm seeing you on the forum.
For injustice in the tristate area we had the break on tuesday nights, next level on wednesday night, and your once in a while tournament/events on saturdays, and your major tournaments (NEC, Winter Brawl, ECT, Summer Jam) that would take up an entire weekend 4 times a year.
The break tournament wouldnt start till around 930 or 10, so depending where you are, you can probably try to make it once in a while when mkx comes out.
I feel like you have a really bad attitude about getting involved with casuals and playing other people, and that stems from the phrase "not good enough" to play with us. Decay came into our scene when the game was over a year old, he did very poorly at his first offline tournament and just kept getting better and better.Yea I played Injustice for a little over a year. I'm always posting on here man. Like daily almost. I just never get involved with any of the dramatic stuff so my post might fly under the radar lol.
Is it Next Level the one that is in Brooklyn somewhere? I think I might start out driving out to that one come MKX and take it from there. I live in the Bronx, and might move to Manhattan in a few months, so long Island on a weekday would be too far because I work early on most weekdays.
woorrdddd????!?!?!?! rooftop party!!!Astoria, NY and Somerset, NJ checking in! I will definitely try to grind hard on Day 1, regardless if I ever become decent.
I want to try and host a Spring/Summer rooftop tournament/BBQ at my NY building...plenty of space, outlets, shade, grills etc.
Yup. I've been thinking out the logistics for over a year. It can be done--successfully. I just want to ensure that people would actually come hence, I'm hopeful to make more appearances for MKX.woorrdddd????!?!?!?! rooftop party!!!
Well I don't know why you seem kind of hostile all of a sudden. I have years of tournament experience in Tekken 5-DR-6-BR and play mostly fighters so it's not like I'm some random teenager never having played at a high level.I feel like you have a really bad attitude about getting involved with casuals and playing other people, and that stems from the phrase "not good enough" to play with us. Another note I want to add, is that its not "too late" to play a game and take something away from it, because alot of fundamentals and skills carry over. Do you think its a coincidence that FGC veterans like PR rog, justin wong, and chris G seem to dominate so easily at new games with little to no practice ? Its because of all the fundamentals and skills they have picked up and developed over the years and years of playing with other humans and being placed into a tournament setting.
I adopt this "too late" mentality, I just ordered an xbox one stick, and this time next week im going to be playing Killer instinct WAy more than a year into the games release. "why would you waste your time? youre not gonna win?" It's not a waste of time, its the experience of taking on a new game, and being able to look back on that experience and learn from it. LEARNING a new game is a skill, some people have a tougher/easier time doing it than others.
TLDR: knock that shitty attitude off, fundamentals and tournament experience carry over to other games!
Im not being hostile, I'm just putting the information out there for someone who might be in a similar situation. Over the life time of injustice I've heard alot of people say they were going to come, and back out of it. I think most of them back because they have the attitude I mentioned in my previous post. I hope to see you around at mkx eventsWell I don't know why you seem kind of hostile all of a sudden. Nevertheless, I understand the points you made and agree for the most part. I probably should've jumped in right away instead of shying away. I either always made an excuse of being too busy to go somewhere, thinking I was too far behind the curve, or just nerves in general to join into a new scene again. A mistake I won't make when MKX comes around.
Thanks for all the prior info.
maybe its just because i Know Miguel Personally but he wasn't being hostile at all, but it is the internet and words don't always come out as planned online. Also what he said is 100000% true like you acknowledged, Next Level is in Sunset Park Brooklyn right off the D train, my advice though is to try to make it out to places you can get more casuals going. places like next level and the break only have on flaw, they don't have enough set ups to accommodate for everyone to get in as much practice as possible. at least with VSM it was only one game being played and many set ups, you could level up really fast there. the best though is gathering a someones house and just grinding all night. these level up sessions are super great because you're not forced to a time limit usually and get get a lot of MU xp in a short amount of time offline.Well I don't know why you seem kind of hostile all of a sudden. thats good to hear, you'll find that most of us are really chill people in person with similar interest, i've been to arma's house plenty of times to train as well as 7L's. CDjr's and swifttomhanks. we've chilled, drank and gamed until we couldn't anymore.Ah ok ok, I can imagine.
But you were right though, I definitely should've done what I'm doing now. I felt I had a really good Raven as some of the people I've played here can attest but I never got around to showcasing her. And I definitely don't want to play the game for a year+ just to be an online warrior again lol.
I'm definitely gonna have to meet some of you guys so I can have consistent good players to play against. Like @Zyphox was saying I'll do both, go places to meet names to faces and then start running games with the NY guys. I don't mind getting bopped until I win sets if that's what it takes! How else would I learn to play against *insert MKX annoying character? Lol
Like I was saying earlier too, when I can meet some of the nyc players i can run casuals at my house. I have a decent amount of space and its a block from the train for people who metro. The more people playing the better. I want to at least play someone(s) every Saturday or Sunday and then try out a tourney and take it from there.
It's a start.
Haha nice! I'm tagging a hell of a lot of people in this thread when this game drops to either set up somewhere to play or see what's going on!thats good to hear, you'll find that most of us are really chill people in person with similar interest, i've been to arma's house plenty of times to train as well as 7L's.
