MKX Comic Plot Discussion & Speculation Thread

To be honest when it comes to 90% of the post MK4 cast, I love their potential more than the actual characters themselves, because those characters don't have much development.

It saddens me that people focus so much on what these character were instead of what they can be.

The timeline has been reset and we have a good ass team of devs designing these games now.

If anyone is being brought back, we can all rest assured for a fact that they'll look way cooler, and they'll be presented way cooler.

These characters need to be made good, not discarded.

Everybody wins when we turn the bad characters good instead of just getting rid of them, because every character has a fan base.
I agree so much with this. I feel kinda sad when I see those posts that say, for example, that Kenshi is the only post MK4 character that doesn't suck. When I read something like that, I just hope that the guys at Netherrealm don't share these kind of views.

I think that Deadly Alliance and Deception were in their own way awesome games with great plots and it's a fact that they established a lot of things we don't give them credit for. As such, their characters can't be (they're not) as bad as some make them to be. That is not to say they didn't have their issues, but, like Pterodactyl said, that's what's exciting, because they have potential to be improved, not only, design-wise but many of them also have less baggage and thus room to change their stories/events.

To me, characters like Reiko, Fujin, Havik, Mavado, Hotaru, Daegon, Shujinko and others, have the potential to be made awesome, given a re-design, a good move-set and a great story.

Hey, I'm kind of green when it comes to understanding how comics are structured as far as issues, and chapters, and releases and such, so can someone more knowledgeable set me straight?

What I'm hearing is that there are going to be 4 issues, with 3 or so chapters each (?), and those 4 issues equate to the first "run" (?) of the series. Is this how this is going to work? Every week we will get a chapter, and at the end of those chapters that will be the end of the "issue", and the cycle will rinse and repeat until whenever?

tooo many retarded posts to quote for me in this thread...

A) Why do some of you think your version (which you dont have a version that you put hours of work into) is BETTER than what the current writer and artists version is?
B) Its issue #1 man, how do you expect to know the entire backround of all the characters mentioned in a 22 page (or whatever it is) digital comic..? They are going to have to jump around here and there...Space and time are limited (13 weeks until MKX game-story begins.
C) I dont really have a C lol... But the point is YOU ARE NOT SMARTER or BETTER and YOU CANNOT WRITE or COME UP WITH A BETTER plot than the guys working on the book

Well fellas, I found this video the other day containing VS dialogue between Sub-Zero & Quan Chi. It's kinda tough to make out what Quan Chi is saying, but give it a listen. I've heard plenty of great theories from you guys, but I hope it Kuai Liang. One thing is clear it's definitely not a new Sub-Zero

Quan Chi: "Your brother has succumbed to his fate."

Sub-Zero: "I am NOT my brother!"

Raiden: "I am the protector, not you!"

Sub-Zero: "Earthrealm needs better protection!"

What's clear to me is that Sub-Zero has like the coolest ( :DOGE ) voice in the history of everything ever. But yeah, since this Sub doesn't have a scar I'm guessing it's Bi-Han. (Hoping it's Kuai though)

In the game, that might be, and probably is, a different Subzero entirely...if it's not Bi Han. In the comic though, that Subzero gets some type of scar at the end of Chap #1, thus is why I think that one is Kuai Liang.

I preface this with saying that NRS has a history of messing around with that scar. You would think that if that was Kuai in MKX that he'd have the scar, but just like in MK Deception, they could take the scar away again for no apparent reason.

I doubt it. The dialogue with Quan Chi destroys that theory. The only angle would be if one of the sub-zeros had kids, but that would be very cheesy IMO.

The comic is cool, but I'm taking that with a grain of salt for now.

MK9 He didn't have the scar either.

i cant help but think the Netherrealm war is referring to a jail break of sorts. it would explain how some warriors like Kung Lao were brought back. the Netherealm is more like Hades than Hell meaning you can get back to the other realms it's just really difficult.

This theory and the one most believe in (me included), are not mutually exclusive. We could have a "Netherrealm jail break", as you call it, that is brought upon by Shinnok and Quan Chi in their MK4 related attack.

That pretty much exactly what MK4 was about.

what about a third brother?

Atriox

I don't think it's a third brother, I don't think it's an entirely new Sub either. Just listen to the so far revealed intro dialogue between Scorpion and this Sub-Zero, for example when Scorpion called him a murderer, Sub replied with "I tire of maintaining our innocence." Why would some random new Sub say that? It only makes sense if there's some history between Scorp and this Sub. (Unless it's in fact a new one that just happened to kill Scorp's entire clan again...) All of that aside, we're emotionally connected to the Sub-Zero brothers, we want to know what part they'll play in the story, so making the Sub in the game a new character would just be a dumb move imo. Usually NRS doesn't make dumb moves.

Also, according to wikias and stuff, there isn't any 3rd brother. They only have a sister
