The option to turn Fatalities off

Am I the only one that isn't phased by the fatalaties in the game so far? I thought they were meh and didn't make me cringe in the slightest.
Well it doesn't phase you and I, because mainly we are older individuals, but to a young child it can be the stuff of nightmares for them.

Re-watch the trailer and close your eyes when the fatals happen, lol... it's almost just as bad.
Sometimes they kan picture humanoids or monsters getting killed right? lol.

I pictured worse things in some parts but that's only because I already have that kind of stuff in my head. Except for the Sub Zero's heart plopping down part. That was worse than what I pictured since the sound effects aren't as strong there.. Haha.

PS: I edited my post to better konvey my message.

Solo

Shadow Priest
Fatalities get boring after the first couples of weeks.

Edit: The game is rated M anyway. That's basically a big ass warning sign for kids.

You know what I hate? When people make a harmless suggestion and then you got those guys who are against it/ or say it wouldn't matter. Like.. C'mon now..

I vote yes for this and would like an option to turn blood off (helps reduce lag)

TaffyMeat

Infinite Meter Kombos
If I lose and the opponent tries to fatality me.... they sweat, they panic.... because they cannot fatality me online..
...
Because I turned blood off in the menu options HAHAHAHA

The fatalities used to be kind of cartoonish and quick. Now they seem to be long, hyper detailed and horrific. I can get with the point of this thread; I am not squeamish by any means, but I'm not sure I'd want to look at this every day either.

Even at the Sony presentation the audience reaction seemed kind of uncomfortable afterwards -- and that was with the ending cut short.

I guess we can always hope for Mortal Kombat X Lego edition.
Honestly, I do wished we can turn it off or skip them completely. It's interesting to see once or twice, but the novelty of it wears off really really fast.
I know it's a defining thing for Mortal Kombat but I think the game would actually be better without all those time wasting sequences.

The request is simple and may already be something to be set in place. I have no idea why some of you are blowing this up other than to be dicks about it.

Regardless of how old you are, there will always be a time that is out of your control where family may end up seeing this when you don't want them to.
I can't play MK at home half the time just because as a poverty college student my Mom might walk in and see the gore and get pissed lol. I completely see where you're coming from, it's enough to try and explain away the stripper costumes let alone Sub ripping somebody's spine out

A parent doesn't need to give up what they enjoy to be a fully good parent, unless of course we are talking drugs and alcohol and whatnot. I am very well and capable of raising my son and daughter and have done everything I can for them. There are many things I have given up for them and that includes hobbies. I no longer write and play music in bands anymore, I had to quit playing miniature wargames and damn near had to stop painting for them. I have yet one vice left MK and FGs. Sure you can say I shouldn't enjoy my free time that I rarely ever get, because I'm a parent and, if my son can be a lil sneaky at times. Well unfortunately thats just kids in general that will do those things. Its easy to sit there and say well then you need to give your favorite game, because you have kids, its not that simple either, because you are then also showing those children in your home that now they run the roost. A parent needs to enjoy life as much as the kids do and they also have to establish an authority figure in the house, by giving up everything you enjoy, well then you just told your child your the boss and not the other way around.
You are making a mountain out of a molehill. This is not me saying parents shouldn't game or watch porn or do drugs or even beat their spouses if that's what they really wanna do. This is not a moral dilemma about the merits of having kids and having a life. This is me saying if you have a concern about your kid seeing the content of one particular game and you absolutely cannot keep them leashed enough to avoid it, then you need to drop that game. Its that simple. I don't know if you need to play shorter sessions, only do it one school nights, or just plain give it up, but there is absolutely no reason you HAVE to play MK.

MK is not the only fighting game, video game, hobby, or thing you can do with your spare time when your kids are around. You will not be taxed or arrested or insulted or even spoken down to if you ever say in a conversation "I gave up MK for my kids". You will probably be applauded.

If you've really already sacrificed everything you already said for your kids sake, one more game isn't going to kill you.

How about try to not be a prick for once
Of the numerous people in the thread, i am the ONLY one who has posted any actual information about the bloodless modes already existing in every Mortal Kombat to date. It sounds like I'm the only one whose even them. How bout you contribute something to the conversation for once.

Yeah, but you come off as a pretentious asshole all the time in threads. Just try to chill out for once

Pretentious would be saying "It's pretty obvious you don't know what pretentious means". Being sarcastic in a thread asking for something that's been in every MK ever is just livening up the joint.

You guys are cool like my dad <3 He wouldn't let me play mk because of the fatalities. We played other stuff together and he bought the games though. But that one was off limits to me.

Man did not have a problem with Primal Rage oddly. I guess his logic was dinosaur violence is like nature documentary....also he bodied me in it :(

Kombat Kode did this. If they just add something similar to when you're playing against the AI the problem is fixed.

Good idea.I dont think it would hurt to have the option to turn it off unless ur like a mass murderer who gets off to that sort of thing. This makes me feel like a bad parent my kids be watching like what. (8&6) I cant be the only one who don't trip right????? Crickets .....

That's about right.

Right, I know that, but I'm seeing adults on this site talking about how horrible it is. I guess I'm not bothered easily. idk

I'm no parent but I don't think simply turning off fatalities would make the game ok for small children. Unless you think X-rays would be a good opportunity to teach your kids about anatomy.

I'm not really complaining, just asking for something.
I wasn't implying that you were complaining. I wasn't even speaking to anyone specific. I was just pointing out that a lot of people are bothered by the fatalities on various sites and how it doesn't bother me.

You see though and I am not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill either. I was simply presenting how it is that my child managed to expose himself to these kinds of games. You literally are telling me that I have to give up this game, because my son can possibly be exposed to it. I am very aware of what my children do and I do not even touch these games or even play games for that matter while they are awake and running around. I spend that time with them, because I haven't had much time in the past to spend with them, considering my former military career and the fact that the wife and I had to live separately for a year just to support them while the wife finished her military time. So, I highly value what time I get with them everyday and when they go to bed I get my game on. I run a tight ship with my children, but they are kids, they are Chaos incarnate and will end up doing things they shouldn't be doing regardless of how strict and secure you are with them.

To kids its the allure of why they can't play these games, its the whole Daddy and Mommy say its bad and now I wanna do it even more. Which is why in many cases I will simply expose these things to them in a mild way to get the point why we say its bad and you are too young to get it. I recall when one day my son did his sneaky trick while I was playing Dark Souls one night (another reason why I always wait until I know they are straight passed out before I game now) and then he kept begging and begging me to let him try and play it, because he knew he would just rock at it. I eventually despite my wife's protests, just said fine lets see you do it. I let him make his character watch the intro movie and sure enough once he ran into the Asylum Demon, not only was he afraid of the monster, but he gave up after losing 3 times and declared the game bad and he won't touch it again. ( I know he likely will one day though)

With MK9 he saw Mileena leap onto the screen and that as I said before has managed to keep away form these games .

BTW when I mentioned drugs and alcohol, I was referring to how a parent really should consider sacrificing that for the sake of their children and when I mention alcohol I mean straight alcohol abuse, not the occasional drinker.

Its all about toleration, I have friends that find Faces of Death a cool video to watch and like snuff films, but even though I watch horror films and play gorey violent games I am disgusted and disturbed by snuff films. Its because when I play MK or watch a horror film I know that its not real. We all have a threshold for what imagery can become highly disturbing to us. For me its cannibalism, in films or any implying of the sort in a movie that bothers me can't explain why, it just does. The reason it never bothered me in MK was well the man eaters in MK were not humans to begin with.

Its all about how mature you are and how well you can handle it that's all.

@TheSpore,
Dude, I have kids, well kid. I understand how it works. Your entire post is my point in a nutshell. Kids are going to get into your shit, the end. You can make an extreme example like guns or drugs, or you can make a simple example like the stash of cookies or gummy worms. The point is the best way to keep them out of it is to not have it. Period.

And if that means you don't get to buy the new MKX game, so be it, go buy some other game he can watch or even play it with you or at least one that won't show peoples heads getting crushed and flesh melted. Someday he/she'll be old enough to enjoy MK, and I'm confident you both will survive until then without it.

There's a lot of stuff you don't learn about yourself until you actually have kids, and there's a lot of things you don't learn about your parenting style until your kid pushes another kid off the slide or shouts your favorite curse word while building legos.
