Hello there.
Recently I was thinking about it and realized (after doing fast "research") that a lot of FGs out there have feature that allows you to record fights to access them later. AFAIK games like SSF4, DoA5, VF5FS, SC5, KI can do this. Utility can vary, but general idea is the same. The game records N latest fights and there's usually an option to "permanently" save some or all of those to watch them one day.
Thinking about it, I feel that MK kind of lags behind FG world and I think that this should be fixed. Obviously, it's not the top priority, but it would be nice to have. I should note that technically we even had everything it takes in MK9 and IGAU, but unfortunately, recording could only be used in training mode there.
Upsides of this feature are obvious:
- analyzing your own gameplay to spot ways to improve;
- during tournaments, recording fights that won't make it on stream otherwise so everyone could see them anyways;
- ability to outsource your tech videos to your friends so that they can make videos proper (no more recording on potato if you don't have anything better);
- availability of compressed format to share your recordings without having to run video grabber software or something else and without everyone having to download huge videos - useful to ask for tips, show some strategy and for any reason really;
- you can save something as soon as some WTF moment happens without having to recreate it, which isn't always easy;
- with some additional functionality you can do something video ripping can't: track inputs, watch frame-by-frame, see hitboxes and how they worked out this time... Hell, even maybe just make an eyecandy of a video should recorder allow you to control camera and the like. In short, anything that has no place during actual match...
In this thread I'd like you to ask if you are interested in this feature at all, and if you are, what features would you like to see/use? Please share your thoughts!
