First of all, I'd like to thank @Keits and his staff for putting together an excellent production this weekend. It ran smoothly and issues were immediately handled in a professional manner. I'm going to mostly talk about what happened off stream, so the viewers can truly appreciate what the attendees got to experience in person.

When I arrived to the venue around 10:30 am, Injustice pools had already begun and everything was being monitored by Keits himself. I feel this needs to be acknowledged, because some people here are under the impression that he doesn't care at all about our community. When KitanaPrime's B3 was clashed by Rahsaan, myself and several others told a TO and he quickly ran to another staff member who had more expertise in patching systems. By the time he came back, KitanaPrime had won the match, and declined to update the system because he just wanted to get the set over with. After Rahsaan won the set, another staff member came and alerted us the system was patched, but someone switched the profiles. We then noticed the system was hard-wired into an internet connection, and not using the bootleg hotel wireless. He took care of it within 2 minutes, then Keits reappeared and proceeded to make sure every other system was patched.

An hour or so later, we were called to the stage to prepare for pools to be streamed 10 minutes before scheduled time. In true UFGT spirit, I proceeded to get Divekicked out of the tournament by Godspeed and MajinBerzerker after my streamed match against Hruza. Keits really runs a tight ship, and I hope it eventually becomes the standard for fighting game tournaments.

The co-tournament director Max and streamer @BGCallisto also worked closely with us and asked the community what commentators they wanted. We ended up alternating shifts so everyone's favorites could have some air time. Ultimately, they wanted myself and David for Top 8, but a fan favorite run in by @GGA 16 Bit was more than welcomed. He deserved a main event time slot after those epic comebacks.

After the tournament on Saturday, a group of 20 went to the X-Men movie. Some of us were tired from being up for 15 or more hours and dozed off for bits and pieces, but it was still a fun experience. From what I gathered, the plot is basically "We're sorry for X-Men 3; hope this fixes it." Oh yeah, the 3D effects were cool too.

In casuals, I ended up taking ass whippings from Espio, Glass Sword's Scorpion, and Noobe. I just wanted to press F23 on my gamepad and enjoy myself :(. I also got to play a fun FT5 with Rational Jim. There was one point where he did running man stance and I hit him with a full screen Wake Up Scoop

Overall, it was one of the best tournaments I've ever attended. Shoutouts to @gpmoney for Nightwing experience, MelloGang for advice, KitanaPrime for always being there when I need to vent, Theo for using Superman at GBS, @Noobe for being so generous with his lodging and food, Cash for sidebets, HoneyBee for showing Flash's true potential, Biohazard, Max, and ForeverKing Jr. for finally making me realize how fucked up Bane is, Filipino Man for making Hysteria hold his incessant Wonder Woman downplaying, @GGA 16 Bit for being 16 Bit, Perfect Legend for bringing the hype at his own expense, Pig for driving us to McDonalds, Truth for the movie idea, Digit for the hotel room, Rahsaan for all of our weekend shenanigans, PPJ and Goomba for playing Zatanna and Superman to help me theory fight, drunken Reno for hyping up casuals with sidebets, PantyChrist for placing Top 8 in MK, @OG Mannimal for holding it down for online warriors, @VGMtheVagabond for being as funny as his avatar, @Ne'er-do-well for showing off some sick Frost setups, Gross for beating everyone in Injustice casuals to prove he's the best MK player, @Espio and Blake for our 4 hour mod war, @UltraDavid for giving up Ultra Street Fighter commentary to hype up Injustice, @colt, @tylerlansdown, Derrick, Boon, and John Edwards for showing love in person, and last but not least, @GGA Dizzy for picking me up and taking me to the airport. I would have had to pay $100 in cab fees if it weren't for him. If I forgot anyone, I apologize. I had a good time with pretty much everyone I ran into.

Bumbling towards greatness.
Photos like this remind me I need to hit the gym. Put on that travel weight.

Super happy you had a good time! We work hard for all of you (even those of you who don't like us) and will continue to do so. It was great to see all of you, to have such hype moments in MK and Injustice alike, and to even have Boon visiting us. Midwest stand up, now and forever.

Of note for posterity: Keits is tournament director for UFGT, Max and I are co-directors with more specialized focuses.

I had a huge amount of fun this weekend. So many hype moments and such a wonderful showing for all the games. Got to see a lot of people from the Arcade Legacy scene do extremely well in other games, which means I need to have that same showing.

The only bad moment I had was getting yelled at by @AK Dream Sword after the match he had with PPJ. I understand it was a shitty loss, but that was pretty rude and disrespectful. Hopefully it never happens again.

I definitely will try to make it out to more tournaments, as long as the circumstances that be allow it. I will be at TFC to celebrate my birthday and hopefully make a showing in this game.

I'm actually impressed by this number. @SonicFox5000 you should have gotten a permission slip from mommy!
UFGT has been pretty good for SG for awhile now >.>

Anf FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUU so fucking mad I wasn't able to make it :( From a view perspective other than the SFXT situation UFGT was great, stuff was always going on and @BGCallisto and NobodyEXE did a great job.

I write too much.
Oops, didn't see this thread existed so I'm going to copy my shoutouts to this thread and ask for mine to be closed.

I'm going to start by warning you all that I write a lot, so expect a wall of text.

To anyone tagged in this who played against me, or who saw me play and noticed something, any sort of critique/feedback/advice is appreciated (Other than saying to pick another character :joker:). I want to improve after all.

___________

First off, this tournament was absolutely amazing. By far the best tournament I have ever attended. @Keits thank you for running such a great event.
The staff was helpful, the event was run in a timely manner, instant replays are amazingly hype and there was a lot to do even beyond the tournament games themselves. I also really like the effort to make sure everyone respected proper hygiene. This tournament surprisingly didn't smell like a room full of sweaty dudes.

My only potential complaint would be how expensive food and drink were, but that's more on the hotel than anything else (They had to have made a killing on drinks this weekend!).

___________

Shoutouts for my AL (Arcade Legacy) brothers. We showed up in force and did fairly well in multiple games, dominating a few of them.

@AL Mod: Damn, you were stagnating for a while but now you're starting to level up hella fast again! Integrate what you learned this weekend and every local we attend is going to be you and Eevee in GFs in the near future.

@AL Eevee: You are improving at a scary fast rate. Keep at it and you will start winning it all in the near future. Keep at it; you're pushing me to be a better player just to keep up ;)
I'll pick up DS to help you with that MU BTW.

@VGMtheVagabond: Hell yeah we all did better than at CW, which is impressive considering how hard you got bracket raped. Keep moving forward; we're only going to get better.
Also thanks for driving us there and OMG Chicago deep dish!

@Willdog: I'm pretty sure you won't see this, but wow don't get so upset over these games. Everyone thought you were going to Sanford Kelly.
I already told you a lot of this throughout the day, but you need to pick 1, maybe 2 at most, games and learn/practice those instead of entering everything and getting mad when you lose. Learn to love the lab as well.
Also you absolutely have to play casuals. I'm not sure why you didn't all weekend from what I saw, but casuals are the most important part of the event. You should be playing because you love the game and love the challenge of playing against other opponents. If you're playing for other reasons, then I feel this may not be the right hobby for you.

_____________

To the GGA crew in general:
Great showing! You guys did well, caused upsets and as usual are the most hype people ever! It was great seeing you guys again.
I also want to thank you guys for helping us out so much the last time we showed up. I don't think I can explain how much you guys helped me level up just from that one visit (And the podcast shoutout about what I had to work on afterwards helped a lot too).

@GGA Fill Pops: Thanks for the games! I love playing your lobo and it was cool seeing you again.

@The_PantyChrist: Sorry we didn't get time to play. Also I accidentally lied to you; it was totally F2>low laser that was hitting me and I thought it was some sort of standing 3 frametrap. Oops. Sorry about being so vehemently wrong.

@limbodawg: Sorry we didn't get to play much, but unfortunately my ride was leaving after top 8. That said good games for the few we had.
Out of curiosity, were you sandbagging me? I really felt that our few games showcased more than any other I played that weekend how far I've come considering how badly you beat me last time we played, but I also don't know how seriously you were playing.

@Grawlix: I can't actually remember if we played or not, but if we did GGs. It was fun talking to you throughout the tournament though.

I don't think I got to play the rest of the GGA crew this time, but you guys are awesome and really bring the hype to every tournament.
Also your advice to Max during one of his sets to take a drink was pure genius. Telling a guy to relax never seems to work, but making him sip his drink to collect himself seemed effective.

Oh by the way, I definitely think we should all plan to attend some Indiana event so that OH and Chicago can meet again without the ridiculously long drives (It's only like 2 hours for you guys to get to Indianapolis too right?).

______________

To the Ohio guys who were not Arcade Legacy:

First off, you guys need to host tournaments or something so Cinci can attend. Failing that, show up to our Brutality events. In any case our scenes should be playing more. It's ridiculous that we have to go to Chicago to see you guys.

@FOREVER KING: Good shit on 2nd! As much as people may have boo'd the AM counterpick, I respect that. Great job repping OH and reaffirming how much of a threat you are.

@FOREVER KING Jr. (Sorry don't know the tag): You were one of the coolest people at this tournament. Thanks for all the games, though it's a shame I didn't get a chance to play your Bane. Hopefully next time. Also great job making top 8! Between you and Max, it's clear Midwest Banes are to be feared.

@Forever Dad: He probably won't see this, but FK/FK jr, your dad seems like a really cool guy.

@P2W: Your Sinestro is sick. Really wish I could have gotten a chance to play against it. Maybe next time. I know you talked to some of my crew about having our scenes meet up sometime; this should happen.

@Perfect Legend: As much of a heel as you may be, you deserve props for winning MK9 and making top 8 in Injustice (Although it would be much easier to give you props if you hadn't made a post saying top 8 doesn't mean anything :p ).
Independently of all of that though, you made Scorpion look good. I haven't seen that since Slips dropped the character.
Shame I didn't get to play you at all. Northern OH needs to host a tournament though for all of us to attend or you and Broba should show up to some of our events.

___________

Everyone else:

@Whiteboi: Thanks for the friendlies man. You're a really cool guy and showed me stuff that I didn't know about the DD matchup. Time to lab up some answers and make sure I get less predictable with my jumps (That air grab was wrecking me!).
Amazing play in tournament by the way! Congrats on top 3!

@Kitana Prime: Thanks for coaching my boy Eevee. I sadly didn't get time to play you (It never feels like there's enough time to play everyone), but you seem like a really cool dude and I know you're a good player; you got top 16/top 8 next time.

@Chaosphere: Great games! Seems we've both improved since the last time we played each other. Felt like all of your hits converted into a billion damage.

@AK Pig Of The Hut: First off, thank you very much for giving mea bunch of games. I wish I could have gotten even more, but I didn't want to keep the other 300 people in the room waiting.
Anyway, I've been thinking a lot of our matches. You showed me a lot of things that I had either never seen before or never seen used in a real match yet and helped me learn a lot in the MU. You also indirectly showed me a lot of things I do wrong as a player.

Now for stuff about the MU:

I stand by the statement I made in the room that there are no top level Joker players as of right now (And by that I mean there is no one at the level of other top character reps, like Tyrant for Grundy, 16 Bit for CW, yourself for Zod, etc.). We have a few above average Joker players, but no one at a high enough level to play you and be on an even playing field skill-wise.

I feel that you got as much off of MU stuff, such as that crazy wraith crossup ES thing or the fact that Zod seems to have a pretty clear stage advantage on most stages, as you did off of my shortcomings as a player, such as my jumping after every blocked palm or dropping 100% combo resets (And I landed those multiple times, but dropped all of the combos following them). I also don't feel I stuffed your wakeups as well as I could have.

All in all, I actually do have to agree with you right now that at the current highest level (Which I don't think I'm at by the way), I can see the MU being hopeless. However, if we Joker players ever get a high level rep, I could see it go to 4-6 or maybe even end up even*. Hopefully next time we meet I will be good enough to back up that claim.

*Hey, at least I don't think I win it anymore :p

Oh and because I feel certain people are going to call me out for scores, I don't remember exactly, but it was something like 15-20 games for Pig and 2 games for me. Yeah, I got bodied.

@HoneyBee: Holy shit dude your Flash was crazy. Thank you for the matches. You asked me if I was going to pick up Flash now, and despite my original answer, not going to lie, your top 8 performance kind of makes me want to XD

Speaking of top 8, I was really pulling for you to win. If you don't mind some outsider nobody's advice, I really think you should take more time in between matches when you're losing.
In your set against Filipino Man, it showed that you were rattled and going back to rematch with that mindset may not have been the best idea.

@Filipino Man: I thank you for the matches as well. Your WoWo is insane and you pulled stuff out that I had never even seen before. Great job placing so well; I think your title as WoWo of America is now undeniable.

@gross: You are hilarious, and in all seriousness, despite the amount of shit everyone gave you, your GL looks solid. Sadly I had little money this event or I would have gladly MMed you. Maybe next time.

@Syknis: You seem like a cool guy; it's a shame I didn't get a chance to play you. Same as with Gross, if I hadn't been so broke I would have gladly taken your money, errrr... MMed you :joker:
Hopefully we'll get a chance to play at some other event.

@Compbros: Good games man. You've definitely got a solid superman. I'm kinda salty I lost to you twice though. I need to learn to adapt faster, because that low laser wrecked me in our 1st set. I really wanted to get some friendlies in with you later, but sadly I never have enough time at these events to play all the people I want to play.
That said, next time I'm taking you out!

@fLoE: Good games man, and sorry about my teammates getting really hype when I won. Part of why they got so hype is that I have a history of choking against any notable tournament player in tournament (The best example would be when I had 4 separate chances to knock Tokido out in MVC3 pools the first year it was at Season's Beatings, 3 of those opportunities being Happy Birthdays, and dropped everything, something I didn't usually do in that game.), and this marked me finally overcoming that.

@RDK|Tyrant: Your Grundy is amazing; shame you didn't make it to top 16. I was really hoping to get to play you (And was sooooo close in pools). Oh well, maybe next time...
Also, holy shit your Spinal is amazing! You made me want to go out and get an XB1 just to try and capture even a glimmer of what you were doing with that character.
I don't even play KI and I was getting unreasonably hype over your Spinal.

@Cal-EL : You were a blast to talk to. It's a shame we didn't get time to play; I really wanted to get some games in with you. Hopefully next time.

To everyone else I'm forgetting, thanks for talking to me and playing against me. I interacted with like a billion people this weekend and every last one was awesome. Thank you guys for making this scene great.

Bumbling towards greatness.
They changed grand finals to 2/3 lolol
If you check the UFGT website (which, as usual, players and upset people on twitter didn't) you'd find that SFxT is listed as a 2/3 title for the entirety of the tournament. Based on how open the schedule is when a game hits winner's finals he's reserved the right to bump that to 3/5, but its not guaranteed.

I talked to Keits for over an hour at Frosty Faustings and I learned a lot from that conversation, so it was cool to see him end UFGT on a high note for himself and everyone.
