weird al lost a lot of his edge in the age of youtube parodies. its hard to even make a case for him being better at it than the internet guys. weird al holds a place in parody history though.

I will always love Weird Al. I've been a fan of his since I can remember.

While he may not stack up to the YouTube parodies we have today, I still enjoy his stuff. This song is absolutely amazing.

Which artists would those be, though? I'm struggling to think of a YouTube artist who is at least on par with Weird Al, let alone someone who is actually better.

Weird Al has been doing this for decades and it shows, and I mean that in a good way. His songs, even these new ones, have depth and sound like it took a while to put together. Most of the other YouTube artists are kind of entertaining, but they lack polish and sound like they were brainstormed and executed over a weekend.

An Oxford Comma is actually OK.

Our avoidance of it is similar to the outdated insistence that we stick all punctuation to the inside of quotations- despite this potentially leading to ambiguity.

The question of whether to use it or not simple comes down to that: avoid ambiguity.

I can't think of any in particular. I was just avoiding saying the guy was completely wrong in regards to his opinion.

No one's better than Weird Al as far as I'm concerned.

If I'm not mistaken, the current Associated Press Style Guide still does not accept the Oxford comma. I do agree with you that its use should depend on whether or not it helps avoid ambiguity. Ambiguity, which can lead to confusion, is a big reason why people argue that it is important for (written) language to follow strict standards.

"The walls were painted white, black, red and yellow" might or might not mean the same as "The walls were painted white, black, red, and yellow."

Weird Al has remained relevant longer than most musicians. The man's beyond genius. "Mr. Frump in the Iron Lung" is one of my actual favorite songs.

Don't care what anyone say Weird Al still does a damn good job. It should be considered an honor when a song is chosen to be parodied by him.

I don't know, some of the "current hip parodies" now kind of suck, Weird Al is a classic and most of his videos are pretty funny. Especially Barny's on fire lmao. That had me rolling the first time I heard it.

I'm offended! Explain yourself!
Haha was just a little light joke on you Americans ruining the English language (favourite and colour for example).

Also, you will never hear a Brit say "I could care less", when they mean "I couldn't care less", which is something a lot of Americans on here say.

But, like I said, was just a joke. I know you're not all bad ;)

I was joking as well. I wouldn't take offense to something like that.

But I'm glad somewhere in this world no one ever says "I could care less" when they mean "I couldn't care less".

I just don't understand how people continue to screw that up. >=|

Loved foils. Real talk, I had bought his Greatest Hits Vol. 1 because I had a long drive coming up and was blasting this song. At a light, black guy I used to work with pulls up next to me, and yells, "Yeah boy, bumping that good shit" (only at the start). I immediately turned it down before Weird Al came in because I didn't want to lose his respect and just went with it. Thankfully, I have a passing interest in hip-hop because of Office Space to carry on the conversation
