I have a Kitana lookalike with a katana that covers my whole back, a Korean half sleeve with koi and waves that I had finished the day before Toryuken 2012 (it's my excuse for losing to JWong), cherry blossom tree on rib cage with dad's chinese handwriting, my birth year on the back of my neck and 2 maori tattoos on my ankles from my time in NZ.

I agree with thinking twice about getting it on your hand. I don't really agree with having to be original though, as long as it means something to you. I have the Japanese Kanji for love on my left peck. The reason I got it really resonates with me and will be around for my entire life, so even if it's unoriginal, what it means to me is original. Plus I actually speak the language and I'm minoring in it. Most of the tattoo's I want are from that culture.
Usually original and meaningful go hand in hand. If it truly does mean something other than being a typical hipster then go do it, I'm all for it.
dont be a cock sucker... if he wants to get it let him get it.
Just because you'd do it doesn't mean he should when he risks not being able to find a job because of it and especially at the age of 16. Next time use your brain a little and don't call people cock suckers.

I have tattoos of Jesus getting cut in half by the grim reaper on my upper bicep/tricep area and a tattoo of him having his head ripped off by a Gargoyle on my forearm.

I'm also finishing my critical care residency.

So yeah, those who say if you have tattoos and you'll never get a job are clueless as about %25 of the nurses amd doctors I associate with and work with have tats and theirs are exposed.

I cover mine up.

Only one I have ATM. I'm waiting for my guy to finish drawing up more work. Next is going to be an Angel praying in my right front shoulder and a devil dancing on my left for the good/evil consciousness.

honestly playing video games competitively is more of a stigma than having a lot of tattoos. maybe not professionally but definitely socially

"Awesome tattoos!"

...

"eww why would you want to watch other people play a video game" (twitch)

etc. etc.

I feel like I have a lot of great ideas, I'm just apprehensive about the ideology of the pain.

I'm the type of person that, if and when it comes down to it, I'd rather have my nose broken than sit in a chair with a hot needle prodding my skin several dozens of times a second for hours.

Well im not from the US but they are probably abit more conservative over there lol

Btw my boss is full of satanic tattoos
I really think it depends on the type of job to be honest. I was thinking about getting a tattoo on the side of my ring finger, just a small word, but I don't think it'll be acceptable in my field of work.

Cherry blossom trees are always a good idea. They're just amazing! And the maori tats usually come with meanings depending on their placements if I'm not mistaken?
Usually original and meaningful go hand in hand.
Qwark you're not a cock sucker, you just need to lay off that attitude of yours a little bit :p
As for your statement, I'd have to disagree. Original and meaningful? All I could think about is one tattoo I saw not too long ago consisting of a bike handlebar on the lower back of some chick. If I were to take a guess of its meaning, I'd say "ride it"? Very original and the meaning is overflowing with class :p

He's 16, and thinking of getting a tattoo on his hand, I think he should really think about it first.

Oh my. If you don't mind me asking, what was your motivation for getting them done?

I'm getting an alteration of the MK dragon on my arm in a couple of months or so. Eventually I'll turn it into a full sleeve .
I'm thinking about the MK dragon, without the circle around it, on my right oblique...when I get an oblique hahahaha
