Resident Evil remake coming to PS4/PS3/Xbox 360/XB1 Early 2015

This could actually be really cool as long as Capcom doesn't go heavy on the gunplay like the later games. Resident Evil as a series started to tone down the SURVIVAL part of the series by deemphasizing resource management, puzzle exploration, and ammo conservation. Hopefully a contemporary re-imagining will stay true to the game design that made Resident Evil such a pioneer in the genre. Tweaking puzzles and action setpieces couldn't hurt either as having everything EXACTLY the same is a bit anti-climactic.
The problem with this ethos is that it's pretty much a one trick pony. After your first playthrough, you know what to expect and don't have much else to explore, and to be honest, it seemed they were running dry on new ideas after Code Veronica anyway. I don't really prefer the route Capcom have taken with the modern games either, but I understand why they did.

remake

remake... again?

(If you understand the reference here I'll give you a cookie.)
Referring to that is was very common for the GC remake being called REmake, the RE meaning Resident Evil, hence ResidnetEvilmake?

So this will be REREmake or REmakeREmake.

That was longer than I thought but that's my guess lol Man, what the eff are we going to call this game?

This is something I'll only buy if they go back and rewrite all the dialogue.

It's hard for the game to be scary or tense when I can't stop laughing.

All the dialogue has been changed. Many of the difficult camera angles have been altered. New enemies, new rooms, and new puzzles have been added. A new storyline for a new non-playable character has also been created.

I never owned a GameCube, so I played this game on the Dolphin emulator. If you enjoy the old-fashioned survival horror gameplay and not this recent third person shooter trash, this game is the best Resident Evil game ever made.

Here is a video (as played on the Dolphin emulator).

I have to agree with dave, outside of butchering the dialogue this is absolutely the definitive version of RE1 and a must play if you never have or have only played the original. That said, WHO SERIOUSLY HASN'T PLAYED THIS YET? This should be an extra disc on some new horrible RE6 port or something, not a full release, digital or otherwise.

Capcom is fuckin' up.

I read on the international pr that you can alternate the game with classic or modern gameplay. It's cool to see this game is coming out in other platforms. Although I already got this for the Wii. I hope to see Zero and Outbreak.

This is the only one in the series I haven't played since I didn't have a GameCube at the time. Can't wait!!! :)

This is great. I loved the gamecube remake. I actually bought a gamecube for that and RE4. I really liked how the gamecube remake stayed fairly true to the original while also adding new elements that were cool, such as outdoors parts, and adding the super zombies that came back if you didnt burn the bodies.

I enjoyed RE4 and RE5 as a long time RE fan. I really liked mercenaries mode as well. RE6 story mode was really bad. It seemed rushed and the reappearing bosses were just obnoxious, when I think they were trying to appear epic. Mercenaries mode in RE6 was still great, even though I didnt play it as much as RE5 mercs, so thats a slightly redeeming factor.

I'm hoping that this is a precursor to An RE 7 announcment. Apparently people were shooting rumours around of an E3 announcment.

Also, from what I've been reading the screenshots from the video are from the PS3 version.

I am all for this remake and any other RE remakes they decide to do in the future. The longer they can stay away from the Michael Bay RE6 gameplay and possible sequels building off that concept, the better.

They should introduce online co-op so I can do all the stuff that Barry or Wesker is doing.

I'll def check this out. I always wondered why Capcom didn't put this game on every platform like they did RE4.

Shoot them. Shoot them all.
Aww...such an iconic game. I remember my boyfriend at the time surprised me with a Gamecube solely so I could play this incarnation of the game.

It was the darkest and scariest version I had ever played (and still to this day). Those crimson zombies literally made me scream every time they would spawn in random rooms... *shivers*

.... they mostly come at night. Mostly.
great news !! finally that stupid "Nintendo exclusive" deal must have ended, and now, we have chance to play this game, with updated graphics ..... man, seems like Capcom finally is doing something right after doing a lot of stuff wrong regarding RE franchise series ..... cannot wait for this game release come out !! :D

Honestly, from someone who's played most of the games in the series, I appreciate the old games for what they are -- but I also had a blast playing through RE5 with a friend. I think that people should accept the games for what they are; the older games are fun, but RE4 and RE5 are also a ton of fun even if the gameplay is somewhat different.

Personally as long as it's a good game (Unlike RE6), I'll have a blast playing it either way.

But since this is a remake and not a new title, it will definitely be aligned with the older gameplay.
hey, I liked RE6 :( lol and I never got to play the old RE games, but I heard good things about them.
