What's new

Out of the revealed roster movesets which one style sounds the scariest?

Stuff like this leads to unnecessary nerfs or buffs which breaks characters.

Can we just let the game breath a bit before deciding what is good or bad?

  • Goro-he plays like doomsday? Instant top 1 in the first month of release...
Nobody ever really implied that he does in fact play like Doomsday. Somebody preemptively complained that his mobility will suck and Boon used the analogy of Doomsday in Injustice to remind everyone that not every big hitbox character has to be a slow, lumbering tank. So there's a chance at least one of his variations will be on some beastmode shit dashing half screen on all four arms but we can only hope as of now lol.

Shoot them. Shoot them all.
Quan chi's warlock looks scary to me I don't want to deal with any of that lol
Exactly. I'm shocked there aren't more people in fear of what some of the top Quans will look like 6 months in…

His portals and that summoned demon looks like a complete nightmare to deal with. I've got my eyes set on him ;)

My ass.

This thread was made for speculation based on our sparse information, being able to discuss things like this is part of this forum's purpose.

That's why the title uses "sounds the scariest" not "is the scariest".

All three of Quan Chi's variations look like they'll be big pains in my ass

In Zoning We Trust
Shinnok's inevitable zoning heavy variation will be bitched about Day 1. You heard it here first.

As far as released ones, Kung Lao's Tempest and Sub's Unbreakable seem like they'll be beastly.

Cyrax bombs do somthing after being thrown. They control space and force the opponent to move. Picture if cyrax had yo throw two bombs and then do another special for them to detonate.... as of rifht now compairing cyrax bombs to raidens orbs is stupid.
Cyrax's bombs detonated in a game that was released. MKX isn't. We don't know how Raiden's lightning traps will work. I know you said "as of right now" but saying that then complaining about it in a multitude of posts is needless. Seriously, nobody knows anything about how this game will work. It's still over 3 months away from release.

I understand the thread's purpose is to speculate, but there's a difference between speculating about how something will work, and taking something we know now (which may or may not be accurate) for a fact.

MK11 Kabal = MK9 Kitana
I think about this in terms of what I am going to have to deal with... Kung Lao and Raiden anything scares me. There is nothing I hate more than having to deal with a character that can get in no matter where they are... Anti-footsie characters be damned!

Really likes to throw things at you.

In all honesty I'm just salty that they turned out (as of right now) to not be like Martian's orbs. I was whole heartedly hoping they they would have a hitbox (ice clone-ish) so that way he could play super lame or trap in corner. Then I heard that they dont... I'm just speculating (obviously) but I have a hard time seeing a tool such as that being useful in a game where mobility is hightened with running AND when you take away such a useful tool (teleport).

although it hasn't been demonstrated before its possible the arc range can be much greater, and if they dont dissapear quickly you can possibly build it as the match goes on. i doubt anything will be as good as Cyrax's bombs as they're probably avoiding that, but i dont think they would make it in three parts for no reason just saying.

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
As mentioned before...this isn't a "pass final judgment" thread. Merely a thread where we mention what things sound the scariest for each of us to face so far. Not gonna lie...I struggle with orb traps and stuff with Martian Manhunter and I fear folks getting Raiden figured out on Storm Lord and walling me in. I play grapplers and that stuff is a nightmare for me. For me...thats currently what I'm afraid of the most. Doesn't mean it will be good or bad, but I'm definitely sweating the potential if its done well.

Also Hat Trick Kung Lao...I've fought some nasty characters in other games who could lay an item down then call it towards them at will and it gets scary with both extensions and setups. Arc System Works and even Project M players have showed me how devastating a tool that can be if you learn to use it properly.

These are the things I fear facing folks. Later we can all quote and look back and see what fears came true or not. For now...speculate and point out the possible advantages of these tools if they were done well. Help each other get ideas what to try to lab out at launch to see what may be possible or not.

Anyone here a Quan Chi guy? I'd like to have the top priority thoughts you are considering with his info to try and make him scare folks. I've never really understood him aside from projectiles and meter basics. Looks interesting in Warlock variation given it gives him portals to hit people with attacks and teleport them around sorta like some sorta new take on the whole Noob Saibot and Smoke combo ideas. Not certain how this ties into his normal gameplay style though.

Do we know what happens when you do the third special move when there's only one orb floating? The EX version of that "activation" move is that electrical force field I believe, but what if you could detonate one orb or create the arc if there's two out?

This question will never be answered, nobody will ever play any Raiden except Displacer because it has teleport.

The Bomb Diggity
I'm most looking forward to Kano, especially his Commando & Knife variations. The most scary? Either Displacer Raiden or Kung Lao

It is January 2015. Have you seen the duration/activation of them? It takes, no shit, 3 special moves to activate a trap. That is pretty insane. It is not like they do anything while they are not activated (at least not in any current build that has been shown) and the start up on them is long as fuck. Then to top it all off they need ANOTHER special to activate them... picture ANY senario where you would be able to pull that off vs a person who knows that your entire character is based around those. I can forsee that variation being zoned out hard. Why would I want to give up teleports for those? Seems pretty useless to me.
They're likely to get buffed I think, they might stay on screen for a long time or even until they're connected, everyone's counting on Thunder God to have great damage and displacer to be OP otherwise raiden will just be mid tier again
