IGAU Freezing Issue/Solution

Hey guys! Some of you know me from the streams of Frosty Faustings and this post weekend's UFGTX. I just wanted to make a quick thread about the issues we had this weekend, and what worked to resolve it, in the hopes of helping any TOs that will be running IGUA brackets in the near future.

Those who were at the venue probably noticed that when we first started pools, we only had two functional fully-patched setups, and after we got to having all four up I had to steal one for the stream.

This was due to issues with IGUA freezing after we went online to get the Batgirl hotfix. The freezing did not occur at a consistent time, sometimes it was in training mode, sometimes in versus, sometimes at character select, and sometimes just at loading screens. It happened on my 360 slim, which I had tested at home right after hotfix dropped and had no issues, as well as 5-6 of FocusFire's older model 360s.

I tried deleting the system cache, deleting the game data, installing the game to the HDD, and uninstalling it from the HDD if It was installed already, none of that worked.

The only thing that appeared to work consistently was disconnecting the game from the internet immediately after accessing the WB servers to get the hotfix.

I have no idea as to a potential cause, or a more permanent solution, I just wanted to let people know that of you experience the same thing, what worked for us was plug in ethernet, go into XBL, go into game, go to DLC or XBL multiplayer to get hotfix, then immediately yank the ethernet cable out of the system; this worked consistently.

Hope that no one else runs into the issue, and/or NRS can pinpoint and fix the cause quickly, but for now if you're running an event and this happens to you that's what fixed it for me.

Thanks man -- this has been an issue at a lot of the tournaments that have used Xbox so far. That's a pretty wild way of dealing with it, haha.

Initially we had tried just cycling through several 360s to see if one would work, after trying that and a handful of other things I realized that the only difference between my 360s on stage and the ones at the pools area that had been working fine on Saturday was that every time we got online on one of those for the fix we immediately unplugged it so we could move the ethernet to the next one that needed it; I tried that out on my 360 and it worked perfectly through all of top 8

one thing that i noticed is. ultimate edition can lag at the start of the game. And can freeze at the white screen when the game is loading. On 360 the game for ultimate edition can lag in training mode. If you are online. And it can lag when playing if you are online. Idk why. Xbox Problems hehe. Also i would suggest turning off notifications on the xbox. Since the game can lag a bit when a notification comes up.

Oh yeah, thanks for that, I should note that in every single instance we were using an Ultimate Edition disc
I have only had the game lag in verses mode once. And it stops after a while. So i dont know whats up with that. The lag in training happens a good amount to me actually. But when im not online its fine. But for the most part while playing against another person i never get lag. But going offline is probably the right idea after getting the hotfix. And turning off notifications. If the game freezes after like 8+ hours thats the console overheating probably.

Yeah the freezes were happening after like, less than one minute of the console being on, while I was asking people to test if the Batgirl infinite was patched out

I never experience any type of lag while playing on the 360. Whether it be Ultimate Edition or the regular edition.

I experience start-up lag on the PS3, so I go into training, pick Doomsday, go to Wayne Manor - Greatroom and Earth Shake until the entire building is destroyed as much as possible, do a background bounce, throw the chandelier, piano and two statues and that usually causes all the lag to go away.

Its one of those things that can happen with any game really. Some people have it happen some people don't. Every game can lag or freeze at some point. Whether it is the game or the console is something that we cannot tell for the most part.

Thanks for the tag, good to know a workaround is out there.

I am hoping for a cleaner solution by the time KiT 15 comes, but if not we will be prepared.

It would be greatly appreciated if a community member wrote up a document on the issue and what needs to be done / not done to ensure the latest patch/hotfix is applied and the game will run correctly.

At KiT 14 we took great pains to update the machines with the latest hotfix only for them to mysteriously disappear due to changing profiles - something we didnt even know would affect it. Luckily Injustice started late in the day on Saturday for us so it did not put us behind, but Final Round started late because of this and now UFGT.

If possible, really I think for consoles that are specifically for offline tournaments should all be set to only have on profile just to avoid that possibility altogether. I'll also try to get in touch with NRS about it, though the reps they had out did at least get to see it happen in person so they do know it's an issue that's happening.

The profile thing is a big problem. Also the Console Turning off and then the wrong profile or no profile being selected. Since the newer Xbox console are motion sensitive. So they turn off much easier. Also if memory serves even if you only have one profile on the Xbox if you try to sign into another account the Xbox will make another profile for you. So you will basically get a player X profile. X being a number. The only solution i can think of for this is telling the players what to do. Or telling a TO if a console is turned off for what ever reason.

Yeah, actually Focus Fire/Gaming Generation having old model 360s is actually really nice since you don't have to worry about power button/disc tray swipes, Slims can be brutal for that.

Does the hotfix stay on the system after you download it from the servers? Or does it need to be re-downloaded every time you reboot the system?

Needs to be downloaded every time; so if the system gets shut off you have go back online. I'm not 100% sure but I think it may require signing on to the game's servers as well, so you might need to touch down the console again if the game is exited even
