I'll be back 3ing
As Injustice evolves it gradually becomes more and more clear that some characters just aren't playing the same game as everyone else. Pre-patch Deathstroke zoning was considered op by the masses and was adjusted, Black Adam lightning was also adjusted yet General Zod is worse and allowed to continue without complaints?
Whether done purposely or not the movement in Injustice is very slow and wasn't designed to cope with zoning as fast paced as in games such as UMvC3 or Mk9. General Zod players may feel that the character loses a match-up or a match-up is tough because their opposition gets close to them and they may have to actually play footsies or potentially deal with a 50/50 but that is not a bad match-up. A bad match-up is what every other character excluding Martian Manhunter has against Zod. Ares get in on Zod, not possible, teleport next to him 40% combo knocked fullscreen. Catwoman get in on Zod; j2 not an option as he's built 2 and a half bars off zoning and can be mb f3d on reaction, yolo mb cat dash hits, knockdown, 50/50 guessed correctly and push blocked come at me bro I have trait. Batman get in on Zod, wait for trait to come back whilst Zod builds meter just to push-block you away and wait some more, the list goes on. What happens when General Zod zoning gets better and the players learn how to deal with up-close encounters better?
General Zod is able to break the mechanics of the game every single time he activates trait. His trait allows him to freely pressure you, freely toss interactables at you or rush-in getting free mix-ups opening up opportunities for easily hit-confirmable combos that can be extended to send you fullscreen to loop everything again. Even without trait General Zod's zoning is overpowering as the recovery of zod balls is massive and the slow version opens up room for rushdown behind it comparable to pressure Reptile needed a meter to do in Mk9 or a Dhalsim utlra in Street Fighter.
Is this really fairer than pre-patch Scorpion just because you may not be able to immediately pick the character and win. Zero is really good but he is hard to use, Morrigan is really good but she is hard to use, Kabal is really good but he is hard to use; the list goes on and it's fairly clear that the difficulty of using the character will not make a difference in the long-run especially when the game is something like Injustice that has a huge following and will likely be played competitively for some time.
General Zod does not require fundamentals to use, if you do not catch him at the start of round you probably never will, he breaks the mechanics of the game and for those of you still whining about how broken a 50/50 mix-up is, he has them as well. General Zod is without a doubt the best and most dominating character in Injustice with Martian Manhunter closely behind as the second best simply because he was added into the game to somewhat counteract General Zod (5-5 probably 6-4 Zod). The only reason for him not being used by every player in a Top 8 is because of his lack of representation, ignorance of match-up knowledge and players general character loyalty and love of their favorite DC comic book characters who are likely not him. Anyone who actually wants to win in Injustice is maining either Martian Manhunter or General Zod, or has pocketed one of them for certain match-ups.
Is General Zod Fine?
