I might have put Shiek a bit low, but I wouldn't go beyond mid tier. She can go pretty out of her way to get gimps and recover to the ledge, but she has similar problems to Brawl where she was a low mid tier character. If the whole DACUS thing pans out she might have a reliable way to approach and kill, but I doubt that will happen till the Wii U version.Dude your day 1 impressions are pretty all over the place here. I can't wait to see this in a month. Sheik especially is not a low tier. Bounding fish alone augments her kill and recovery game and her grenade move gives her a lot of control out there and she was never a bad character. She has a jumping combo that goes all the way off the stage for kills now. She's a very mobile threat. I dont even see Mega Man placed on the list yet. Additionally have you fought someone using Villager's slingshot on rapid fire hops like he was old school Falco or something? His hit and run game is pretty decent and his stage recovery is so great he can chase ridiculously far.
Glad you've tried so many though. Your list will shake up a lot though as you play...there is a LOT goin' on out there so look forward to all the juicy stuff you'll see later. Just wait till you start doing edge canceling and stuff. Peach is pretty cool about those and some cast even have hidden tools. Link is supposed to be able to act immediately out of throws now allowing easier juggles. There is just so much here to cover it just flows on for days.
I actually think Mario is better than doc. Fireball spacing is much more effective than pill zoning because of the way the pills bounce based on jump height. FLUDD actually does allow you to get some early kills because it's quite useful this iteration. Mario' combo potential is also much better than Doc's with u-tilt chains leading into u-airs and a lower knockback d-throw. I actually think Mario will fall into a higher tier due to his combo potential and ability to steal low percent kills.Word, I'm open to discussion. Obviously I'm way off the mark with a lot of this because the game is new but these are just my first impressions after a pretty long offline session with multiple people.
I think Doc might be because pills are good and yeah his aerials are active but again they're very short range.
I really think Pacman is a bill. His recovery is too involved and easy to counter, but I can see him being good in the future with how off-the-wall his moves are. His smashes are like...unusable though and his tilts aren't good enough to cover it. His nair is good for sure but I was getting beat on most other aerials.
I feel Peach will be nasty with a c-stick. She has the same float-cancel type of game as Brawl but her aerials seem better all-around.
Haven't played Puff but I'm happy to hear that, wall-of-paining seems to be really good in this one.

Hmm, maybe I am wrong about these guys. I'll have to play both of them again. I will admit I did not give FLUDD a fair shake, I was mostly looking at people's normals/aerials and what I thought their knockback potential vs. defensive options seem to be since I think that is what will run this game.I actually think Mario is better than doc. Also, your assessment of Sheik surprises me considering everyone on smashboards is putting her at S tier with ZSS, Duck Hunt Duo and Bowser.

His side throws are great off the edge, even though it's not far. you can get hella combos and baits into hydro pump. At the moment my thing to do is just HP them trying to jump back, sending them about 3x as high as they plan on going, then hitting them as they come down.
imo, Jigglypuff destroys Little Mac. You just need to get him off the stage. He isn't even intimidating to chase because his aerials are so bad and his side-B has a goofy hitbox. It's pretty much the only way he can recover.am loving this game

Smashboards.com is your primary center for smash on the net. And BTW a lot of folks are feelin' ya on that Yoshi. He is FAR improved. Really solid character who benefitted a lot from system mechanic changes and a few hitbox/knockback changes.I'm really diggin Yoshi.

Like explination of the lingo and all that jazz? I haven't really played a smash game in like 7 years since I skipped Brawl and don't play competitve Melee.

I don't know about any of you but I'm entering Smash 3DS at TFC and I intend to attend other smash tournies so custom moves seem relevant to me. From what I've heard from the Smash community, rules have yet to be decided but most likely custom moves will be aloud while equipment will most likely not be permitted. I know some characters benefit from changing their moves more than others and I see no reason to not allow custom movesetspac-man is awesome, i love the hydrant.
