Wow, your kid is great with Reptile. Seems more like a tournament player than a 9 year old. He's got some great mix-up with Reptile, with the use of the slide and b4(or is it b3)? He can land some great combos too. Seems to know when to grab also.
The kid has potential. If he wants to learn and be taken to a higher level, so be it. But if he starts seeming tired or doesn't want to go, don't make him. Just a thought. Right now he looks to probably be very good later on in his life. First kid MK9 player? lol. Hopefully Fox news doesn't catch this story!

now i would not feel right being from texas if i did not give one little word of warning

dont push him to hard only have him do this if its truly what he wants and not what you want for him

like i said im from texas and we are notorious for the children's beauty pageants where parents try to live through there kids and end up basically killing there child hood.


now im not saying you are doing any of thows things i am just saying keep your own reasons for encouraging your son in check and make sure its for his fun and not something you feel you lost.

nah brother, i let him play when he wants to, nothing is being forced on him, he actually loves this game the most out of all of them.

I'm just saying man, I mean what if he wants to show off to his friends at school. "hey guys, check out that awesome vid where i'm tearing it up on mortal kombat". They check it out and he's never gonna hear the end of it, he's gonna want to fatality himself.

Anyways so about your kid's ability to play. I don't want to be a downer, but I also don't want to get anyone's hopes up. He's not a tourney player. He's got tourney potential. Especially at your kid's age, he'll probably develop faster reflexes and whatnot. I mean, tourney play requires a lot of technical stuff, like knowing matchups, frame data, all things he might not really care about. At least for now, develop his love of fighting games and he's gonna be really awesome when he's 21, but who knows what's gonna happen to the genre then? That 41% corner combo was ridiculous.

EDIT: But then again if he is into it there's gonna be a problem. He will be the new man to put the bread on the table, and you'll be stuck... with some kind of problem. Don't know what it is yet though.

i just wanted to see if i was just being biased because hes my son, and boy am i glad is not just me who believes he can be good if he keeps it up
and that 41%? lol that he came up with it on his own, matter of fact, he watches videos on CHECK4900 channel, and while he never writes down anything, he remembers and does them, he also has done combos where am like...WTF lol
man this has been for the most part a great day for me and him.

Thanks brother, it hasnt been easy this summer with grandma dying and him having surgery for his sleep apnea and stuff.
So i try, i try hard to be the rock for this family

There will be people there with converters. You use pad I assume? I use stick so can't help. I can bring a ps2 controller and I'm certain someone will have an adapter you can use. If not, I think you can use the wireless pad also, but have to sync manually with the cable. Don't hold me to that, just a guess. I'll have the ps2 pad for you either way.

It was an EX dash. Lots of EX moves in this game get you in the 40's.

No offense, but he doesn't seem that good. Looking at him as another player not a 9 year old kid, he seems slow, he missed a lot of punishes, he burned through his meter unnecessarily sometimes and he also dropped quite a few combos. He basically just looks like another mediocre reptile to me. There a dime a dozen online.

Your son definitely has potential! I wonder how far he can go!
But he's not even better because the only player he mostly fought against was you. In order to increase his skills he must fight other people. Online sucks, yeah, but it apparently it's his best option by now, and it definitely helps. But if you ever manage to take him to any casual offline play with other decent players, you'll see how much knowledge he'll acquire.
