What's new

I'm not a fan of the controls in this game.

No seriously, though, inputs are funky at times. But a lot of the unintended specials tend to stem from hitting d/b or d/f as you go to input something. Which, simply put, isn't exclusive to this game. It was in MK9, too...the only reason it wasn't as big a problem was because the game had a block button so you oftentimes are not even hitting d/b to block. Just something you have to get used to if you don't go with alternate controls.

The throw thing is weird for me, too. It's a really tight window for the throw input if you don't use the bind for it.

Setup:

Ps1 pad
Release check off
Alternate controls off

My only issues are getting df or db moves from crouching.

Example, crouching as Black Adam, attempt to B2, get the bomb thingy.

Superman crouch to F2, get rising grab, etc.

I have mitigated this a lot by being very deliberate in my inputs during those situations. I got it constantly when the game came out. Now I only get it when I'm desperately mashing.

I guess my suggestion is to slow down your inputs a little. As annoying as it is, now I know when it happens, it's my own fault.

Pair this shit up with the garbage that is PSN and you have one frustrating evening on your hands...
I have absolutely zero issues when I play this on PSN. This is coming from someone who has played over 8,000 games on XBL, which is often touted as being far superior to PSN. I think you're just getting paired with people who you have a bad connection with.

You may very well be correct. If you're looking for someone to play I'm down! (Plus I've really wanted to learn how to play DD) :)

Getting a special for going from :d to :qtl (in regular controls) is a HUGE annoyance.

As someone who is used to pressing buttons from defensive crouch (a habit formed from pretty much any back2block game ever) I have to pay super close attention that I just hold straight down for blocking and doing any down + button normals.

That's energy I could be devoting to spamming ring grab

Yeah this is hella annoying with GL I will be crouching and do b1 and get point blank lift. Good thing YOLO lifts never fail :p

If you believe enough, -7 could be +7
I have noticed that this game will reads quarter circles very odd.
For example; Low gun shots is BD1 however the game will accept B~B/D as a gun shot.
I would recommand switching to alternate controls.

This is something that I hope is a priority issue for then to fix in the next game. Getting the input error when you're crouching and transitioning to a directional normal can make the difference between winning and losing a match.

I hardly had any problems with the controls in MK9, but in IGAU I am constantly having to be aware of them rather than just playing the game.

@colt we love you -- please throw us a bone in the next title.

Yeah I've had these issues with nrs games since mk9 as I mentioned in my original post. I know the easy inputs are the cause of it and I just would like for them to address the issue. It's been a problem long enough.

Also it was a big problem for me in mk9. Things came out by mistake all the time.

MK9 was worse because you also HAD to deal with the negative edge that couldn't be turned off.

I can't even think of a character that legitimately benefited from this, either. With bf moves, it's fine, but any qc character can get majorly fucked by this.

I love this game but the controls are frustrating in that regard. The D+B issue is a problem. But another weird thing that happens is when you're jumping forward but your character neutral jumps for some reason. The amount of combos I dropped because of that. Urgh.

yeah there is definitely a difference between injustice in that regard compared to mk or street fighter, at first I thought it was my pad, but then I played mk and I never got any neutral jumps. Its like you have to press the forward button down all the way to get a forward jump consistently.

This is the only execution thing I consistently noticed in inj. Neutral jump sometimes come out when I do a forward jump. This never happened to me in mk9.

I'm still convinced there is a frame that stops blocking if you are holding back and move to d+b to block low, same with if you move to block high from the d+b position.

I have never had so many problems just blocking in a back to block game.

Yeah this is very noticeable

Its extra bad on the vita version too (but no one plays that anyway lol)

I'm with you there... I always blamed it on lag, where it show's me blocking low but low starting combo strings are still getting confirmed. Glad to know i'm not the only one.

It happens to me offline as well as online, I haven't played this game much on pad, so not sure if it's just the stick, but I literally had to start hitting down always to block low, and back always to block high.

I just took the D/B input out of the equation, this seems to lesson the problem.

The problem with that, is the horrible bad habbit of hitting down to block low in other games and getting 100% blown up lol.
