Resident Evil remake coming to PS4/PS3/Xbox 360/XB1 Early 2015

This could actually be really cool as long as Capcom doesn't go heavy on the gunplay like the later games. Resident Evil as a series started to tone down the SURVIVAL part of the series by deemphasizing resource management, puzzle exploration, and ammo conservation. Hopefully a contemporary re-imagining will stay true to the game design that made Resident Evil such a pioneer in the genre. Tweaking puzzles and action setpieces couldn't hurt either as having everything EXACTLY the same is a bit anti-climactic.

So is this going to a HD upgrade or full on remake of the remake? Can't watch the vid at the mo.

Didnt watch the vid but isnt this just a hd version of the gamecube remake?
Yeah after watching the vid I think that it might actually be a HD remaster of the 2002 GameCube version. Which...is cool by me since I never played that version.

Personally, Im hyped because I was trying to get my hands on that remake for years. Its expensive and very hard to get in my country. Like all the Ninny stuff anyway...

I wonder if they'll get rid of that ridiculous glitch that gave you infinite grenade launcher ammo.

At least it's a new remaster and not Super Turbo Resident Evil 4 Arcade Hyper Fighting Remix Edition HD

I thought they we're going to reboot the series but this isn't to bad since this is (arguably) the best Resident Evil ever made imo, coming from someone that has been playing this series since I was 7.

Honestly, from someone who's played most of the games in the series, I appreciate the old games for what they are -- but I also had a blast playing through RE5 with a friend. I think that people should accept the games for what they are; the older games are fun, but RE4 and RE5 are also a ton of fun even if the gameplay is somewhat different.

Personally as long as it's a good game (Unlike RE6), I'll have a blast playing it either way.

But since this is a remake and not a new title, it will definitely be aligned with the older gameplay.

I don't necessarily mean games by Capcom, just games in general.

Seems like a ton of remakes are happening... Master Chief Collection, Last of Us (which like, just freaking came out not too long ago), Something else I don't remember, and now Resident Evil.
Yeah. People want to enjoy older games on the newer consoles. I mean, I can understand; the original RE experience didn't age very well due to the technology used. It has you playing in a little letterbox with super blurry textures in order to play on today's TVs.

There are still plenty of original titles coming out though, at both an AAA and an independent level. I think we can safely say that there's more new material to play now then there has been for over a decade.

I've been a huge Resident Evil fan since the beginning and will continue to support the franchise / Capcom in whatever project(s) they decide to undertake (with the RE name).

I'll be picking this up without a doubt (even if it's just an upgraded version of a game I already own).

Are ya' ready for MK11 kids?!
Hmm, interesting that Capcom are only doing this now, did the exclusivity deal with Nintendo really last this long? And does this mean Zero will follow suit?

And can we please stop calling HD remasters "HD remakes"? Like, with a few exceptions, nothing is actually redone. The fundamental purpose is to provide a serviceable image in conjunction with today's commonplace resolutions on modern TVs. During the PS2/Gamecube/OG Xbox era, not many TVs in mass market households supported anything beyond 360p. Go figure.
