Super Smash Bros Discussion!

I'm having a lot of success with robin. I really like zelda in this game too. I'm going to try Ganondorf but i can't imagine it being a good idea but fuck it
I would highly suggest going into classic, gimmicking the roulette wheel to fish for red badges, and trying to get Ganondorf's custom stuff. He has the option of either a faster Warlock Punch or one that hits half screen with a sword which is great for edge trolling. Also he has higher up B specials and divekicks. He even has a few options on things to swap flamechoke for like punches...all of these do great on combos and short hops and lend him better Oki.

Remember though...he's still Dorf. It will be a defensive match with in and out high damage stuff.

More or less dropped PacMan and started using D3 and Rosa as pocket characters.

Megaman is my main 100% now with Ganon on the side. These are the only 2 I've used in tournament thus far.

Also Crash Bomb may be my favorite m0ve in the game. It allows for so much flashy shit.

Its been awhile since launch. Who do you find yourself having the most success as in Smash 4 so far? For me...its surprisingly not Ganondorf who I have the most experience with nor Little Mac. Not even Peach...I'm doing the most consistent with Dr Mario,Dedede and Pacman somehow. I've mained the Dorfer for 10 years, mained Peach in Project M and went in hard on Little Mac.

For some reason though I'm the most consistenet with the freakshow I listed above. Came as an odd surprise. Who is putting in the best results for the rest of you so far?
Ganondorf and Ike :D after using Ganondorf, Ike felt faster. but I only play online.
IKE player made to GF in Youmacon though, that is sick

Can we all agree that rosalina (and luma) is the best in the game?
No we can not. Not while Sheik exists.

Also she does have some weaknesses UNLESS you turn customs on, in which case she can go fuck herself.

But yeah, play Rosalina a little bit; it gives you a better understanding of what you need to do to beat her (safe Disjoints on her shield to rape Luma, rush her down constantly UNLESS you are a character that can pressure her with projectiles despite her DownB, only use throws that complete their animation before Luma has time to move)

Don't get me wrong, she is still godlike, but I can't see her as the best in the game.

Are you guys using wifi or a lan adapter for online gaming on the Wii-U? I need the best online experience for Smash. I've been told that a lan adapter doesn't make much of a difference on the Wii-U.

I'm using Wifi. To date it hasn't affected me any. To date I don't have Smash on Wii U yet to review the connection properly though...sorry. I'll be playing day 1 so I'll keep ya posted.

Ouch...sooooooooooo many tricks to cancel landing lag removed. Bye bye turnip, sneak, and bomb canceling landing lag. I hardly knew ye.

Oh well...PROJECT M at least gave me the sickest update ever! Fucking reflect and float on Ganondorf with a taunt that is chargeable for a sword attack with super armor.
Huh... My facebook feed has been full of people complaining about that PM update since it dropped. I don't play the game so couldn't say, but heard Pit is no longer the same character and that Lucas went to shit.

Yeah their were some trajectory and hit box changes on those two and people haven't compensated yet. They aren't bad though...people just hate relearning is the way I see it.

Check the changelog to get an idea whats up.

Well, although I know a lot of people who play it, I seriously have probably played like 3 matches of PM ever, and I was not sober when I did. That changelog won't mean much to me >.<

Oh my god, all of this looks amazing. Especially the all-star versus mode! I would actually like to see that played in tournaments- where players have to pick multiple characters!

and then I read this:

Seriously, f* Nintendo if this is true. That's just a low move. Sorry that it must hurt their ego that some modders made a better Smash game than they ever could since Melee, but they don't need to be so butthurt over it that they request the game be removed from the lineup.

In that case yeah Pit is a totally different character. The power of flight allowed him to just sail off to areas where some folks could never reach and his sword spin was just about as dumb as trident rush in Injustice. In Project M they replaced power of flight with a shield bash uppercut...think ROY sword uppercut and you get an idea...only it has sick knockback and is a nice up throw into KO juggle. Also his sword spin was replaced with something VERY good...a swooping glide that comes out super fast that you can cancel into ANYTHING. In other words you can do this...

be still my beating erection.

Also Lucas isn't bad at all. Heck some stuff he has is new. Check out this for a flavor of his new combo potential.

so.... anyone feel like the game is.... well, just isn't right?

There is the weirdest ending lag on random moves, everything feels clunky.

Mario's fireball on hit hardly has any hit stun (as if it had any to begin with) I find if I hit someone with a fireball point blank, I still need to put my shield up so I don't get thrashed right after. Also feels like there's a whole lot more startup.

But this kind of applies to EVERYTHING. The characters feel like they have more weight to them, which is why I get some people saying "it's between Melee and Brawl", but most of the moves I remember from the old Smash now just all longer startup, longer ending lag, or both.

I mean, take Samus for instance, and do her side tilt attack. Look at the MASSIVE amount of ending lag on the move! Holy negative-on-block batman! It's even weirder because her down tilt is still reasonably good. It doesn't seem like they did it for balance purposes, it's just randomly there or not. Mario just doesn't feel pleasant to control. Neither does Samus.

Even moves that already had massive ending lag in Brawl feel like they have more here. Falcon kick oh my god. Captain Falcon looks like he has a bad knee and has to hobble back up off the ground like he tores is ACL every time he does it... And speaking of knees... What happened to the knee of justice? They already made it weaker in brawl, now it feels like every other move in this game- weak and without impact.

I'm trying to enjoy the game so far, but I'm just not feeling it.

YES!
Project M makes the new smash obsolete in every way.

i really don't know why people find it appealing at all

Online mode is why. I don't like the gameplay, but Brawl online is awful. Haven't tried Project M online but I don't imagine it would be much better given it's the same base game. And Project M demands precision even more, so the lag would be doubly as bad.

I am making due with are two things
1) Characters that still play similar to Melee style (kinda like MetaKnight was in Brawl). Sheik falls into this category. Not so bad playing them as it is playing a character like Mario, who is a pure Brawl no-offensive-capability character.
2) Zoners. Any jump in attack on shield is going to be punished, any dash attack is punishable, and you can't smash or tilt out of runs so that's the only option... Zoners don't have to deal with this BS because they can just turtle up. Basically, playing an offensive character in Smash Wii U is frustrating, but it doesn't really negatively effect defensive characters all that much- sans the "melee style" characters mentioned previously.

But yeah, Sheik and Samus. Mah new mains now....

** Also, characters like Rosalina and Diddy Kong manage to get around the games bias against offence, since Luma and banana peels open up avenues to initiate offence safely.
